Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3295 Shame

Chapter 3295 Shame

Alex felt as though his mind was moving through molasses. Each thought came late, each reaction delayed by seconds. He could only helplessly watch as the Sun God improved his spirit by the second, getting closer to forming into a full-on Creation and taking over his body.

As it progressed, Alex felt his mind slipping away, mere moments away from fully vanishing. At that point, the Sun God would take over completely, and everything that was Alex would be gone.

As the darkness came closer, Alex couldn't help but remember the prophecy that had always foretold his death.

You hold the Key to a fallen power. You shall help restore that power, and that shall be your death.

He held the Sun God's body, helping the Sun God restore his power, and that was going to be his death. Despite knowing for so long how he was going to die, Alex couldn't believe that it was really happening. In some ways, he had always believed the prophecies to be false, at least when it came to him.

A part of him still did. Or at least, a part of him still denied what was happening. The prophecy had to be wrong.

'I help restore this power?' Alex thought. 'I'm helping nothing. I don't want to help. I won't help.

He gathered what remained of his mind and came to his senses momentarily. As his mind grew just a hint clearer than the last time, he immediately spoke out loud in a hoarse voice.

"NO!"

The hoarseness in his voice was proof of how much he didn't want it. It was the revocation of all permission the Sun God thought he had received.

Of course, that didn't work. Just as the Sun God had said, his power was now linked to Alex's body, and as such, no matter what Alex said, it would continue to flow into him.

However, that did not mean Alex had nothing he could do.

At the last second, Alex closed his eyes and immediately employed the Five Yang Divine Path technique. Hot Yang Qi flowed out of his Dantian, flowing throughout his body, reaching his mind.

As soon as it did, the quality of his Qi formed a connection between his body and mind. The moment it did, Alex's mind grew abundantly clear.

Alex had reached the state of Nigh-perfect Unity.

"What are you doing?" the Sun God's worried voice came.

"No one is taking over my body," Alex said. "No one is taking over my mind. Not again. Never again. Not even you, Sun God."

His words were laced with venom, each one a spit in the face of the god.

The Sun God was stunned. He hadn't accounted for Alex's unity, especially the fact that it had grown to such a level after he had improved his spirit roots so many times.

"No, you can't do it," the Sun God said. "You must let me assume control of this body. The world has waited far too long for this. The fragments of the old world must be put back together."

Alex hesitated, but he didn't give up control. He remained cultivating. For the moment, he looked at the energy outside his body and saw how much there still was.

There was about half of it remaining, from what he could tell, and unfortunately, it was still flowing toward his body. Alex could see the truth in the Sun God's words that the link had been formed and he couldn't sever it now.

Alex examined his Dantian and found the unique energy collecting in

there without any sign of stopping. Seeing that, Alex almost instantly understood that there was good news and bad news.

The bad news was that even though Alex had gained back his freedom momentarily, it was just that. A momentary freedom. The moment he stopped cultivating, the Sun God would take over his body, and he would truly die.

Alex couldn't allow that to happen.

Fortunately, he could also tell that there was good news.

"What makes you think the old world needs to be put back together, Sun God?" Alex asked. "As far as I can tell, the people have settled into the various realms and are happy."

"No, it must be put back together."

"Okay, if you say so," Alex said. "What if I were to do it then? I could be the one to put the world back together. I won't need you; just your

power."

"No, it must be us. It has to be us," the Sun God said.

"But why?" Alex asked. "If you really cared about the people and the world, then you would be happy knowing there are others trying to make it happen. Why must it be you?"

The Sun God didn't answer, choosing silence at that moment.

For some reason, Alex didn't need an answer. The link the Sun God had talked about had to be the reason for it, as in that moment, he felt partially connected to the Sun God himself.

He couldn't read his thoughts or see his memories, but he could feel what he felt. At least some of it.

And in that moment, there was no emotion stronger in the Sun God's mind than shame and guilt.

When Alex first felt those emotions, he thought the Sun God was

guilty over failing to stop what had happened in the past. But that could not have led to the feeling of overwhelming shame at all.

He could only see one true answer.

"There was no bad guy who did it, was there?" Alex asked. "No cataclysmic event. No world-destroying threat. It was you." The Sun God did not answer once again, but Alex got his answer through the increased shame and guilt in what the god felt at that

moment.

Alex's eyes couldn't grow any wider at that moment.

"You did this," he said, unable to believe it. "You were the ones who destroyed the old world, the ones who broke apart the planet."
