Chapter 616: Alex’s Birthday [Part 2]

"Here, take it." Renard handed Alex a small ornate box. "It’s not much, but I’m sure you’ll find it useful."

"Can I open it now?" Alex asked, unable to hide his curiosity. What had Mr. I-Have-Trust-Issues gotten for him?

"Go ahead."

"Thank you."

When Alex opened the box, he saw a familiar small charm. It was a charm that promoted stamina regeneration and mental clarity.

Such charms could only be bought from the biggest temple in the Kingdom of Solara. Each one cost at least a thousand gold coins each, and the number of charms available was very limited.

Alex looked at Renard in surprise, knowing how stingy the young man was. The only way for him to buy this item was by saving up a few months of his stipend from the academy!

"Thank you, Renard," Alex said, genuinely touched to receive such a wonderful gift. A thousand coins wasn’t a big deal to him, but it was a huge sum for a commoner like Renard. Besides, the charm was difficult to get regardless of how affordable it was!

"I told Celestria that your birthday is coming soon, so I asked her if she could recommend a gift I can get for you," Renard explained. "She then sent me that charm and asked me to give it to you as a gift from the two of us."

"I see." Alex felt relieved that Renard didn’t use up all of his stipend just to buy him a gift. He was actually starting to feel a little guilty, but Renard’s words finally put his mind at ease.

"Okay, my turn next!" Chuck grinned and handed Alex a small bottle with several blue pills inside of it.

Alex frowned because he had never seen this type of pills before.

"What’s this?" Alex asked. "This is the first time I’ve seen these pills."

"You won’t find those pills anywhere. Those are special pills that I personally crafted!" Chuck patted his chest proudly. "They are of very high quality and makes your *beep* so hard, you could smash blocks of ice with it. It also has birth control properties, so it’s perfect for you know what. Charles tested it, and he is my first satisfied customer! He says that it worked like a charm!"

"""Pffft!"""

Alex and Charles almost coughed out blood, utterly embarrassed. They knew Chuck was shameless, but they didn’t know he was this shameless.

Everyone then looked at Nessia, whose face had turned redder than a tomato.

The young lady was glaring at Chuck, wishing she could smash his face with the chair she was sitting on right now.

Fortunately, Lotte and Lumi took action and held her back before Alex had to spend all his future birthdays commemorating this troublemaker’s death!

"Mary," Princess Xenia murmured as she pinched the bridge of her nose because she was at a complete loss. What could she even do with a fiance like that?

"Understood, Your Highness," Mary replied. "I’ll deal with him later."

"Also, make sure to confiscate those pills in his possession," Princess Xenia ordered. "Not a single one must remain. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, Your Highness," Mary promised.

Chuck was feeling so smug about his gift, thinking he had done his friend a favor. Little did he know that his shenanigans inched him closer and closer to being buried six feet under.

Alex had seen the look on the ladies’ faces. Silently, he prayed for his roommate. Chuck had not only pushed his luck too far but also pushed the wrong buttons too many times in the span of an hour.

"I guess it’s my turn," Lapiz said with a smile. The young lady gave Alex a box that was wrapped in a white cloth blazoned with the symbol of the Faelarun Royal Family. "My gift is the Moon Leaf Tea. It’s a special tea that promotes good sleep as well as sweet dreams. It helps relax the mind and relieve stress."

"Thank you, Lapiz," Alex accepted the gift gratefully. "I’ll treasure it."

"Don’t treasure it." Lapiz blinked. "You must use the tea leaves and drink the tea so that they will not be wasted."

"Hahaha." Alex chuckled awkwardly because he was indeed thinking of saving the tea leaves.

This was the first gift that Lapiz had given him, so he wanted to keep it safe!

Of course, he couldn’t say that out loud. He simply thanked the elven princess, whose smile he wished to protect.

One by one, those who had gathered gave Alex a gift.

The Dryads gave him the fruit wine they had brewed back in the Shadow Forest.

When Dim Dim saw it, the little bun looked at Alex with puppy eyes. Alex had a soft side for Dim Dim, so even if it was a funny drunk, it was still a harmless drunk.

The young man agreed to give the Dim Sum God a bottle, which made it very happy.

Finn gave him a whetstone, which he could use to sharpen and maintain weapons.

Charles gave him a small basket of cookies, which he and his sisters baked when he had visited the orphanage.

Their family owed Alex immensely, so Charles wanted to give him something that the three of them had made.

Although the cookies weren’t as good as the desserts that Lotte and Mary had baked for today, they had still been made with a lot of gratitude from the bottom of their hearts.

Naturally, Alex loved this gift because he could tell how much Charles wanted to repay him.

When everyone, except Alex’s lovers and Dim Dim, had finished giving their gifts to the young man, Vaan walked up to the birthday celebrant, holding a small ornate box in his hands.

"She" then knelt in front of Alex and slowly opened the box "she" was holding. Inside of it was a ring with a green gem embedded in its center, shining faintly in the light.

"Will you marry me?" Vaan asked with mock seriousness.

If his classmates had been there, Alex was sure that they would have been squealing their hearts out right now.

But some of those present reacted in the same manner. The Dryads and the Fairies had no idea what was happening, so of course they thought this was a case of a beautiful young lady taking the initiative to lock down her man!

Even Lapiz and Eleanora blushed because this was something that they hadn’t expected.

As for Alex’s lovers, they only looked mildly amused at Vaan’s attempt at a marriage proposal.

"I’ll think about it," Alex replied, fully knowing that Vaan was just teasing him.

But the moment he took the ring, he could have sworn that Vaan muttered something like "I almost had him."

Alex recognized the ring. It was one of the treasured rings a student could exchange in the academy. When worn, its wearer would gain a very high resistance against poison.

In fact, it was a very OP accessory that could only be gained through special means!

While Alex had no idea how Vaan cleared the conditions needed to obtain the ring, he was very happy to accept such a valuable gift from his close friend.

"Now it’s my turn nano!"

Everyone froze after hearing the girly voice coming from behind Alex.

There, standing with a faint smile on her face, was a little girl around seven to eight years old. She looked exactly like a young version of Latifa.

Latifa and her Alters looked at Lala with a complicated expression.

They had no idea how their counterparts from Reverse Arcana had crossed over to their world so easily when it should be extremely hard to do so.

However, since Alex felt that Lala didn’t hold any hostility—and had even caught him back in the Shadow Forest after he had been hit by Reverse Alex’s attack—he didn’t hold any grudge against her.

"Come, Lala," Alex said softly.

Seeing that he didn’t mind her presence, Lala happily walked up to him. Before anyone could even react, she sat on Alex’s lap and hugged him tightly like a little girl who wanted to be spoiled by her Papa.
