Chapter 3516 Xue Yu'er's Spirit Roots
Chapter 3516 Xue Yu'er's Spirit Roots
"Another tournament?" Alex asked.
The Wine God gave the explanation that Alex so dearly sought.
"Ten thousand years ago, a few of the gods came together to find new talents of the younger generation. Unlike the war, when there was a place for people without much background to show their worth, the peaceful times didn't have any of that. So, the gods established a tournament, not to find who was the strongest, but the one who was the most talented."
"There were several competitions within the tournament, all meant to help find those with great talent, and she came out on top in the end."
Alex blinked for a moment, remembering something. Bladedance had read about it during their visit to the Wine God's library.
"Incredible," he said slowly. "I didn't realize I was standing before someone so great."
Xue Yu'er lowered her eyes, a little embarrassed. She chuckled slightly and said, "It would've sounded natural coming from anyone else. But you've shown your own talents, and it's clear that you surpass even me."
"We don't know that," Alex said. "You're the only one here who's been tested and proven to have the most talent, after all."
"Yes, but it doesn't mean much in the end," Xue Yu'er said. "His Drunkenness must not have made it clear, but the ones with actual talent-meaning those who had already found a great family or sect to join-could not participate in the tournament. In a way, I was the winner among those who were left behind."
Alex nodded slowly, understanding more about the tournament that had taken place. He was quite curious what sort of competitions there had been back then. Could he have participated had it taken place now?
Perhaps with his current status, there would just be no point. Disregarding Bladedance's presence, he was a disciple of the Blue Silk Sect, one of the three great sects of the Myriad Spirit Realm, as well as the disciple of one of the Ten Stars of Alchemy, Silvermist. That had to mean something.
"Don't sell yourself short," the Beast God said. "Every god vied for you back then. You couldn't understand my excitement when you accepted my offer to join my cult."
Xue Yu'er gave a faint smile toward the Beast God.
"There are certainly prodigies among the great families, sects, and cults around the Immortal Realms, but you are still talented despite that," the Wine God said. "There have been many who were born since then, but there still hasn't been anyone with spirit roots as great as yours."
Alex's eyes narrowed. "Spirit roots?" he asked. He wondered if she had a Supreme Root by some chance. The only ones that had it were the Heavenly Beasts, so he was quite eager to learn.
"Uhh..." the Wine God hesitated a little, turning to the woman as if seeking her approval.
Xue Yu'er gave a hint of a shrug. "Everyone already knows, your Drunkenness. There is no point in keeping it from young brother here."
The Wine God nodded and turned toward Alex. "Little Xue here has one of the rarest combinations of spirit roots available to anyone in all the many realms."
Alex grew even more curious. "What sort?"
The Wine God grinned. "She has all 7 elemental spirit roots."
Alex froze. He took in the words for a few long seconds, unable to believe them.
"All 7? All 5 regular elements plus Yin and Yang?" Alex asked.
"Yes," Xue Yu'er answered herself.
The people on the balcony weren't surprised to see Alex's expression of shock in that moment. Anyone who learned this for the first time would certainly be shocked as well.
However, only Alex and Bladedance there knew the reason for their surprise.
Aside from Alex and his mother, there had never been another person
who was born with all 7 elemental spirit roots.
Bladedance, who hadn't spoken until now, finally joined the
conversation.
"How good are your spirit roots?" she asked.
"Decent, senior," Xue Yu'er answered. "My Water and Wood spirit
roots are of the superior grade, followed by Yin, Metal, and Earth. My Yang and Fire roots, however, are average at best."
Bladedance nodded and reclined back in her chair, retreating from the conversation.
Alex wasn't sure if he could believe Xue Yu'er's words or not. After all, she could be lying about how great she was. However, considering the situation, he was more inclined to believe the opposite.
She could be trying to stay humble and underselling the potency of her spirit roots.
'I wonder if our spirit roots are of the same type,' Alex wondered. He had the Five-Elemental Yin-Yang spirit roots, or at least that was the name Senior Yang had assigned to them. He could only wonder if hers were the same.
Sadly, he couldn't come out and tell them about his spirit roots, or else the conversation might have been simpler.
"Honestly, I am more than happy to have met someone who ascended from my world," Xue Yu'er said with a lot of glee in her voice. "If you don't mind, I wish to talk to you again in a less formal setting. I want
to hear all about what has been going on in the lower realm. I want to hear what the sect I left behind is doing, or what that prince has been up to. Long Tiankong, was it? He must be a king by now. Did he
ascend?"
"The Dragon Emperor?" Alex asked in surprise. "He's... dead. Wait, senior... how do you know about him? He should have been born long
after you."
The woman had ascended 25 thousand years ago, and the Dragon Emperor was born some 12 thousand years ago. The timeline didn't
add up.
"I returned to the lower realm once. I received an Interrealm Teleportation talisman as one of my rewards for winning the tournament, so I returned to see how the sect I started had been
faring," she said.
Alex narrowed his eyes. "What sect was this?"
"The Snow Immortal Sect," the woman said. "It's in the Northern
Continent."
