Chapter 2253: The Black Tower

"Drake! There’s a giant tower in the way!" Charlotte suddenly made Drake look forward.

And indeed, a gigantic black tower floated in the air. Fuyu moved so fast that...

BOOOM!

It crashed right into it, as the walls collapsed alongside the powerful divine formation around it, which acted as a barrier.

"W-What the...?!"

Drake looked around, worried if everyone was safe. The explosion of divine energy was enormous, but his Aura protected them. Fuyu and Charlotte were alright too, albeit dizzy.

"Uuggh...! What the hell? It wasn’t there when we were moving. It teleported in front of us!" Charlotte complained. "Eh? Where are we? Wait, we’re inside the tower?!"

Everyone gasped as they saw the vast and enormous interior of the floating black tower, with walls and ceiling made of black bricks, but what filled everything else was strange.

It was like a gigantic lab, vastly enormous and labyrinthine.

"We’re inside a lab!" Benladra said.

"Huh? This is weird. Which faction does this tower belong to?" Benladann wondered.

"Guys! Look!" Emerald called, as the wind dragon quickly transformed into his draconic form, pointing into the distance where a large horde of creatures charged toward them.

It was hundreds of Skeleton Chimeras, made of the bones of various Divine Monsters and covered in weird Magitech, including colorful tubes and strange crystals, fueled with Alchemy to become even stronger.

"Intruder detected!"

"Intruder detected!"

"Proceed to destroy intruders at all costs!"

The Skeletons spoke with an almost robotic voice, surrounding Fuyu entirely, giant cannons attached to their backs pointed at her and fired hundreds of missiles, bullets, and laser beams at them.

"Are you kidding me?! We hardly have time for this bullshit!" Augustus grew furious, manifesting a giant blazing hammer out of thin air. "Begone, vermin!"

RUMBLE!

The hundred-meter hammer slammed down, crushing hundreds of Skeletons and sending a blazing shockwave, disintegrating the rest in quick succession, while also shattering the floor beneath the area of the attack, revealing another floor similar to this one, where more Skeleton Beasts crawled from.

"Are you kidding me?!" Augustus groaned. "Why are we even wasting our time in this shitty piece of crap tower?! Drake, just rush through it! We’ve got no freaking time!"

"I know! Charlotte, Fuyu, let’s—"

"WHO DARES BREAK THROUGH MY TOWER AND DESTROY MY PROPERTY?!"

However, out of nowhere, a powerful and intimidating voice echoed through the black tower, as everyone suddenly stopped talking... or even breathing for a moment.

A pitch-black fog moved everywhere, stealing the breath of everyone present, as it rapidly gathered into a massive, intimidating shadowy silhouette with five heads, each with very long necks.

The eyes of each head glowed with bright red light, and as it emerged, a giant pair of black wings spread out, alongside two formidable and muscular arms and legs, and a long tail divided into five through its center.

"This presence...!"

Drake’s eyes widened, as he felt an immensely overwhelming presence of an element he had only delved into and been familiar with several years ago by accident, but had never gone too far into obtaining or mastering.

Death!

"You’re seriously asking me that question?! I am the Venerable of the Onyx Hammer! Move your tower, or I’ll blow it away with the next blow!" Augustus roared, having had enough.

"Wait, Augustus, calm down!" Drake said, looking back at the shadowy figure. "You’re... are you Hydra, the Death Dragon?!"

"HMMM?!"

The presence was shocked, remaining silent for a second or two, before speaking again, his tone of voice much less intimidating now.

"Wait, you know me?"

"I do! I am Drake, the Dragon King! The various Primordial Dragon Mothers told me about you. Hydra, you’re currently the only Death Dragon living on the surface of this world, right?" Drake asked.

"I... I am... wait, Drake?! No way! So you came in the end, huh? I got a message from my grandmother saying you were coming, hahaha! What a coincidence you ended up crashing into my tower while I was running the hell away from that weird vortex!"

"So you were running away?!" Miranda asked. "You’re a dragon!"

"No way, is he a coward?" Amethyst wondered, raising an eyebrow.

"He must be!" Triton nodded.

"Definitely a coward," Tisha suddenly joined the conversation, crossing her burly arms.

"Tisha, don’t talk like that about divine dragons!" Pekora said, trying to shut her mouth. "And stay silent while they talk too! Don’t be disrespectful!"

"Haha, it’s fine, you can talk all you want too," Surtr smiled gently. "Wow, so you’re a Death Dragon? I had no idea you guys were made of black fog..."

"Ah, this is not... you’re a dragon too? Wait, you’re Surtr! And you must be Emerald...! And Amethyst, and... uuuh, who’s that little one? And the pink one?"

"Little one?! I’m Triton, the Sea Dragon Prince!" Triton said angrily. "And I can beat your ass whenever I want to, so don’t be disrespectful!"

"Hydra, you don’t recognize me? It has been a couple of years, but it’s me, Celene. I am in my Dragonoid form right now," Celene said.

"C-Celene! Ah, right! Wow, so you assembled a whole team?!"

"Um, yeah... Huh, you dropped the whole serious and intimidating act pretty quickly, eh?"

"That’s because there’s no point in pretending if you’re all here anyway..."

Hydra sighed, his shadowy form rapidly morphing into his true form, revealing his gray and black scales and how his heads were covered in bone-like growths, making them resemble skulls.

"I am indeed Hydra, the Death Dragon! And it seems you’ve crashed into my tower... I wish I could offer you a cup of tea and make something to eat, but... Hmm, I suppose that’s not possible right now, huh?"

"Of course not, now move!" Augustus roared, about to smash Hydra with his hammer.

"Can’t you calm down for a second?!" Drake sighed. "Hydra, we’ve got no time, but I had originally intended to find you to get your blood and perhaps your aid in what’s to come. We have to stop Oberon before the whole world collapses!"
