Chapter 742: Parade Of Stars [Part 2]
Chapter 742: Parade Of Stars [Part 2]
The Demon Worshiper and his companions hadn’t even started with their plan to kill Alex during the Parade of Stars. Yet, they were already caught.
They had mingled with the crowd, planning to stage a commotion. After sending the crowd into a frenzy, they had planned to kill their target and escape in one go.
The bounty on Alex’s head had grown to a whopping ten million gold coins, high enough for them to risk it all.
Evangeline was trying to lower the bounty on her lover’s head using her father’s influence, but it wasn’t effective.
With her father refusing to actively cooperate, there was little she could do with Eleanora’s help to remove Alex’s name from their organization’s Kill List.
While she suspected that the Demon Worshipers might attack Alex during the parade, Evangeline hoped that the security from the Kingdom of Faelarun would deter them from targeting her lover.
Unfortunately, the bounty on his head was too good for some members to ignore to the point of not minding the danger.
However, the moment Dim Dim and Eiko decided to also join the parade, the Demon Worshiper’s attempt was bound to fail.
After dealing with the first person with her marble-sized Blast Bomb, Eiko continued to flick eight more bombs in the direction of the terrorists, sending them flying with explosions.
The guards were quick to round them all up, while the rest of them assured the crowd that everything was under their control.
“Dim Dim!” Dim Dim, who realized what its best friend had done, clapped its hands and praised her.
“Ahem!” Eiko proudly raised its body in return, enjoying the praise that was being given to it.
As for Alex, he was quite surprised by this sudden turn of events. Still, he was happy that no one else got hurt, aside from the people who had been blasted by Eiko.
‘In the game, all slimes have the skill Blast Bomb,’ Alex mused as he looked at the two little ones, who had already returned to waving at the crowd. ‘Still, I didn’t know it could be used that way.’
Of course, he had no idea that Eiko had fought wars Alex wouldn’t even dream of participating in his current strength.
The Fairy Princess had grown a lot since then. Now, she was a force not many could contend against even in the entirety of the Elyverse.
Astrea, who had no idea of what just happened, looked at Alex in askance. Though, the latter only shook his head back.
Even he had no idea what just happened because it ended so fast.
After that incident, the Parade of Stars continued without any other disruptions.
Half an hour later, just as their parade float was about to take a turn, Alex saw a familiar face watching him from the crowd.
It was none other than Latifa’s Mother, Lady Evarisse.
The two held each other’s gaze, with the Celestial Fox having a faint smile on her face.
Alex had no idea what that smile meant. However, since he won the Singing King competition, he believed that Lady Evarisse would honor their agreement.
As long as she acknowledged Alex as Latifa’s lover, all was good. He would no longer have to worry about any unexpected bad end as long as he didn’t make the wrong decisions in the future.
(A/N: Oh no, a flag!)
When their parade float went past where Lady Evarisse was standing, he heard her voice directly inside his head.
“Come and see me if you survive Hy-Brasil.”
Alex turned around to look where the beautiful lady was standing. However, when he turned around, Lady Evarisse was no longer there.
“What’s wrong?” Astrea asked.
“Nothing,” Alex replied. “I just saw an acquaintance.”
Suddenly, Alex’s gaze landed on other familiar faces in the crowd.
His master Cairo, Elaine, and Efa stood in the distance and waved at him with smiles on their faces.
Alex waved back at them in return. They were the people who had helped him when he was still starting out in Arcana, after all.
Aside from that, Efa had also confessed her feelings for him back then.
He believed that the reason why she had developed feelings for him was because he had saved her and Elaine from the goblins back then.
Yet, when he was reunited with Efa, he felt that she had somehow changed.
He couldn’t pinpoint what that change was exactly, but she felt more mature and mysterious in his eyes.
While Alex didn’t want to admit it, she had also made his heart skip a beat during their last meeting.
‘I think I need to talk to her later,’ Alex thought. ‘Is she really planning to join us when we go to Hy-Brasil?’
Seeing that his master Cairo, as well as Elaine, were with her, it was possible that they, too, would join his group to Hy-Brasil.
Alex didn’t mind if they came along since he considered the three as part of his inner circle.
Plus, having more allies around was a good thing. After all, even he didn’t know what would happen in Hy-Brasil.
Information about these secret places was very few and far in between even in the local forums of ELO.
Those who knew about them kept them as a secret since they were a source of legendary-grade rewards, which could be sold in real life auctions.
In fact, one of the main sources of income for his in-game guild, Endless Horizon, was selling the drops of Raid Bosses in auctions.
His Guild Master, Noelle, handled all these transactions and directly sent the money to her guild members’ bank accounts.
Alex might not look like it, but he was actually a rich individual. He simply didn’t live a luxurious life.
Most of his income was sent to the orphanage where he grew up, while the rest just sat in his savings account.
When his parade float passed the trio, Alex sensed another presence in the distance.
This time, he saw someone that he hadn’t seen for a very long time.
A lady with black hair that was wearing a fox mask.
It was impossible for him to forget her, even though they had only interacted once.
After all, she was the one who had come to rescue them from the Dungeon Outbreak in the Dungeon of Beginnings.
Alex also found the girl mysterious, and he wondered what she looked like behind her mask.
‘I believe her name was Himea,’ Alex thought. ‘Wait… why does her name sound familiar?’
For some reason, Alex believed that the name, Himea, should hold some other significance to him.
Yet, no matter how much he tried to remember what the name signified, he always came to a dead end.
In the end, he decided to give up for now and think about it in the future when he was more free.
When the parade float finally passed Himea, a little devil appeared and sat on her shoulder.
“Are you sure you should be showing yourself openly to him like this?” the Little Devil asked.
“Why not?” Himea asked. “It’s not like he can see my face.”
“Well, you’re not wrong, but…” The Little Devil sighed before shaking its head.
It decided to stop talking about the topic, and simply warned her about the dangers of going to Hy-Brasil.
“Even if it’s you, Hy-Brasil is a very dangerous place,” the Little Devil warned her. “The boundary of that world is very thin.”
“I am prepared,” Himea replied. “In fact, I am even looking forward to it.”
While she still didn’t know what would happen in Hy-Brasil, one thing was certain.
She would be there to ensure that Alex would be able to return safely, even if it meant sacrificing others to keep him safe.
