Endless Leveling Done Right!

Chapter 787: The Trial’s True Purpose

Chapter 787: The Trial’s True Purpose

Alex looked at Nessia, who was resting her head on Charles’ shoulder while clinging to his arm.

She had managed to bring him back, but Charles knew that regaining control over his body was just temporary.

Nessia’s voice and feelings had reached him in that cold and dark place. Only when he reached out in the direction of her voice with all his might did he regain control of his body.

Overjoyed by their reunion, Nessia wasn’t able to stop herself from making love with her boyfriend. She hoped that it would allow him to strengthen his foothold by letting him remember how much she loved him.

And while it did work, Charles felt that Ganelon’s consciousness could take over at any time the moment he lowered his guard.

It was like walking on a tightrope, doing his best to either keep his balance or fall once again into that dark abyss, which he might never return from again.

Currently, Alex, Fran, Latifa, Nessia, and Charles were riding on a carriage that was headed back to Everdawn City.

The elven army marched alongside them, returning home after a great battle.

However, Alex told them that their battle was just beginning. Soon, the invaders from another world would make their appearance.

“Charles, I know this might sound like a gamble,” Alex said in a serious tone. “But if we are unable to defeat them using our own power, we must rely on the power of the Synchronization Rate.”

Charles’ expression turned grim at those words, while Nessia slowly opened her eyes.

Her grip on her boyfriend’s arm tightened a little, fearing her voice would not reach her lover a second time.

Then again, the young lady’s concern was very valid. After all, there was no guarantee that she would succeed a second time.

Though she also understood that if they didn’t defeat the people from Reverse Arcana, none of them could leave Hy-Brasil even if they wanted to.

“I understand.” Charles nodded, resting his hand over Nessia’s hand. “I can tell that you also plan to take this gamble, Alex.”

Alex smiled bitterly in response. “You’re right. I hate to admit it, but there is no way I can win against my counterpart. I just hope that King Aetherion, who is treated as a legend by the elves, will be strong enough to even out the odds.”

Frankly, he wasn’t too confident either.

Whenever the influence of his Synchronization Rate took over, it was always the King doing intimate things with women.

With that, he didn’t know how strong King Aetherion was.

But if his womanizing were the basis of his power level, then Alex could guarantee that the Elven King’s power level was over ten thousand.

Latifa, who was right beside Alex, also looked grim.

She was aware that her counterpart had eight tails.

Even if Lotte, Lumi, and Lulu were to merge with her, that would only raise her combat ability to a four-tailed Celestial Walker.

The difference in rank and abilities between her and her counterpart was like heaven and earth.

She couldn’t even think of a way to win.

And so, just like Alex, she also planned to gamble with her Synchronization Rate.

Latifa didn’t really like this plan, but what could she do? There was simply no way for her to win.

Although they weren’t saying anything, Fran and Evangeline were also thinking along the same lines.

Truth be told, Alex found the situation incredibly ironic.

He had spent so much time trying to prevent the Synchronization Rate from taking over his body, believing that doing so was the key to clearing the Trial of the Hermit.

Yet now, he realized that the very thing he had been trying to stop might actually be their only lifeline while facing off against the forces of Reverse Arcana.

It was then that he realized something.

Could this all be planned by The Hermit in advance?

Was the Deity of Arcana aware that those from Reverse Arcana would cross over to their world using the island of Hy-Brasil, so he decided to hold the trial there instead?

Perhaps, the real challenge wasn’t finding a way to solve the problem of the elves.

Instead, it was highly likely that this challenge was to stop those from Reverse Arcana from taking over Hy-Brasil and using it as a gateway to invade their world.

If that was the case, then it all made perfect sense!

Alex possessed King Aetherion, who was hailed as the Hero who defeated the Demon Lord.

While he didn’t know how strong the Demon Lord was, he was confident that they were a very powerful being.

At this point, Alex was starting to think that this had something to do with his “Hell Mode” difficulty, which made him feel helpless.

“How long will it take us to return to Everdawn City?” Charles asked.

“Two days,” Alex replied.

Charles lowered his head as if he was thinking about something very important. A few minutes later, he told Alex something that made the latter sigh deeply.

“Shackle me once more,” Charles said with determination. “Then put me in a deep sleep. Once the enemy strikes, wake me up and undo my bindings. I’m going to be perfectly honest here—I don’t think I can hold onto my consciousness for two more days.”

Nessia bit her lip after hearing Charles’ request. Of course, she understood that her lover was only thinking of everyone’s safety. Because of this, she decided to take the initiative to put him to sleep with her own hands.

“Don’t worry,” Charles said while caressing his lover’s face. “Everything will be fine. I will protect you.”

“I know.” Nessia did her best to smile, and yet, she couldn’t help but tear up while looking at Charles’ sad face.

Soon, Alex took out the adamantine shackles from his storage ring and bound Charles tightly. When she was certain that everything was properly secured, Nessia planted a kiss on her lover’s lips before covering his eyes with her hand.

A moment later, Charles fell into deep sleep with Nessia holding him in her loving embrace.

—————

Somewhere in the east of the Kingdom of Faelarun…

Reverse Vaan looked at the crack in space that had appeared in the sky.

The connection between Hy-Brasil and his world had been completed four hours ago, so he was wondering why no one had crossed over just yet.

Though, just as he was planning to check if there was something wrong with the formation, the crack in the sky finally widened a bit.

From there, a man with short black hair and blue eyes emerged, looking down upon Vaan with a cold gaze.

Vaan did his best not to shudder after being subjected to such a stare. He held his ground against the stare and even managed to smile in return.

Soon, more people crossed over, hovering right behind Reverse Alex.

They were none other than his lovers, who had accompanied him to this world that they were planning to take over by force.

“Finally…” Reverse Alex said before looking northwest.

Reverse Dim Dim, who was perched on top of the young man’s head, wore its gangster sunglasses.

The little bun had a devilish smirk on its face.

Reverse Latifa, Reverse Lapiz, Reverse Fran, and Reverse Evangeline then hovered behind Alex, waiting for his order.

Behind these ladies were Reverse Chuck and Reverse Eleanora.

There was one more person after that, which was Reverse Lavinia, who was wearing a collar while looking around her surroundings anxiously.

“Follow me,” Alex ordered before flying in the direction of Everdawn City.

If he wished to conquer Hy-Brasil, then he must first take ownership of the capital city of the Kingdom of Faelarun and mark it as his own territory.

Then, once that was completed, he would be able to put the entire island under his control, allowing him to use it as a base to travel around Arcana without worrying about being kicked back to their dimension by the laws that governed this world.
