Chapter 718: The Real Battle Choir [Part 3]
“GYAAAAAAAHHHHH!”
“MY EARS!”
“WHAT IS THAT?!”
The audience immediately erupted into chaos. Several spectators dropped to their knees and covered their ears.
But it was of no use!
Alex’s song was like a powerful spiritual attack that couldn’t be blocked by ordinary means!
Nearly everyone’s bodies writhed inside the coliseum while screaming, trying to use their own shouts to drown out whatever was making them suffer.
However, it was all useless! Alex’s song was the real deal!
“Yes. Yes! YES!” Doh raised her hands in triumph before starting to laugh like a witch.
All the other fairies were also enduring the ear-rending noise that made the audience twitch like dying insects, all of them desperately trying to shield themselves from the song that they never saw coming.
“Hahaha!” Reh laughed. “Now all of you will know how expensive going to the psychiatrist is!”
“We have insurance!” Mii roared. “WE ARE COVERED WITH INSURANCE!”
The fairies were having the time of their lives at the moment, even going so far as to use a recording crystal to record this historical moment.
Dim Dim opened its dimensional storage. It must take out its noise-canceling earmuffs. It must protect its ears. The little bun’s stubby little arm trembled non-stop as it reached for what it wanted.
Yet, before it could succeed in its mission, its eyes soon glazed over as if its body and mind had shut down completely.
Sylvia and Jeanu were most affected by Alex’s singing because they were nearest to him.
The powerful gangster geese army finally took flight, honking their warcries while clashing against the prehistoric beasts and the army of light, whose bodies were starting to flicker out of existence.
The two did their best to focus their concentration and regain any semblance of control.
However, no matter how hard they tried, their voices were drowned by the honks of countless geese and Alex’s diabolical singing voice.
“Enough!”
The King of the Elves, King Aerindir, slammed his staff on the ground and used a powerful silencing spell that spread across the entire coliseum, stopping Alex’s song completely.
No matter how much Alex sang, no sound came out of his mouth. The Elven King had made sure to magnify his magic several times.
Fortunately, Alex didn’t activate his skill, Voice of the End.
If he did, then the Divine Skill would’ve nullified any silencing spells against it. It was a true divine attack gifted to Alex by the Tone-Deaf God.
Even the God of Music feared its manifestation!
Sylvia and Jeanu collapsed on the ground and panted for breath.
Their bodies were still trembling from the aftershock of Alex’s singing.
When they finally regained their composure, both of them raised their heads to look at their opponent, who was not aware that the entire coliseum was now under a complete silent lockdown.
Alex was completely immersed in his singing that even in the silence, his solo performance was still ongoing.
The young man was even dancing a little, completely oblivious that the King of the Elves had finally stepped up to stop the tournament.
The judges, who had now recovered, looked at the young man who was still performing on stage.
“What amazing resilience,” one of the judges muttered. However, since the silence spell was in effect, no voice came out of her mouth.
The other judges had heard Alex’s angelic singing earlier and were looking forward to the Battle Choir.
In fact, they were even thrilled when the young man changed the competition setup into a two-versus-one battle.
And now, they understood where his confidence was coming from.
Let alone two, even three, or four, or a dozen other singers would fail to beat him in the Battle Choir.
Everyone was lucky. At least, Alex had yet to sing the chorus of the song when the silencing spell was activated.
If he did… then the trauma everyone suffered would haunt them until they returned to their own homes.
King Aerindir suddenly remembered Professor Matilda’s scheme of using the Potion of Reverse Voice against Alex.
‘Is this the effect of that potion?’ King Aerindir frowned.
He knew that the Professor and Lady Evarisse planned to sabotage Alex. However, he didn’t really pay too much attention to their plan.
Aside from turning a blind eye to their actions, he didn’t know if they succeeded in making the young man drink or not.
Because of this, he felt a little guilty, thinking that the young man was the victim of the unfairness of the adults who wanted to shame and humiliate him in front of the audience.
‘I should have stopped them.’ King Aerindir sighed internally. ‘If I only knew this would happen, I would have stopped them at all costs.’
Alex was the Singing King, and the song he sang during the Singing King contest was so wonderful.
If that same singing voice was used in the Battle Choir, things might have ended differently.
But what was done was done.
King Aerindir couldn’t possibly confess that he allowed people to sabotage the contestants of the tournament.
If he did, an uncontrollable diplomatic issue might arise. Staying silent was his best option.
However, since he believed that he was guilty as an accomplice to the crime of ruining the voice of the young man, he didn’t plan to make him suffer either.
In fact, he was already thinking about how he would compensate Alex for the suffering and ridicule he would face after this performance.
A few minutes later, Alex finally stopped singing.
King Aerindir then dispelled the silence spell, and soon, sounds once again returned to the world.
“”That was amazing, Alex!””
The fairies were no longer able to contain their excitement, so they all flew to the arena and started kissing the young man’s cheeks.
“Thank you! I can now file my insurance claim!” Doh declared.
“Me too!” Reh said happily. “I finally have witnesses!”
“The payout is guaranteed this time!” Mii laughed. “The insurance company won’t be able to say that my hearing damage was caused by natural causes!”
“This recording crystal is worth its weight in gold!” Fah said as she waved the crystal in her hands. “We have evidence! Evidence!”
“Thank you for your service, Alex!” Sue hugged Alex’s right ear, whispering softly to him. “Because of your sacrifice, we can finally recover our medical expenses!”
The audience looked at the jubilant fairies in disbelief.
Recover their medical expenses?
File insurance claims?
Just how many times had these little creatures suffered from Alex’s singing?!
“You don’t understand!” Doh wiped away tears of joy. “The insurance company kept rejecting our claims!”
“They said our story was too ridiculous!” Reh complained.
“They even accused us of making things up!” Mii gritted her teeth. “But now we have thousands of witnesses!”
“Justice!” Fah cried.
“Compensation!” Sue added.
“””Payout!””” all the fairies shouted in unison.
The fairies then hugged Alex once more as if he were their benefactor.
The young man could only blink because he thought the fairies were simply too overwhelmed by his wonderful singing that they were talking nonsense about insurance claims.
The only thing he could do in response was say, ‘you’re welcome,’ to them.
A moment later, all the judges declared Alex the winner, and even King Aerindir didn’t make any objections against their judgment.
Sylvia and Jeanu were only happy that their suffering had finally ended.
If they stayed on the same stage as Alex for one more minute… no, for thirty more seconds, they might have developed a fear toward any kind of song for their entire lives.
