Chapter 2213: Chris Bluefield
Chapter 2213: Chris Bluefield
-----
"Have I seen you before?" he asked her.
"Huh? No..." Benladann said. "You haven’t..."
"Okay..." the man sighed, walking toward Drake. "My name is Chris Bluefield, Government Agent... or rather, ex-agent, more like a zombie apocalypse survivor now. Looking for my missing team members. We were protecting a shelter from zombies and mutants until suddenly the sky cracked open, like a damn boiled egg, and we fell here."
"I see... so that’s how you saw it," Drake nodded. "Indeed, you’ve fallen into another world. As unlikely and as crazy as it sounds, this is the reality you’re now living. It’s complicated to explain, but this world was almost destroyed and ended up absorbing your world to survive. Fragments of it will continue popping up until everything stabilizes."
"Huh?"
"What?"
"The hell?"
"I don’t get it..."
Most people were quite confused, but Chris Bluefield somehow understood it more than the rest. As a government agent, he knew a lot of things nobody else did.
"The multiverse theory, huh? Dimensions and stuff? I learned about that back in the labs. Scientists love messing with stuff like that. I thought this whole mess was because of that Quantum Gate project that had been shelved recently but was suddenly revived. I’m glad it wasn’t, though I’m not particularly happy either way. This is quite literally an apocalypse on an apocalypse. It can’t get worse, right?" he sighed.
"It can..." Drake smiled lightly. "But that’s not important right now. We’d better cleanse you all and take down the parasites."
"I can do it," Miranda said. "I’ve pinpointed them. I can send a shockwave of psychic energy directly at them, and then we can crush them before they try to get into another host."
"Sounds like a plan," Chris Bluefield said. "So what sort of power do you— Mold?!"
Chris Bluefield gasped as he saw Miranda’s hands turn into black mud, growing red eyes that pulsated with psychic power.
FLASH!
A red shockwave emanated from her hand, reaching those who were infected. The parasites inside them quickly reacted, making the people twist in pain and groan, vomiting a large worm-like creature that struggled on the ground.
The people there panicked and screamed, trying to run away from the thing. Miranda closed her fist, making the creatures suddenly explode using her sheer psychic power. Each parasite was decimated completely.
"Now, {Cleansing Light}!"
Benladra acted right afterward, releasing a bright white and golden light that healed everyone there, helping them recover their stamina and exhaustion and dealing with any wounds or diseases they had. At the same time, the bright light burned the parasites’ remains into ashes.
"Impossible..."
Chris Bluefield was shaken and taken aback as he glanced at the young Benladra, his eyes widening. There was no such power in his world. No Esper could ever heal people to this extent, let alone destroy the parasites so easily while doing so.
"It’s done," Drake said, nodding. "Thank you, Miranda, Benladra. With this, all of you should be safe from the virus. Benladra’s magic has also blessed your bodies. This blessing should at least protect you against any disease and the like."
"What?"
"Really?"
"The parasites are gone..."
"I feel like I’ve regained all of my energy somehow..."
"Unbelievable..."
"Hey Chris! Chris! What is this?! Is this real life?! Are we really saved?"
"I don’t know...! I just..." Chris Bluefield muttered, glancing at Benladra. "Girl, just what did you do?!"
"Huh?" Benladra tilted her head, confused. "I just healed everyone... It’s nothing too hard. I just used my magic and my Unique Skill."
"..." Chris Bluefield was once more shocked. "Magic? So there’s magic in this world... It’s a fantasy world through and through, huh? I would have never imagined such a place existed at all... All of this was just fantasy written in books or in video games or something. Who would have thought... everything humanity has dreamed for so long was real in another world? Far away from our own...?"
"It’s shocking, I know," Drake nodded. "But you have to accept it and quickly adapt to this world. The cracks are too unstable. I doubt you’ll be able to return for the time being... I’m sorry."
"Ah, no... we would rather stay here than go back to that hellhole," Chris said. "But I don’t really know what to do now... What is this world anyway? What do we do? Where do we go?"
"I suppose you should start by trying to survive," Benladann said.
"Yeah, securing food and shelter, like anybody," Drake said. "And then you can learn about the world better. It just so happens I can provide all of that. I have a special Divine Realm where you could stay. I doubt any of you people would want to go back to fighting zombies, right?"
Nobody said anything once Drake spoke. It was quite obvious that these survivors didn’t want anything to do with zombies anymore.
"You have a way to provide them with that?" Chris asked. "The people living here have been really hostile with us, so I doubt they’re the ones."
"I mean, I could force them to, but that wouldn’t be out of good faith, more like because they just fear me," Drake sighed. "So no, I won’t ask them. Despite everything, I cannot trust them. I will bring you inside my Divine Realm, a world within my very soul that I control and protect. You will be safe there, I promise."
"Sure, I mean..."
"Is it really safe?"
"At this point..."
"Well, he saved us..."
"You could also simply go on your own. You have that choice," Drake said. "I’ll provide you with some money and some basic knowledge, and then the world of Yggdrasil is yours to explore. Bear in mind, there are dangers here worse than the zombies. Monsters roam the wild lands."
"Monsters?"
"What..."
"So there’s magic, other races, and monsters... it’s really like D&D, huh?"
"I kind of want to go and explore. I’ve given up on life already, and I had been just miraculously saved..."
"I’d rather trust him and go inside that Divine Realm... I just want to find a place to take care of my son..."
