Chapter 2310: Oda Nobunaga’s Endless Castle [28]

-----

The Heavenly Venerable of Divine Providence spoke his mind and declared his goals, which he shared with his master, the Venerable of the Celestial Path. Their plan seemed just as terrible as destroying the world, eliminating all races except humans, and making humans the only intelligent beings on Yggdrasil.

This extended as far as making Dragons and Titans completely extinct, as they were considered ancient relics and monsters that further disturbed humanity’s growth. Naturally, this point of view felt very biased to Benladann and the rest, especially since they had nothing to do with the suffering the humans of Midgard had endured but were still targeted as if they had caused such pain to this man and his people.

It was a strange and insane point of view, born from suffering across many years, which Benladann, despite disliking the man, could understand to an extent and wished to learn more about.

She could tell that, deep within his insanity, there was a man who suffered greatly, perhaps from leading a life where he had made too many promises and disappointed too many people. A life filled with lies and hypocrisy, one he could no longer walk away from until his goal was accomplished, no matter how many died along the way.

However, he gave her little time to think about what to say, as the bloodthirsty Venerable leaped forward. His jump caused shockwaves that destroyed dozens of rooms behind him as his golden heavy blade swung down toward Benladann at lightning speed.

SLAAASH!

A destructive wave of pure divine light surged from it, alongside the heavy strike from the sword itself. Benladann summoned her Tiamat Shield to defend against the destructive blow, managing to block the direct physical attack, although the shockwaves generated from it still struck her, destroying everything around them in a massive explosion.

BOOOMMM!

"Nnnggh...!" Benladann groaned, as a powerful ethereal rainbow-colored scale armor manifested from Tiamat’s Shield. The item’s unique ability to absorb damage and use this power to generate a barrier around the user allowed her to barely survive, thanks to this equipment Drake had gifted to every one of his family members.

"A shield made from that ancient dragon?!" the Venerable scoffed. "Hah, let’s see how much it can take from my Venerable-Grade Sword!"

He swung his blade down once more, as Benladann panicked.

"Everyone, get back!"

As she cried out, the Venerable swung his blade down but was stopped midway, unable to strike Benladann, as black slimy tentacles wrapped around his entire body.

"What?!"

He groaned angrily, realizing a giant mass of black miasma had wrapped tightly around his body, inhibiting his movements and stopping his enormously muscular arms from moving down.

"You damn bastard...! How are you so freaking tough?!"

It was Miranda!

"Unhand me, you beast!" the Venerable roared angrily, as he began tearing through Miranda, only for her to rapidly recover and regrow larger, trying to parasitize his body but unable to pierce through his skin.

"Damn it, this guy is tougher than diamonds! What the hell is he made of?! Is he even human?!" Miranda complained.

"Mama!"

"We have to fight him."

"We’ll beat him!"

The children quickly got ready, transforming into their gigantic and intimidating dragon forms and unleashing their Divine Draconic Auras. A spark of Golden Dragon King’s Essence flowed through them, their bodies sometimes shifting into golden forms and then reverting to their original forms, as if a part of their father’s power now remained within them permanently but was unstable.

"HAAAAHHH!"

All three roared, unleashing a gigantic formation by combining and compressing their Auras. Bright chains of gold, silver, and black energies manifested, wrapping around the Venerable and trying to bring him down.

"You damn beasts! Who do you think you are?! Do you truly believe you can hold me?! I am a great Venerable! I bring forth Providence to my people and Misfortune to my enemies!" the Venerable roared, his power constantly rising as he fought back against the multiple powers trying to restrain him.

"I see that you’re suffering, but there’s no need for us to fight!" Benladann tried to appeal to his humanity, holding her axe tightly. "We can solve things differently! If humans are suffering so much in Midgard, Drake can go there later and solve the problem! We’ve saved many tribes and people before. Why would he be impartial toward humans when he and I were humans before?"

"You were?!" the Venerable asked in disbelief, and then his face twisted into a mocking grin. "Hahahah! You think that because you’re one of those Reincarnators, somehow that’s going to change my mind?! Don’t make me laugh! You’re no longer humans! If anything, you’re just race traitors!"

"Race traitors?! Wha... What the fuck are you even talking about?!" Benladann slapped the man’s face with all her force, leaving it red like a tomato.

"You damn... woman...! You dare slap... me?!" he groaned. "Slapped not by a human even, but a filthy ice giant?!"

BOOOM!

His Aura exploded, releasing rays of light everywhere, destroying Miranda’s tentacles by boiling and burning them into ashes and breaking apart the chains and the formation that created them instantly.

"Uuagh!" Miranda screamed in pain, as Benladann quickly rushed to her side.

"Miranda!" Benladann grabbed her, seeing her quickly recover back to her humanoid form. She had taken a bit too much damage.

"That guy’s nuts! We can only fight and kill him. Don’t try to reason with him, Benladann! Not when we’ve got kids with us!" Miranda said.

"You’re right!" Benladann nodded, as Miranda quickly hugged her, turning into miasma-like black sludge and merging into her skin and soul.

FLUOSH!

"Hm?!"

The Venerable glared back at Benladann, only to notice her power suddenly beginning to skyrocket rapidly. Before, she was nothing but a weakling small fry, but now her power had become rather considerable.

Benladann’s body rapidly grew in size, the same as the children, but her form wasn’t entirely that of a dragon, as she remained an ice giant with blue skin, but with purple and black scales growing across her body, alongside long wings, a tail, and horns—a cross between Titans and Dragons.

Her muscular back spread out her wings, as the Venerable’s face twisted into utter disgust and disbelief at what he saw, growing angrier when she glared back at him while still facing away.
