Chapter 717: The Real Battle Choir [Part 2]
Chapter 717: The Real Battle Choir [Part 2]
The three faced off.
But most of the attention was clearly skewed toward Alex.
Sylvia and Jeanu knew this. They could also see the smug look on the princely young man’s face. And they really wanted to wipe the floor with it.
They even felt like mere side characters in a story. How could they accept that? They refuse.
“Before we start, I’m sure you’ve heard what your two opponents had to say, right?” the MC asked Alex.
“I did.” Alex nodded.
“Then, do you have something you’d like to tell them?” The MC truly wanted to hype this battle up, so he deliberately created tension from the very beginning.
Alex hesitated but still accepted the microphone handed to him.
“First, allow me to apologize and thank the two of you for agreeing to my selfish request,” Alex said, giving his opponents a respectful bow. “However, I sincerely believe that unless the two of you work together, you won’t stand a chance of winning against me.”
“Oh my!” The MC chuckled. “It seems that our Singing King is really very confident!”
Alex was still holding his magical microphone, so he continued with his speech.
“Also, the fairies of Frieden Academy who witnessed my battle against our musical advisor, Professor Arienna, once said that no one, both living and dead, can beat me in the Battle Choir.”
The students of Frieden Academy glanced at the dejected fairies, who perked up a bit after hearing Alex give them credit.
“Damn right!” Doh raised her fist in response. “No one can beat our Alex!”
“Yes! He is invincible!” Reh shouted. “The one-and-only Battle Choir Master!”
“You guys have no idea how much we spent paying for a psychiatrist to overcome our PTSD!” Mii complained. “I want all of you to experience it as well! Make Alex Great Again!”
“ALEX! ALEX!” Fah raised a placard with Alex’s name on it.
“Yeah! Go get them, Alex!” Sue roared. “WE WANT BLOOD! WE WANT DEATH! WE WANT MURDER!”
The students of Frieden Academy were so surprised to see the cute fairies act like they were out for blood.
Dim Dim was also waving its glow sticks, cheering on for its partner!
The poor little bun wasn’t wearing its earmuffs because it believed that Alex would do better this time around.
With the cheers coming from the little ones, Alex finally handed the microphone back to the MC.
“How about the two of you?” the MC asked Sylvia and Jeanu. “Any last words?”
“I hope you don’t regret this,” Sylvia said with a sweet smile. “I believe you humans have this saying, ‘Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall’. Just don’t fall too hard later, alright?”
“You might be the Singing King, but I am also the King of the Battle Choir in my academy,” Jeanu stated. “I will show you what a true Battle Choir is like! Get ready for my song!”
“””Whoaaa!”””
Just as the MC hoped for, the crowd cheered wildly. Since this was the finale of the night, everyone must’ve been tired after watching the previous musical battles.
But thanks to the high stakes of the Battle Choir, they regained a second wind and were once again filled with energy.
“Well then. Without further delay, we will now start the Battle Choir!” the MC declared before stepping out of the arena. He then snapped his fingers, prompting three silver orbs to fly towards the contestants.
All of them already knew what to do, so they all grabbed it firmly in their hands.
The silver orbs shone brightly at the same time.
Alex, who felt a little childish, even did a transformation pose, which made the eyes of Dim Dim and the fairies sparkle in excitement.
The three silver orbs then escaped their grasp and rose higher, beginning to play the music that they had chosen.
Three songs.
Three singers.
And a battle that would manifest from their melodies!
Sylvia sang the song “Hunter’s Mark,” while Jeanu sang the song “When You Believe”.
The elven lady’s song summoned savage prehistoric monsters, while Jeanu summoned an army of light.
Alex, on the other hand, sang the song, The Greatest Show.
“Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for,” Alex said as he summoned a cane in his hands.
A moment later, a swarm—no, a tsunami of geese materialized beside him, stomping their webbed foot on the arena, making it tremble in response.
They were all wearing gangster sunglasses, making Dim Dim almost want to jump into the arena and join them.
Since it couldn’t do that, it took something out of its dimensional storage, which was none other than its own gangster sunglasses.
The audience laughed, finding Alex’s geese army very cute. Compared to the prehistoric monsters and the army of light that Sylvia and Jeanu summoned, Alex’s army looked like it would be massacred when the two sides clashed.
Alex had only sung the first line of the song, yet the number of geese was steadily increasing, already numbering in the hundreds.
Yes. Alex wasn’t singing.
At least not yet.
He was merely saying the opener to his song.
Yet the honking of the geese was loud enough to disrupt Sylvia and Jeanu’s concentration.
Both realized that this might be Alex’s strategy to overwhelm them. Hundreds of honking giant geese drowned the roars and war cries of their summoned projections.
The two sides still hadn’t clashed because the purpose of the openers of each song was to empower the manifestation of their music, bringing them to life while strengthening their powers.
Everyone thought that the true battle would happen during the chorus, but they were wrong.
Very wrong.
Alex didn’t need to sing up to the chorus.
He only needed to sing!
And the moment he did, everyone felt it.
The raw power of his singing voice!
The fairies shuddered in shock, surprise, and excitement as the familiar diabolical voice assaulted their ears.
Soon, the sound of nails scratching a blackboard magnified hundreds of times reverberated across the arena, making everyone shudder.
It was accompanied by the screech of rusted metal dragging across stone, the wail of a thousand dying geese, the horn of countless broken trumpets, and the agonized cries of souls being tortured in the deepest pits of hell.
