Chapter 3517 The Existing Issue
"The Snow Immortal sect?"
Alex couldn't hide his surprise.
"You know of it?" the woman asked, her smile widening a little.
"I do," Alex said. "I'm sorry to say this, but the Snow Immortal sect is no longer what it used to be. It's a tiny sect now that only continues to exist because of its name in the past. Otherwise, it has no reputation in the Northern Continent."
The woman's face fell.
"What?" she asked. "Why?"
Alex didn't immediately answer and instead thought for a moment longer.
Xue Yu'er. Xue Kuangren. He could see the similarity in their names now. Were they related perhaps?
Alex recalled the time when he was captured by the Mad Immortal, forced to make pills for him. He indeed remembered him talking about the founder of the Snow Immortal sect, and how she had once returned from the Immortal realms.
That was when the man had learned the truth about the stars, which he had then relayed to Alex, helping him understand for the first time that everything that shined in the night sky was another realm out there.
Considering everything, he realized it was probably not a good idea to tell the entire truth, but rather just part of it.
"There was an incident within the sect," Alex explained. "The sect master of the time, Xue Kuangren-I think his name was-attempted to break through to Immortality. However, the tribulation went awry when he was wounded, and he ended up involving the entire sect in it somehow. All elders and ancestors of the sect ended up being struck
down by the heavens and died. The other branches took away what they could loot, forming their own sects, leaving behind nothing for the Snow Immortal sect."
"Over the past few millennia, the sect fell from their status, becoming nothing more than a husk of their former self."
Xue Yu'er's face had fallen as she heard Alex's words. She could have never imagined such a misfortune befalling the sect she had created and left behind.
"Everything was alright when I returned," she said in a small voice. "Little Kuangren was quite excited to follow in my footsteps." Her eyes narrowed slightly. "It's quite strange that he ended up losing his life to the tribulation. That kind-hearted fool must not have used the talismans I left behind for him. He could have saved himself from the tribulation had he used them."
Alex said nothing. There was no way he could tell her that he had used her artifact and saved himself, only to later lose his life because of Alex.
"I didn't expect to learn this today, but thank you for telling me anyway. I would love to learn more about it all from you later," Xue Yu'er said. "For now, I must excuse myself. I would like some time alone."
The gods didn't stop her. Considering the news she had heard, she was free to do anything she wished.
After she left, the Beast God shook her head slightly. "It's not easy to learn of such unfortunate news," she said.
"She'll come to terms with it," the Wine God said. "It seems like it happened a while ago anyway, and she's moved on from that part of her life long ago."
Alex sat back down in his seat, taking in everything. One thing he still hadn't been able to get out of his mind was the fact that she had all 7 spirit roots.
He hadn't found anyone else other than him and his mother who had them, so he was quite curious as to how difficult it was to be born with them.
"Are the recordings of the tournament available by any chance?" he asked the gods.
"There are some in my library," the Wine God said. "Wineshard will prepare them for you once we return. Although, you might have to deal with the existing issue first. Will you do it?"
"The psuedo-Voidgate?" Alex asked. "I think I will see to it immediately. Can anyone tell me where it is?"
Wineshard stood from his seat. "Come, young brother. I'll show you the way!"
Alex left the group and made his way out of the building, before flying away with Wineshard toward the west. Wineshard gave a brief explanation of the situation and told him exactly what Pearl had explained to him.
"It does make sense to close it from the inside," Alex said. "There were definitely more than 10 cracks on the inside as far as I remember. Unless they've somehow closed off on their own, there should still be
more than a few open."
Wineshard nodded.
They arrived at the ocean where the crack lay and dove deep into the water to find it. A group of sea beasts had the place surrounded already, and when Wineshard arrived, he had to explain their purpose before he was provided access to the crack.
Alex looked at the several sea beasts as he passed by them, amazed by their strength. Each one was high in the Divine realm cultivation base. "The ocean might as well be a different realm entirely, Alex thought. "Here," Wineshard showed Alex to the place where the crack lay. As Alex arrived, he could see the purple and silver spilling out of the
cracks, filling the world outside. It was only through his Demon Eyes that he could see those colors, but it truly made the surroundings feel
quite strange.
As he got closer, Alex paused for a moment as he sensed something. He raised his hand around the place, moving it slowly.
"What's wrong?" Wineshard asked, confused by Alex's actions.
"It's weakened for some reason," Alex said as he continued to move his
hands around.
"Weakened? What is weakened? The crack?" he asked.
"No, the space around the crack," Alex said. "It's so much weaker than
it is in the surrounding region."
Wineshard narrowed his eyes. "Is that why the crack persists?" he
asked.
"Maybe," Alex said. "Or maybe... the crack is the reason why it's
weakened."
