Chapter 2255: Last Speech
Chapter 2255: Last Speech
-----
Drake admired the chaotic landscape, something that hadn’t even happened when he fought Pandemonium or Chaos. The three continents seemed to be slowly being destroyed as the vortex gradually increased in size over time.
The portals and spacetime distortions leading to Earth and Zipangu seemed to constantly spread and open further, revealing large fragments of the worlds hanging upside down and slowly joining the vortex.
Surrounding the vortex where all three continents met, giant sharp needle-like spires grew, composed of strange purple and red crystallized dimensional energy, forming a peculiar formation around the vortex. This wasn’t just the effect of the vortex, but the spires were deliberately placed there, perhaps to provoke it.
"We’ve pretty much killed all of his Soul Fragments at this point..." Drake said, glancing at the chaotic sight, his eyes filled with wonder. "But even now, his main Soul Fragment, the elf, remains alive, right?"
"Yeah..." Alma said, standing close by. "That bastard that killed my parents... he’ll pay for this. I’ll make sure to crush his damn face."
"I think the same..." Benladann said. "The final battle is approaching, Drake. I know we won’t lose, but even then... I think you should give everyone a small speech, to inspire them a little."
"Benladann..." Drake muttered, realizing that everyone was here because of him.
He had rallied everyone together right now. He had brought them here, merged their paths with his own, and now he had led them to stop the world from ending.
He smiled lightly, nodding.
Drake walked toward the rest of his friends and allies, calling them to gather before him.
"Things are accelerating at a speed I honestly didn’t expect everyone... The world is in peril. I always knew it kind of was... but now, we’re finally going to face it. Yggdrasil has gone through its fair share of destruction and suffering. It had almost ended twice, or even thrice before. The era of the gods, dragons, and titans is almost gone, and we, the new generation, are the ones to put a stop to this destruction, like they once did."
"However, I won’t do it like they did... No, this time, we will end everything once and for all. Oberon, his true soul, any of the Venerables that get in our way, and whatever else... we’ll take them down for good. And once we finally finish all of this... once we’re done, hopefully, the world will become a better place, and we will all be alive."
"I... am not the best with speeches, even less with addressing so many people like I’m doing right now... but I wanted to tell you all that I really appreciate you for being here. I really am... very grateful. For your friendship, for your loyalty, for just being here, and for trying to make a difference with me, despite the odds and despite how dangerous it could be."
"Everyone... we’ll do this together."
They glanced at Drake in awe. Even though it wasn’t the best speech, it truly touched their hearts, and even the most reserved ones felt moved. Triton and Amethyst shed a few tears, even though they were among the last to join, alongside Celene, who looked like a mess while crying. Hydra was moved too, even though he had joined them only five minutes ago.
"Of course, master!" Surtr nodded happily. "Let’s save the world together, this beautiful world that gave us all a second chance... We can’t possibly abandon it now!"
"I agree!" Emerald nodded. "Although I am not a Reincarnator, this world still gave me a second chance when I was at my lowest, and it was because I found you that my life finally changed and I slowly became someone better. Thank you, master, I really appreciate you being here!"
"Ugh... I hate to get emotional, but to be honest, they’re not wrong," Amethyst nodded. "You changed my life and saved me when I was at my lowest too... Without you, I would have never been able to avenge my mother. So I’m really grateful, master. And... count on me till the bitter end. We dragons stand united, as a big family."
"W-Well, yeah...!" Triton nodded. "I have yet to really spend that much time around here, but... the time I’ve spent has been great! And you were the one who saved my country... twice at that! I’ll show you and the world that I am my father’s son!"
"Drake, you showed up in my life only recently, but you’ve completely changed it," Celene said. "I am really grateful... Without you, I would have never gained the valor to come here and face my fears, and protect this world we all love, despite its many flaws..."
"I... uh, just met you, but I think you’re an admirable man," Hydra nodded.
"Yeeaaah, I mean, we’ve known each other for years now at the very least," Alma said. "You also lived with us with that little slime for years and helped us in a lot of things, so we kind of bonded a lot anyway, right? I’m glad you’re here, and that you brought us along..."
"Yes, I agree," Root nodded. "Thank you, Drake, for coming to our lives and giving us the opportunities we needed to finally accomplish our goals."
"We only joined just now, but you showed us that there was indeed hope in this new world," Lucia said. "I don’t want it to all end, of course, so I’m going to help in anything I can! Even more now that, thanks to you, I was able to meet my brother again..."
"What Lucia said... I’m not good with words, I’ve never been," Chris Bluefield sighed, crossing his arms. "But yeah, let’s do this."
"I’m finally with my sister..." Jake said. "I’ll follow her wherever she goes and help her in whatever her goals are."
"You saved me not only once but twice, against my own family and the Vampire Venerable, and then against my own powers," Ruby said. "Now I stand as another Venerable, and I’ll give you all the strength I have."
