Chapter 2270: Emerald’s Plan
Chapter 2270: Emerald’s Plan
-----
Surtr pierced the Chaos Dragon’s chest from behind with his drill. As the beast screamed and struggled, a massive surge of Origin Flames engulfed it. Its Aura, now significantly weakened, could no longer effectively negate or diminish elemental energies, giving Surtr the chance to finish it.
"{Primordial Origin Nova}!"
Hundreds of divine magic circles converged in a split second as Surtr conjured a colossal divine spell, engulfing the Chaos Dragon in a devastating nova of origin flames and plasma.
BOOOMMM!
The Origin Flames consumed the beast, rendering its regeneration impossible against these ancient flames. They devoured its flesh and bones, leaving only a large floating fragment, black and red, a Soul Fragment infested with dozens of Chaos Spirits.
"So it’s true... as Master said, Ragnarök was indeed the Primordial Dragon of Light, parasitized by hundreds of Chaos Spirits..." Surtr mused. "We once believed Chaos Spirits were indestructible, but they can be destroyed."
However, Surtr refrained from annihilating them. With a purifying flame, he forced the Chaos Spirits to detach from the Soul Fragment, which then vanished, returning to its rightful owner in the Dragon Realm of Light Dragons.
The Chaos Spirits fled his grasp in panic, scattering quickly, too weak to pose any further threat.
Concurrently, Emerald’s battle unfolded. His Celestial Winds surged from his body as he soared through the skies, deftly dodging the nimble Chaos Dragon’s attacks.
Its long, sharp claws, bladed tail, and serpentine head made it a formidable opponent. Emerald narrowly escaped being bitten on several occasions as they clashed at high speed through the skies.
The young wind dragon moved swiftly, zigzagging through the dark skies of Sangre’s Dominion while the Chaos Dragon pursued. Their claws collided, chaotic flames erupting against celestial winds, spawning tornadoes around them.
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
Emerald’s Demonic Alter Ego emerged through his other half, allowing him to channel Demonic Energy, which he fused with his Divine Power, a skill he had honed over time.
"{Demonic Vortex}!"
With a ferocious roar, Emerald ensnared the Chaos Dragon in a spiraling vortex of winds and demonic flames, propelling it skyward.
BOOOM!
The vortex detonated, consuming the beast’s body in a cataclysmic explosion that briefly warped the surrounding space.
Emerald charged toward his foe, engaging the creature as it emerged from the smoke, wounded but still resilient.
He swiftly summoned his Celestial Wind Gear, unique weapons and armor imbued with divine and spiritual elemental properties.
These were exclusive to Emerald, intrinsically tied to his winds and powers. He had previously equipped his wife, Amehia, and his father-in-law with them, as well as numerous soldiers during their exploration of the Dungeon in the Jungle Lizardmen’s village.
"Celestial Wind Spear!"
FLUOSH!
An emerald-colored spear materialized, piercing the Chaos Dragon’s chest, penetrating deeply and emerging from the other side.
Emerald conjured demonic winds, shaping them into hawks that surged toward the Chaos Dragon, bombarding it with explosions of wind and demonic flames.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"GRYYYSSSHAAAAAA!"
Despite being overwhelmed, the Chaos Dragon refused to yield. It spun rapidly, ripping the spear from its chest, kicked Emerald’s face, and leaped into the skies before diving down, striking him from all angles.
Kicks, punches, tail whips, and hundreds of miasmic venom droplets assaulted Emerald’s armor, turning it purple as it decayed and crumbled.
"Damn it, this thing’s fast!"
Emerald spun swiftly, kicking the air to unleash a shockwave of winds, sending the beast flying a few meters back. Seizing the moment, he surged forward, spear poised.
"TAKE THIS!"
CRAAASH!
The spear pierced the beast’s chest repeatedly, dozens of times, as Emerald’s extensive training with the weapon proved ideal for his wind-based fighting style. As a wind dragon, he could fly faster and more nimbly than any other winged creature, even other dragons.
Wind dragons, after all, reigned as the true kings of the skies.
"{Thunderstorm Spear}!"
His spear flashed with lightning, while dark clouds around Emerald unleashed thunderbolts, impaling and electrocuting the beast with both weapon and magic.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"GRRRRR!"
In its final struggle, the Chaos Dragon unleashed a shockwave of miasmic venom, corrupting Emerald’s elemental magic and causing his spear to turn purple and disintegrate.
"Your last struggle won’t stop me!"
Emerald roared, his Alter Ego merging further with him. His Celestial Winds and Demonic Soul Flames blended into green fire, spiraling upward and enveloping the Chaos Dragon in a massive tornado.
"{Demonic Soul Storm}!"
FLUOOOSH!
The Chaos Dragon wailed in agony within the vortex as Emerald prevented its escape, even as parts of his body melted from the venom.
Nothing remained of the Chaos Dragon but its floating Soul Fragment and the attached Chaos Spirits.
"Leave."
Emerald’s command resonated with the Chaos Spirits. They gazed at his figure and Aura, a complex fusion of kindness and the ruthlessness born from the necessity to adapt and grow.
Yet, the Chaos Spirits did not flee. Instead, they felt a profound admiration for him and the thousands of demon souls within him, now part of his essence.
He was an ideal vessel, far superior to their current host.
"Hm?!"
Emerald watched the Chaos Spirits fly toward him, attempting to latch onto his right arm, seeking to make him their vessel.
"Hmph, you think you can just come in?! It’s occupied by us already!" his Demonic Alter Ego roared furiously at the Chaos Spirits.
"No... wait," Emerald said, smiling at them. "I think there’s enough space for them. I can accommodate a few within my Soul."
"What?!" the Alter Ego exclaimed, furious... and jealous.
"I need as much power as I can muster for what’s coming... I could never reach the heights of Surtr or Master, let alone Amethyst or Triton. I have my winds, but they aren’t as potent as their unique abilities, right?" Emerald sighed.
"..." His Alter Ego could not refute that without the "Legion" of demon souls merged into Emerald’s soul, somewhat tamed by him, he would never approach their level.
"As long as you behave..." Emerald said. "And accept this Soul Contract."
