Chapter 617: Alex’s Birthday [Part 3]

Seated on Alex’s lap, Lala hugged him tightly.

Alex didn’t have the heart to push her away, so in the end, he decided to let her be as long as she didn’t harm anyone.

Latifa sighed in helplessness as she looked at her future Alter. Lala was the alter of the Reverse Latifa, which meant the little girl was also a part of her.

The appearance of her reverse self’s Alter had ruined the gift-giving momentum, so she took it upon herself to restart it.

"Lumi, Lotte, Lulu and I worked together to give you this gift," Latifa said before handing Alex a bundle made of special paper.

Curious about the writings on this gift, the young man unfurled one and read its content.

Lala also leaned a little closer to read the writings and giggled not long after. The gift Alex received were tickets. They weren’t normal tickets.

Massage tickets, lap pillow tickets, and ear cleaning tickets, as well as date tickets. Whenever he wanted to avail these services, he only had to present them to Latifa, Lotte, Lumi, and Lulu.

Still surprised and amused, Alex thanked her properly for this special gift.

"Thank you, Latifa," Alex said. "This is an amazing gift. I’ll use it properly."

Satisfied with Alex’s reaction, Latifa turned back and took her seat.

Following the fox lady was Evangeline. She extended her hand, offering a rectangular box.

When he opened it, a blood red crystal pendant was there.

"E-Eva this..." Alex couldn’t help but look at the blood pendant in his hand in shock.

In the game, Evangeline had gifted this to the protagonist as a pledge of love. It was a special keepsake no one but the young lady could make. Because the pendant was made with her blood.

Its effects were beneficial to him, but it was terrifying. As long as he equipped the pendant, half of the damage he received would be transferred to Evangeline, no matter their distance from each other.

This precious gift made Alex’s heart ache. If he got hurt, Evangeline would also be hurt.

It felt poetic when he received this from Evangeline as a player. The pendant expressed Evangeline’s thoughts—that she didn’t want her beloved to get hurt, that he must treasure his life, and that she’d die with her if he didn’t.

"Do you know something about this pendant, Alex?" Evangeline asked.

She had planned to privately let him know about the special effect of the pendant later. But Alex’s reaction let her know that he understood the significance of her gift.

"I do," Alex replied honestly. "I’ll do my best to keep myself safe for your sake as well."

Hearing his words, Evangeline knew that her hunch was right. Alex knew what the pendant could do and what it symbolized.

She smiled as she watched Alex wear the pendant. Immediately, she felt a connection between them through the pendant.

After Evangeline sat down, Lavinia took her place.

"It’s my turn," Lavinia said and handed a small box to Alex. "I hope you like it."

When he opened the box, he saw a jade bead bracelet inside of it.

"It’s a family heirloom my grandfather saved for whoever I’ll marry in the future." Lavinia lowered her gaze to hide the blush creeping on her face. "He was supposed to give it to you when we visited them. However, he thought it would be better if I gave it to you as a birthday present."

Unlike Alex’s lovers, who had yet to openly express that they would marry him, Lavinia made sure to emphasize that she had every intention of becoming his wife.

This move was her own declaration that he was serious in her relationship with Alex.

"Thank you, Lavinia," Alex replied. "I’ll do my best to keep it safe."

As if acknowledging her courage and determination, Alex wore the jade bracelet on his right wrist. This was his answer to Lavinia’s feelings for him.

When it was Fran’s turn, the dwarf approached Alex with a determined look on her face. She had also prepared a gift for him just like everyone else, but she felt that it was no longer enough to stake her claim.

Francesca might have predicted what Fran was going to do, so she immediately covered Finn’s eyes, preventing him from seeing what was going to happen next.

The dwarf didn’t resist. He also had a feeling that he might not like what he was going to see.

In front of everyone, Fran cupped Alex’s face and kissed his lips.

This kiss lasted for nearly five seconds before she finally pulled back and returned to her seat.

Due to her embarrassment, she forgot to hand over her gift, a pair of traveling shoes to replace the one Alex had damaged from their battle in the Shadow Forest.

If not for Alex bringing his academy shoes with him, he might have returned on his bare feet.

After everyone finished handing their gifts, Lala took this opportunity to also give him a gift—a kiss on the cheek.

Clearly, Fran’s action made Lala also want to join in the fun and show off a bit to the other ladies around her.

Alex blinked in surprise when he felt the soft peck land on his cheek.

"Happy birthday, Papa!" Lala said cheerfully, her tail swaying as if she had just accomplished something great.

The other girls stared at her for a moment before a few sighs echoed around the room.

"...You just wanted an excuse to kiss him," Lumi muttered under her breath.

Lala only giggled and hugged her Papa even tighter, not even attempting to deny the accusation.

Alex chuckled awkwardly, unsure of how to react to the growing chaos around him.

"Thank you, Lala." Alex patted the young lady’s head, making Lala close her eyes in comfort and happiness. She enjoyed his touch, which was very different from the touch of Reverse Alex.

Now that the gift giving was over, everyone returned to eating and chatting with each other.

Lala stayed seated on Alex’s lap and watched the festivities silently.

It was also the birthday of Reverse Alex back in Reverse Arcana. But instead of a celebration, her Papa was busy beating up people who annoyed him most.
