Chapter 3258 The Two Spires

The ground shook with a blazing fury as two crystals of gargantuan size appeared from the lava right behind the group. As the lava dripped down the sides of the crystals, the spires revealed themselves to be of a prismatic shape with a pentagonal base that rose with nary a difference in size all the way through until a pyramid shape closed it at the top.

The pillars were both of the same size as well, nearly 20 meters tall and about 5 meters wide. The only difference between the two being that one was made of a white crystal and the other one black.

Alex stared at the crystals with some awe on his face and sneaked a glance toward Wu Tanglan, only to realize that he was equally in shock as well. Had the monkey not known this was supposed to happen either?

Before he could come up with any more thoughts, he was distracted by the master of the trial, as it gave another announcement regarding the two crystal spires.

"These are your second options," the bird said. "The White Spire is currently activated, which is responsible for everything within the island, from the platform to the suppression fields and everything in between. Deactivate it and you shall move on however you wish."

Alex was taken aback by the bird's words. Did that mean the limit of 2 participants passing would also be removed? That was a great thing. The bird continued. "The Black Spire is currently deactivated. It is a teleportation spire that will teleport you directly to the next trial. Activating and teleporting through this spire is accepted as you having completed this trial as well, even if you were not the first 2 to reach the center."

"These are your two options. You may use whatever method you prefer. Good luck."

The bird vanished after it spoke, leaving the group in a state of stunned silence. Before Alex could even think of anything, Wu Tanglan moved, immediately arriving at the black spire.

Perhaps because the spires were outside of the island, or because it was just meant to be that way, Wu Tanglan could fly all around the spire, searching for ways to activate it.

Should he find a way to activate it, he could immediately go past the poison trial and enter the 9th Trial. He wanted that very badly.

As he searched around, Scarlet turned toward Alex and Pearl. "The black one doesn't make sense for us, does it?" she asked. "If one of us somehow got to leave, the other two would be left alone with him. And I do not trust us to tread through this poison forest and come out alive while he's right there ready to overtake us."

Alex nodded. "We need to deactivate the white one, but I cannot imagine how we can possibly do that," he said.

He flew toward the White Spire and placed his palm on its surface, feeling anything he could from it. But there was nothing there that he could sense. The crystal was flat on all sides, with no formations or runes carved on any side.

He tried to sense the crystal down to its base, but his senses could not go past the lava. They stopped right where the crystal met it.

He stepped back on the island, his eyes narrowing. "The bird said we can use any means, right?" he asked.

Pearl nodded to the side. "Are you considering destroying it?"

"I can't see any other way of deactivating it, so that is the only option I have remaining"

He pulled out his sword and took a deep breath as his Sword Heart formed around his sword as Sword Qi. He prepared one of the strongest attacks he knew. Spatial aura flooded his sword along with Time aura at the same time, and he swung it at the spire.

Limitless Void Slash

A sword slash capable of blasting through space and time to open a crack to the Void itself struck the white spire. The world seemed to dim a bit as massive spatial cracks formed right where the attack struck the spire, revealing small openings to the Void.

The openings lasted a few seconds each before they closed back up, the space healing itself.

And even then, the White Spire stood unmoved.

Alex was taken aback. "What?"

Scarlet and Pearl watched with their mouths agape. Alex's attack was one that they had never seen. Even Pearl had always hidden inside his Soul Space or been busy elsewhere whenever Alex learned this technique and used it to open a way to the Void back in Hell.

So, he had never truly imagined how strong it truly was. To be able to carve an opening to the Void onto someone else was a degree of strength that Pearl feared he could not replicate even through the Mark of the King.

And yet, even that attack had been rendered useless before the

massive White Spire. Not a scratch lay on its body, not a single hint of

a mark of any sort. It was hard to even see where the attack had

actually landed, as the spire had taken no damage at all.

"That can't be," Alex said again and threw out a few more attacks.

Endless Severing Strike.

True Immolation Strike.

Limitless Void Slash.

Yin Ice Spear.

Golden Spear Punch.

123 Sword Array.

God Rending Death Blade.

And yet, nothing managed to leave a single mark on the spire.

Pearl and Scarlet tried as well, but they too were incapable of doing anything to stop the spire. It was far too strong for them, even with their enhanced Body Cultivation, to damage it.

Since destruction was out of the question, and they had failed to find any other method to deactivate it, the three feared that they had no choice but to head toward the center after all.

Alex looked toward the Black Spire, watching the helpless Wu Tanglan

fail to activate it as well. The monkey returned an angry glare for a second before looking away.
