Chapter 817: The Three Mascots Of Frieden Academy
Chapter 817: The Three Mascots Of Frieden Academy
“They’re here!” a pretty First Year said to her friends.
Upon looking into the distance, the group of girls was welcomed by a very familiar sight.
The three creatures, whom everyone treated as their mascots, were once again making their rounds in the academy.
Of course, these three peacekeepers were none other than Dim Dim, Daisy, and Rex.
At first, the students felt anxious whenever the little bun and the two monsters patrolled the academy.
A Doom Cow and a Forest Wolf were dangerous monsters that could potentially harm and even kill a student if they went out of control.
However, there had been no reports or incidents of any students being attacked by Daisy and Rex. In fact, people had grown fond of their three academy police, greeting them whenever they passed them.
Due to the three creatures’ popularity, some students even went as far as giving them gifts as thanks for patrolling the academy.
These gifts were handmade cookies, cakes, candies, and other food items the three creatures could enjoy.
Truth be told, there was even a Dim Dim fan club slowly gaining fame in the academy.
While their members numbered only a little over a dozen, it was only a matter of time before their numbers increased.
Even so, their popularity have reached a point where they could no longer carry or eat all the gifts handed to the three of them.
To solve this problem, Dim Dim decided to let Daisy carry two baskets during their patrol.
And just like always, the moment they passed near the group of girls, they immediately placed their gifts in the basket before thanking their three protectors for keeping the academy grounds safe.
“Dim Dim!” Dim Dim thanked the girls, who had given them a few pouches of cookies.
To thank them for their gift, it had no choice but to let them kiss its cheeks.
The little bun got passed along and received kisses from the pretty First Years before it was returned on top of Daisy’s head.
The Doom Cow was already used to this scene. It understood that none of the students had any intention of hurting Dim Dim.
However, Daisy made sure that everyone understood that they were not allowed to pet her as they did to the little bun.
Rex also didn’t like others petting its head and fur, so it made sure to growl at them to stop their advances.
“Bye bye, Dim Dim!” one of the girls said.
“Bye bye!” Dim Dim replied as he waved back at the girls that had given them gifts.
The trio then continued with their patrol. Half an hour later, the two baskets that Daisy was carrying were already halfway full.
The little bun pointed towards the next building.
“Dim!”
Their patrol was far from over.
After all, Frieden Academy was enormous. They still had plenty of places to check.
The three continued walking through the academy grounds, receiving occasional greetings from passing students.
“Good morning, Dim Dim!”
“Dim Dim!”
“Good morning, Daisy!”
“Moo.”
“Rex!”
The Forest Wolf merely wagged its tail.
Unlike Dim Dim, who happily returned everyone’s greetings, Rex preferred to maintain his dignified image.
Or at least that was what he believed.
In reality, the moment someone pulled out a piece of beef jerky in front of him, his ears would immediately perk up.
Of course, Dim Dim and Daisy had long since noticed this weakness. That being so, both of them agreed that all the beef jerky would become Rex’s share.
As for the rest, they would share it with the other beasts when they returned to the farm.
After making a turn around the old library, Dim Dim noticed a group of students who were all waiting for them to pass.
Dim Dim blinked once, then twice. It recognized them.
They were the ones who approached the Dim Sum God back then, asking it for permission to form a fan club.
Dim Dim agreed on the condition that they would not bother the other students.
When the three passed by these students, the little bun’s fan club all gave the little bun a salute.
Dim Dim returned their salute, raising its body proudly.
The Dim Sum God was a God. And truth be told, having a fan club was similar to having its own followers.
A God would not prevent others from believing in them, for it was the power of belief that allowed them to exist.
The little bun was quite pleased with this arrangement.
However, Dim Dim quickly realized that having followers came with certain responsibilities.
A God couldn’t simply accept people’s admiration without giving them anything in return.
Unfortunately, Dim Dim didn’t have any Divine Blessings to bestow upon them.
But it could give them food!
As such, Dim Dim summoned several bamboo steamers and gave them to its fan club.
The group was quite happy with the return gift. The dim sums Dim Dim gave them not only tasted good, but it also made them feel healthier and stronger.
“Thank you, Dim Dim!” the president of the fan club said with a smile, to which the little bun raised its body proudly.
“Ahem!” Dim Dim replied and waved at them as its group continued their patrol of the academy.
When it could no longer see its fan club, Dim Dim started to hum a happy song. Clearly, it was in a very good mood.
Daisy and Rex exchanged a knowing glance, thinking that their friend was sure very easy to please.
The Dim Sum God was a happy-go-lucky fellow and was also a strong supporter of the phrase “Love and Peace!”
Their patrol continued for another few hours.
They checked the academy’s gardens, training grounds, dormitories, as well as several of the quieter paths where students occasionally wandered whenever they wanted to avoid the crowds.
Whenever they encountered students, Dim Dim would happily greet them.
Whenever they found something suspicious, Rex would investigate.
And whenever someone needed help moving something heavy, Daisy would lend her strength.
After making a complete circuit around the academy, the three finally returned to the farm.
The two baskets were now overflowing with gifts, which made the farm animals, who came to greet them at the gate, very excited.
Another fruitful day was over, and Dim Dim hoped that Alex would return soon to the academy so that they could continue their adventure together.
