Chapter 635: Astrea’s Promise

Chapter 635: Astrea’s Promise

"Yosh!" Astrea looked fired up as she walked up to one of the treasure chests, wondering what she would find inside them.

As soon as she opened the lid, a faint glow appeared. It lasted for a few seconds, then disappeared completely.

Inside of it was something that made Alex blink. Meanwhile, Astrea’s face turned beet red.

"L-Let’s go to the next, shall we?" Astrea casually closed the lid of the box. Inside of it was a frilly white night gown.

The lingerie reminded Alex of the purple nightgown still in his possession, which caused him great embarrassment.

After all, he had told everyone it was meant for Vaan!

Only he knew that he had bought that nightgown for Astrea, as it maximized the power of her luck.

Some gamers even called it the "Lucky Lingerie." As long as Astrea wore it, there was a very high chance that she would get a legendary item from opening a chest!

After opening the second treasure chest, Astrea couldn’t help but take a step back. Inside the chest was another frilly night gown, just with a different design. This time, its color was black.

"A-Ahahaha... it seems that today is not my lucky day," Astrea said as she forced herself to laugh. "M-Maybe the next chest will be better!"

"Definitely!" Alex supported her. "You can do it Astrea!"

"O-Okay! Here I go!" Astrea opened the third treasure chest. But as if to mock her, another night dress appeared. This time, it was red!

The young lady didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Sure, she kept getting Unique Grade Items. But why were they all lingerie!?

"C-Calm down Astrea," Alex said. "You still have three more chests to open. I’m sure they will be better."

Astrea took a deep breath and faced the three remaining chests with a determined look on her face.

She decided to change her strategy. Instead of opening just one, she opened two at the same time. Without missing a beat, she lifted the lid of the third chest. It was as if this method would ensure that she would get something else.

"T-This can’t be..." Astrea collapsed on the ground after seeing the content of the treasure chests.

They were all night dresses. The only difference between them were their designs and color!

White, black, red, orange, pink, and blue!

"... Are you sure you didn’t get these treasure chests from some kind of perverted dungeon?" Astrea asked with eyes looking like that of a dead fish.

"O-Of course not!" Alex shook his head vehemently. "I will never do such a thing."

"Then why..." Astrea was still in the first stage of denial. "Why?"

All of them were Unique Items, which guaranteed good stats. They had considerable defense, as well as special bonuses that enhanced the stats of anyone who wore them.

If someone didn’t mind wearing something questionable beneath their main clothes, they would gain formidable equipment that would enhance their survival inside a dungeon or during an expedition in unknown territory.

"Um, as promised you can take one of them?" Alex tried to lift the young lady’s mood, but the latter only blushed as if she was considering his suggestion.

But after thinking things through, the young lady decided to reject Alex’s offer.

"This time, it’s a dud," Astrea declared as she reached out to grab Alex’s hand. "But I promise—the next time I open chests, I will get something good! So please, give me a chance to open your treasure chests again!"

"O-Okay," Alex replied, overwhelmed by Astrea’s determination.

After her attempts to open the treasure boxes, Astrea decided to sleep once more so she could forget everything.

Perhaps she really felt drained after that incident, for she fell asleep in just a minute.

Alex watched her from a distance before sighing in his heart.

Even he didn’t expect Astrea to have days like this as well. As he carefully took the treasure chests back to his storage ring, he wondered what he would do with the night dresses he just acquired.

’... I guess I’ll give them to my girls,’ Alex thought.

Although he didn’t know how they would react after receiving his gift, he still hoped they would like them.

A few hours later, the other adventurers woke up one by one.

They felt surprisingly well rested and those who were injured felt a lot better after sleeping.

Dim Dim’s dim sums had helped them recover at a rapid rate. But since they didn’t know about its miraculous powers, they attributed their improvement to the potions they consumed before they slept.

"Okay, we will now head to the surface without stopping," Alex declared. "This is the final push, so everyone, please do your best!"

""Yes!""

All of them moved in the same formation.

Renard, Captain Jonas, and the Cleric took the lead and served as vanguards, while Chuck, Dim Dim, and the Spear Knight protected the middle of the formation.

Alex remained at the rear, using his map to make sure they wouldn’t get ambushed by multiple enemies during their retreat.

The group steadily made their way through the dungeon, their movements far more coordinated than before.

With a clear formation and a shared goal, even the injured adventurers gritted their teeth and pushed forward.

Renard led the charge like an unstoppable force, smashing through the monsters that dared to block their path.

Captain Jonas and the Cleric supported him closely, ensuring that no sudden attacks would catch them off guard.

"Left side!" the Cleric warned.

Three wolves lunged from the shadows, but Renard was faster than them. He smashed them with his gauntlets, sending them crashing toward the wall of the dungeon.

The wolves then turned into black mist, leaving their cores behind.

Renard didn’t even bother to pick them up and continued to take the lead, taking everyone to safety.

Now that they had reached the upper floors, the monsters were weaker and thus more manageable, making their progress faster.

Even the Rank 2 Ironhide Boars that tried to attack them in a narrow corridor died quickly. Renard only punched them once with his powerful gauntlets.

When they finally reached the First Floor of the dungeon, Astrea finally breathed a sigh of relief, lightly loosening her hold on her brother.

They had traveled for many hours, and knowing that they were close to the exit gave them renewed strength.

"Exit first," Renard said to the Adventurers. "We will guard the rear."

"Thank you," Cassian replied. "We owe you and your friends a debt of gratitude. The Nocturne Family will not forget your help."

Cassian and Astrea then crossed over to the exit, while Alex, Dim Dim, Renard, and Chuck stayed behind.

Only when the last adventurer safely crossed over to the other side did they also leave the dungeon.

The three decided to rest in an inn for a day before going back to the dungeon to resume their training.

But before that, they helped the injured receive proper treatment first.

Of course, the adventurers who managed to survive were immensely thankful to their three saviors and promised to repay them in the future.

"Let’s book ourselves a room in an inn so we can eat and finally take a proper sleep," Chuck yawned. "I’m so tired."

"Dim Dim~" Dim Dim agreed and yawned just like Chuck.

Alex and Renard might look fine on the surface, but they were also exhausted from this trip.

So they followed Chuck’s suggestion and entered the second best inn in the city.

Little did they know that the news of their heroism had reached the ear of Duke Marius.

An hour later, news of what had gone down inside the dungeon spread like wildfire throughout the city, making everyone talk about the three teenagers who were currently sleeping without a care in the world.
