Chapter 3255 Spiritual Attacks

As Alex stepped forward, the regular aura around him vanished, replaced with a thick yang aura that burned through all senses. To anyone using their senses to locate him, he would be nothing more than a hole in their perception that they could not see.

Alex watched the birds as he moved, seeing if they would react to this aspect of him in any way. He wasn't sure if the birds' Divine sense was the same as everyone else's.

As he walked forward, it became clear that the birds could not notice him at all. If he wanted to, he could reach the center faster than even Wu Tanglan was.

However, he needed to help Pearl and Scarlet.

Alex took a deep breath and stared up at the sky as he released the yang aura. As soon as he was revealed to the birds, one of them came down toward him without a moment of hesitation.

Alex stood still, letting the bird come down on him. Because he was doing nothing, the bird didn't speed up at all. It took a leisurely arc down. When it was just 10 meters away from him, Alex used Heaven's Impact.

The bird instantly popped like a bubble, yellow fire spreading all around him before vanishing.

Alex felt a sense of relief that he hadn't realized he needed. He immediately surrounded himself with yang aura again, turning toward Pearl and Scarlet.

"It works," he told them through their bonds. "Come."

Pearl and Scarlet needed not another second to move. Immediately, the two beasts sprang forward, both ready with their techniques.

Pearl split himself into 5 different versions of himself, using the White Tiger's Steps to make it harder for the birds to kill him.

Scarlet used the Vermilion Bird's Burning Spirit technique to create a phoenix flame aura that hurt any spirit that came toward her. The domain the aura formed was nearly 8 meters around her, which gave a good enough buffer zone for the two.

With Alex not even being in any danger of being targeted by the birds, the three moved.

Seeing another two participants move, the rest of the beasts were quickly forced to make a decision themselves as well. Since there could only be 5 total participants in the next trial, if they didn't move now, they might end up failing the whole thing even if they got to the center.

So, a few of those beasts began moving as well, using techniques and artifacts to conceal themselves.

Two birds came down upon Pearl and Scarlet just as they reached Alex.

Pearl ignored the one that came down for him. Just one of his 5 selves was worth it to distract one of the birds.

Alex was about to shoot down the other bird that came toward Scarlet, but she stopped him almost immediately.

"I need to test if my technique works or not," she said. "I have to find out while there is only a single bird. I can't afford to test it after they multiply"

Alex nodded and stopped.

Scarlet's aura flared when the bird reached her Burning Spirit domain, and like a snowflake meeting flame, the bird evaporated into nothingness, vanishing in the air.

"Wooh!" Scarlet rejoiced upon seeing that she could still do it. "It works. Let's go."

The three moved at a speed that was no more than a light jog. Between walking and running, they kept a pace that was just enough

for none of the birds to come down at them too quickly.

Pearl and Scarlet had only made it a hundred or so meters away when another batch of birds came down on them. This time, there were 4 of them, 2 for each of them.

As they came down, Alex stepped forward, releasing a wave of spiritual energy that blasted each of the 4 birds that were approaching the two. Nothing remained of them, and they continued once again.

Wu Tanglan was in a similar situation to the two, taking his time with the path to the center.

Unlike Alex, who was destroying the birds, Wu Tanglan was entirely relying on his Dao. And while it worked perfectly until now, he had to be careful not to lose focus.

At the same time, he also couldn't move when the birds came down on him, as he could never be certain where they would land. If they refracted next to him or behind him, then that was fine. But if they refracted before him and he was in motion, there was a danger of him hitting the bird head-on.

So each time the birds came down on him, he stopped, which he had to do a lot as he got further away, as the number of birds that came down on him increased little by little.

Every hundred meters or so, another bird added to the number, which kept growing. He was halfway to the platform when 10 different birds landed around him. If more continued, he feared he could not continue refracting them, as each thing that was affected by the Dao cost him a little of his Intent.

And there was only so much of it he could use.

Wu Tanglan saw the birds coming and stopped, taking the moment to look toward the side. When he did, he was surprised to see the sight of the phoenix, the white feline beast, and the human of all people

moving forward at a pace that was better than his own.

Unlike him, they weren't stopping.

'There's no way this is happening,' he thought. The last 3 times he had

taken these trials, he had always been the only one to pass it. And

now, there were going to be 3 more?

'How are they even doing it?' he thought, confused. 'Are they using

spiritual attacks?"

Wu Tanglan couldn't help but scoff a little after seeing that.

'If they hope to survive with spiritual attacks alone, they're in for a

rude awakening,' he thought. But there was something more that caused him to frown.

The number of birds. It didn't match the amount of people that were

there.
