Chapter 2141: Mellowing Down
Chapter 2141: Mellowing Down
-----
"Don’t growl at me young lady! Last warning!" I said angrily.
"Or what? What are you going to do anyway!?" she said angrily. "What could you possibly-"
"R A A A A A H H H!"
I roared back at her, a roar so intensely she fell to the floor and was almost flattened, several of her scales shattering and her eyes widening in disbelief.
The immense pressure made her almost faint.
"You think you can intimidate ME with such pathetic growls?! Are we beasts or are we dragons?! Amethyst? Answer me right now!"
"W-We are dragons..."
"And how do we dragons solve things?"
"Through... talking?"
"Yes."
I sighed in relief, at least she was trying to change. I quickly healed her to full health, a new layer of shiny scales growing over her body.
"Now stand up, let me prepare this food for you first."
"What?! You’re cooking here?"
"Don’t worry, they won’t get to me unless I want to. And it is more efficient if I cook this for you than by eating it raw."
"Ahh... But... Weren’t you mad a second ago?"
"I was, and I still am... but that doesn’t mean I’ll simply abandon you. I just want you to learn to be respectful, thoughtful, and not reckless. These are the key elements you need to improve yourself, and become stronger."
"..."
She remained in silence, looking at the floor, as Jord floated by my side.
"He’s not wrong, Amethyst, you need to be respectful to him, thoughtful of your own actions, and not reckless, jumping into danger is never a good option," Jord explained to her. "Dear, you are strong and I’m proud you took these beasts down so easily, but that doesn’t mean you can lower your guard."
"Remember that this is a Soul Realm, your soul is the true thing in danger here," I explained. "A few bites or slash attacks from those things, and your soul would have shattered into pieces... And you know that it means certain death, right?"
"I-I... I understand..." Amethyst sighed, looking down. "It’s going to be hard to avoid them without Soul Gear though... How do I even make it?"
"I’ll teach you later, for now I’ll make some with what you got here to begin with, and we’ll go upgrading these pieces of Soul Gear with new materials as we descend the mountain’s interior," I said. "How about it?"
"R-Really?! That’s..." Amethyst was happy but suddenly stopped herself from saying anything.
"She’s too shy, but she wanted to thank you," Jord told me.
"Haha, yes, I can tell she wanted to do that, she’s like that after all," I laughed. "Alright, let’s begin. Amethyst, you’ll train your patience now. Use your claws to slowly separate the meat from the crystals of your prey."
"Eh? What? Why should I even... ugh, whatever," Amethyst rolled her eyes, as she did as she was told.
Well, she was quite obedient in the end, wasn’t she?
...
She did a pretty good job, after almost an hour of working hard, she managed to butcher the creatures with her bare claws, although a little messy, it was a good way to train her patience.
She was left annoyed and frustrated at the end, but the good thing was that she was able to achieve what she was asked.
I proceeded to quickly cook something out for her... and myself, I was also feeling a little hungry.
The meat of Crystal Soul Beasts was dark red, quite hard, and juicy. Cutting this meat felt like cutting pieces of log.
I had to use my Cooking Divinity and various techniques to make the meat more tender and delicious. I crushed the meat using a hammer first, then I added some spices and salt, and fried it covered on flour over a lot of oil.
I also prepared some of the other meat into minced meat, and made meatloaf, hamburgers, meatballs, and more... I also ended up making noodles and tomato sauce with the meatballs, because I was feeling like eating pasta today.
Once I was done, there was so much meat it would feed a whole army of a thousand soldiers, but it was just barely enough for two hungry dragons.
"Hmm?! This is good! Oooh! What are these worm things?"
"They aren’t worms! They are dough made out of flour, they’re called noodles," I explained. "I’m glad you like them."
"I-I haven’t said anything like that...!" Amethyst said shyly, as she devoured every meal that was in front of her without stopping.
As she did, she slowly grew stronger, as her Soul was overflowing with Soul Essence.
And once we were finished with this quick meal, she was left shocked.
"I feel so full, but in my soul! It’s insane... it has grown bigger again!" she said. "Is this what you said?"
"Indeed, I’m glad it worked," I nodded. "You’ll get even stronger than this too, if you eat even more of their meat and blood. I mixed their blood in every meal too, so you’ve eaten everything they had to offer. We should keep moving."
"But what about the Soul Gear?" she asked.
"Right, almost forgot about that..." I nodded. "Let me show you how it’s done."
I quickly did a rapid crafting session with her, mixing Alchemy, Forging, and Creation together, showing her how to sew together the monster leather, mix the crystals and powder into hard shell-like armor and more.
Amethyst watched attentively, learning more with each thing I created, until I was done. She probably cannot replicate it right away, but it was good she learned how it was done to an extent.
"I made you a set of Soul Armor," I explained. "Crystal Soul Beast Helmets, Gauntlets, Graves, Torso Armor, and Shoulder pads. I also crafted a Soul Ring using the monster’s crystals and their blood."
"H-How do I equip them?" Amethyst asked.
"Easy, simply grab them and put them on by thinking about it," I explained. "Imagine your soul is wearing these..."
