Chapter 816: Trouble Always Knocks
Chapter 816: Trouble Always Knocks
Alex had imagined many worst-case scenarios he might experience during his stay at the royal palace.
Fortunately, none of the things inside his head happened.
Both the King and Queen approved of him as their future son-in-law, even after they found out that he had other lovers aside from their daughters.
The crown prince, Prince Kaelen, also supported their parents, believing Alex would make his sisters happy.
With their blessings, Alex, Lapiz, Aeris, Princess Xenia, and Mary finally departed the Kingdom of Faelarun to return to Frieden Academy.
The moment the Elven Capital was no longer in sight, Alex felt the pressure pressing on him all this time vanish without a trace.
“Finally… I’m free,” Alex muttered as he stood on the deck of the airship while looking back at the Elven Kingdom.
“Free from what?” Aeris asked.
The young man had completely forgotten that the elven princess was right beside him when he muttered those words of relief.
“N-Nothing,” Alex replied.
He then stared at the perfect heroine, wondering what she was scheming next.
While he was still in the royal palace, there were some moments when he thought Aeris would snitch about Alex and Lapiz’s tryst in his room.
And yet, she said no such thing.
She even made sure to kiss Alex whenever they were alone, which made the young man feel conflicted.
If asked if he found Aeris very attractive, the answer would be a yes.
If asked if he enjoyed being kissed by her whenever they were alone, the answer would also be a yes.
And if asked if he had ever imagined what it would be like to spend more time alone with the elven princess, the answer would…
“No.” Alex immediately shook his head.
“Hmm?” Aeris tilted her head. “Did you say something?”
“N-No.” Alex quickly turned his gaze towards the horizon.
There was absolutely no reason for him to answer that question out loud.
Especially not when the person he was thinking about was standing right beside him.
If asked whether Aeris was aware of the effect that she had on him, then Alex would have to say yes.
He didn’t want to brag, but if every player of ELO saw him getting kissed by Aeris, he was certain that the number of people cursing his name would be enough to fill an entire city.
Truth be told, last night, Aeris visited his room using the secret passage.
And to make matters worse, she was wearing the sexiest lingerie Alex had ever seen in his life.
It took everything he had not to make a move on her, especially when she hugged him like he was a body pillow.
For some reason, he felt that if he took that step with Aeris with his current feelings for her, he would fail to do her justice.
He didn’t want to treat her as a convenient woman to vent his sexual frustrations.
No.
He never wanted to treat any of his women that way.
In fact, it was the other way around!
Evangeline, Latifa, and Lavinia would attack him whenever they were in the mood.
One was a vampire who used her drinking sessions with him to her full advantage, draining him not only of his blood but also of other liquids.
As for Latifa and Lavinia? Both of them were Beastkins.
While Latifa hadn’t done it with Alex yet, they had their moments of skinship with each other inside the clubroom whenever the young man slept over.
The two of them also managed to go all the way in Hy-Brasil, but that was not the real deal since the two of them weren’t in their real bodies.
As for Lavinia, after losing her innocence to Alex, she would invite him on a date to the city whenever she was in heat.
And during those times, she would remind Alex just how feisty Catkins could be.
“Let me guess. You’re thinking of other girls, right?” Aeris said after seeing Alex in deep thought. “Well? Who are you thinking right now?”
Having been found out, Alex coughed lightly and decided to change the subject.
“What will you do when summer vacation comes?” Alex asked. “We’re halfway through the school term already. It will only be a matter of time before I become a Second Year, while you become a Fourth Year.”
“My schedule is free,” Aeris replied. “So, if you plan to go somewhere, I am tagging along.”
Alex flinched after hearing her words. The young man had planned to go to the last trial of The Hermit during vacation and come back stronger in his second year of the academy.
That year would also be the turning point of the story of ELO when all the major factions would start attacking Frieden Academy seriously.
‘I also need to ask Uncle Lex about the special force called Shield Breakers of the Aetherion Empire,’ Alex thought.
The Guardian of the North should have plenty of information about the special forces of the empire since he had served it for a very long time.
He was tempted to tell the Headmaster of the Academy, Professor Rowan, about his true identity, but he decided against it.
After all, Alex had no intention of returning to the Aetherion Empire and fighting for the right of succession.
He only wanted to be free and enjoy his life with his lovers while building a family with them.
Unfortunately, Reverse Alex’s words made him understand that there were some things in life that were beyond his control.
Even if he didn’t want trouble, it always knocked on his door whether he liked it or not.
His counterpart now wielded a sword. That much was true.
But Alex was certain that, once upon a time, Reverse Alex used to wield a shield.
And the changes in his personality might be linked to his failing to protect people with his shield.
He wondered what kind of turning point had made him switch to wielding the sword instead.
A weapon meant to kill, instead of a shield meant to defend.
‘Just what happened for you to end up like that?’ Alex sighed in his heart.
He felt Reverse Alex’s rage.
He saw the disdain and contempt on his face whenever he looked at the shield that Alex wielded.
It was as if the shield was reminding him of a past that he wished he could forget forever.
