Chapter 3256 Increasing Birds

Chapter 3256 Increasing Birds

Alex counted the birds that came down for them each time. Each time, 1 bird was added for each person there. Because they couldn't sense Alex in the slightest, Pearl and Scarlet's presence made 2 more birds come down during the next attack.

Pearl's 4 bodies were destroyed the last time, so he was conserving his energy. Which meant it was her turn to handle the birds.

As 12 fire birds came down toward them in an irregular pattern, Scarlet flared her Burning Spirit domain, killing them all in one go. When the birds died, she breathed in and out, taking a moment to gather herself.

"Are you okay?" Alex asked, seeing her struggle a little.

"Yes," she said. "Somewhat. I'm using the technique wrong, and it's taking a toll on me."

"Right," Alex said. "You said it's a defensive domain, and yet you're using it offensively!"

Scarlet nodded. "It's meant to stop spiritual attacks, not actual spirits. It takes a bit too much out of me with each attack, and with their numbers increasing by 6 each time it's my turn, it's becoming harder." Pearl nodded to the side. "It's somewhat similar for me too. I don't know how many White Tiger's Roars I can muster before I'm mentally drained."

Alex nodded slowly, looking toward the center of the island. "We're halfway there already, so there's not much left," he said. "And don't worry. If you think you can't handle it, just say so. I'll take care of it." Pearl gave a thankful smile.

As they continued, Alex looked back at the few beasts that were still continuing, following their route and fighting back with spiritual attacks.

There were only 3 behind them, each lagging behind the other. Not a single one seemed good enough to continue, so Alex was curious to see if any of them would pass this test.

At the tiny chance that they could surpass them, however, he had to speed up.

A short distance later, more birds came down on them. Counting quickly, Alex saw 18 of them. If the birds could sense him, there would be 27 instead.

The birds were separated into two groups of 9 as they headed toward Pearl and Scarlet individually. If Pearl and Scarlet weren't staying close to each other, it likely wouldn't have been as easy to destroy them all at once.

Alex held his sword tightly and swung. A large white arc of sword slash moved through the incoming birds, the Spiritual Providence technique within the attack destroying the birds' spirits.

Destroying 18 birds at once took not a small chunk of energy, but it was necessary.

"Come on. We don't want to lose our distance to these new beasts," Alex told the two, and they sped up a little.

They were neck and neck with Wu Tanglan now, who was a distance away, constantly keeping his Dao of Refraction active.

When they reached some distance away, 20 more birds came down toward them. This time, it was Pearl's turn to get rid of them.

With a single White Tiger's Roar, he destroyed the 20 birds at once. Doing so also left him breathless and with not much spiritual energy remaining.

"I can likely only do this once more, brother," Pearl said. "I should eat a pill."

Alex thought for a bit. "Will you have enough to destroy 26 of them?" he asked.

Pearl thought for a moment and nodded.

"Then don't take it until you've used your attack," Alex said.

"But won't that be too late?" Pearl asked. "I won't have enough time to recover the energy required the next time I'm up."

"That's fine. You can only focus on recovering after that. I'll take care of the rest."

The next time the birds came, there were 22 of them, which Alex destroyed once again. A single sword stroke was all he needed to destroy them all.

A short distance later, there were 24 birds.

Scarlet poured everything she had into one last attack, destroying the 24 birds with her Burning Spirit technique. Once she was done, she was spent. Upon Alex's urging, she took her spirit replenishing pill and felt energy flowing through her mind once again, but this time, she wouldn't have to fight.

Alex attacked the next group of birds, destroying it.

Pearl couldn't help but stare at Alex with a look of awe. "How are you doing this, brother?" he asked. "You're taking twice as much load as

us. How are you not tired yet?"

Alex smiled. "Did I not tell you? My spiritual sea, which was already

big, became twice its size when we came out of the Void. Not only that, my spiritual energy is also strong enough to be near Divine energy. As such, I have both quality and quantity in my favor. While you two are about empty, I'm not even half done."

Pearl and Scarlet were genuinely surprised by that. They were aware of the fact that Alex's spiritual energy was stronger, but they hadn't known just how large it was.

And the only reason he was even having to use it at all was because of them. Had they not been here, Alex would've long since passed the

test.

Pearl used his last White Tiger's Roar and was spent as well. He ate the pill, recovering his spiritual energy and keeping it for the next trial, as they were most certainly going to need it.

Alex fought the remaining birds, no matter how many came. His spirit also replenished at a much faster rate than the others, so he could keep going a lot longer than most.

After continuing for some time, the number of birds reached 20 for

each, a total of 40. All 40 birds came down toward Pearl and Scarlet, and Alex stood before them. This time around, he couldn't reach them all with a sword slash, so he let out a wave of spiritual attack instead. Like a shockwave emanating from his mind, the power spread out in a bubble, destroying the fire birds the moment they touched it. That was the last of them, as Alex had finally reached the platform.
