Chapter 2236: Soul Vow

"Hahaha! They’re as bold as I remember them," laughed Augustus. "Don’t worry, Drake. I did plan to give them something in case they asked for it. Catch."

He threw two more storage relics at them. They quickly checked them for a moment. I couldn’t see what was inside, but their eyes widened, and they nodded.

Both were pleased.

"Very well."

"Fine."

Both agreed in the end.

Whatever was inside those cubes was as valuable as what he gave to me.

"It is a deal then. Is your alliance based on any sort of vow? Perhaps a divine vow? Is it a contract made out of Venerable Treasures? Are you blood bound or something?" Augustus asked.

"No, none of that," the Ice Queen said. "Mostly just... trust."

"Yeah," said Belle. "And also circumstances... such as how this idiot destroyed my inheritance."

"He completed mine," the Ice Queen smiled. "Though, there is indeed a ’vow’ of sorts. It is between our souls and divine realms. They’re connected. Our Divine Realms fused with his own, or well, a large part of what remained. Though we’ve prohibited him from taking anything until we resurrect."

"Yeah, I’ve been glaring at all those treasures from a distance," I sighed. "But nothing for now..."

"Be more patient, will you, Drake?" the Ice Queen said.

"You’ll get some eventually! You ate my entire freaking Divine Inheritance, remember?" Belle asked.

"I do, I do, stop screaming at me..." I rolled my eyes. "Anyway, Augustus, I think we can do a Soul Vow. The one that breaks the vow by betraying the other in any way, shape, or form will get struck by a soul-destroying curse."

"Sounds fair to me," he nodded.

Heh, even if my soul is blowing up into pieces, it can quickly regenerate at this point if I simply merge it with my Immortal Body, making an Immortal Soul temporarily, so I don’t even get affected by this!

With the help of the Ice Queen and Belle, a special contract was formed, which we all signed. I also ended up calling Surtr, teleporting him into my Divine Realm and then bringing him along in a hurry. He was sleeping when I called him, so he looked sleepy.

"Uuh, to think a new venerable appeared... well, thanks for joining us, sir."

"No problem, kid."

Augustus happily signed the new contract, and when the signing process was done, it disappeared, turning into light that flew into our souls.

"With this, the first-ever Venerable Alliance in history is born," the Ice Queen said. "And we already have five Venerables! I think we’ll be unstoppable once Belle and I revive."

"We can just gang up on the other bastards together and suppress them easily," Belle giggled, showing her sharp teeth. "That’ll be delightful. If they get in our way, we can take them down or force them to agree to the contract, hehe."

"Hmm, you may be quite the vixen, but your ideas are indeed quite good, Belle," Augustus nodded, stroking his long beard. "Well, for now, I shall get accustomed to Drake’s Divine Realm, our home base, right? May I see it?"

"Only if you agree to let me see yours," I said.

"Fine, I don’t mind," Augustus nodded. "Oh, right, I should be impartial, here."

He suddenly gave Surtr a cube, another storage relic, which confused him at first until I explained what it was, making him rather happy.

Then, he checked the inside, his eyes widening.

"Amazing, these are super rare materials! I’ll take them, thanks a lot!" he said happily. "Um, master, can I go back now?"

"Sure thing. Sorry for calling you in the middle of the night, Surtr," I said. "I really am sorry, but we needed you around."

"It’s fine. I’ll always be happy to help you," he nodded as I patted his head, and he quickly decided to go back home.

However, he stopped...

"Huh?"

He looked behind him, suddenly feeling something.

"What’s wrong?"

"I feel... there’s... there’s something..."

"What is it?"

"..."

He remained silent, as he didn’t seem to know what to say.

"It was weird... I felt someone, a living being, maybe a soul? It was somewhat connected to me but, at the same time, not really..." he muttered. "They’re close..."

"They are?" I wondered. "It’s late at night, so everyone is sleeping right now..."

"A-Ah, I see..." Surtr remained silent for a few seconds. "Can I come back tomorrow morning before you depart, master? I need to find this person..."

"Sure..." I said. "But what’s going on?"

"I’ll explain it to you tomorrow... sorry..." he sighed. "I’ll go to sleep now. Thank you, Augustus, for your gifts and the alliance."

"Don’t worry," Augustus nodded as Surtr quickly disappeared.

"Well, that was certainly strange," Belle said. "But also none of my business. I’m out."

"I’ll be going as well," the Ice Queen said, quickly disappearing.

Both of them were gone, and Augustus stayed there, glancing at me with a smile while Andromeda remained behind me, looking at him with curiosity.

"Shall we go check your divine realm then?" he asked.

"Fine," I nodded. "You can stay inside if you really want to, too."

"Oho? You’re giving me lodging inside? Well, aren’t you nice?" he smiled. "Let’s first see how nice it is before I make my decision, though!"

I guided the old man inside as we traveled the skies. He was quite surprised and amazed by the many sights, even more so when we went to space and there were some huge stars there.

"Impressive! Hahaha! So many new treasures I have never seen before! Oh, I am excited to work with them and see what I can do!" he said. "If you ever need help, just ask!"

"Oh, okay then," I nodded. "Actually, there’s something I wanted to show you and ask you about."

"Hm?"

We quickly descended to the surface again as I showed him my many weapons and how they merged into Celestial, surprising him.

"Incredible! You can fuse these Divine Weapons into a Venerable Weapon?!" he was flabbergasted. "And you did it without needing me..."

"Yeah," I nodded. "But I’m sure it isn’t as good as what you can create. But there’s more."

I quickly imbued the power of my other spirits into Celestia and then transformed her into Muramasa, the katana.
