Chapter 3526 Spirit Root Setups
Chapter 3526 Spirit Root Setups
Alex talked to Xue Yu'er for a while longer, making idle conversation at this point, as there was not much else to talk about. As he talked, he quickly became aware of Xue Yu'er's dislike of most men and how she would rather stay away from them.
It seemed partially fueled by conflict with the one elder, but also by many other male individuals she had interacted with throughout her life.
It became clear to him now why she would even consider if he was trying to blackmail her into becoming his Dao companion. Looking back, it wasn't that strange for her to ask that.
At the same time, he also noted something else that even she hadn't wanted to tell him about.
Of the several gods that had come together to set the tournament in the Silver Soul realm, the Beast God was the only female god of the group. Everyone else was a male god. Alex couldn't help but wonder now if that was the reason why she hadn't joined any of their cults.
After some time, the Beast God walked up to them and joined in on their conversation. Alex spoke to the two for a bit before finally deciding to end it there.
He excused himself and found his way to the guest rooms where he would be staying for some time. He was quite excited to learn about the auxiliary information that came with the original one.
Alex understood the interaction between elements by themselves, but when it came to spirit roots, they acted slightly differently, and that was what he wanted to learn about.
As he studied the talisman, his eyes widened slightly in surprise.
"I see..." he said with a smile. What he learned wasn't so significant that it shifted his paradigm on the understanding of spirit roots and their interaction. In fact, he had guessed a lot of how it worked
already. He merely had no confirmation on the matter before.
With the knowledge before him, most of what he understood was still there, with a few additional tidbits that were quite necessary.
Alex had a guess that the spirit roots didn't interact like the regular five elements did, but rather like the seven elements did. The presence of Yin and Yang altered the way each of the elements functioned quite slightly.
In Pearl's case, if he had only had a Metal root to begin with and had later acquired a Wood root, it was likely that they would clash against each other, making the Wood root slightly better in the outcome.
However, since he also had a Yang root, things were different. Yang heavily empowered Fire and partially empowered Metal. While not at the Supreme rank, his Yang root elevated the strength of his Metal root, making it slightly better than the Wood root in the end.
That was why, despite two clashing Supreme roots, Pearl's cultivation speed hadn't lowered as much as it should have. At the same time, it was also lucky that Pearl didn't have an Earth or Water root. If he did, the Yang root might have been spread a little thin, making things weaker.
"So, what are the solutions?" Alex thought.
From what he could understand, based on his own knowledge as well as what the book said, there were two possible solutions to Pearl's issue that didn't involve weakening or removing his roots.
The first solution was to improve his Yang root. Alex could likely come up with a Yang Spirit Root Empowering Pill in the Immortal rank that would help him improve it a bit.
Although, it might be better for him to use some large-scale formations to help him with it, like Silvermist had helped Alex when improving his Wood root.
The second solution was to add a weak Earth root. The presence of a strong Earth root was what would cause the other problem. However,
a weaker one would be weak enough that his Yang root wouldn't be spread thin.
The Wood root would also have to fight back somewhat, splitting its potency in two directions.
At the same time, the Earth root would also empower the Metal root, making it overall stronger and thus helping improve Pearl's cultivation speed.
If Alex had to choose, this would be the option he would choose. Without the presence of a Water root, an Earth root would have a very low chance of being rejected as well, so the grafting process would also have a high chance of success.
There was also a third possible solution, which was to change the roots into something else entirely, interfering with the elemental interaction.
While Metal didn't have a common sub-element, Yang and Wood did. There were Life and Light elements for Yang, and there were Lightning, Wind, and Sound elements for Wood.
As roots, they would be hard to come by, but if Alex could somehow replace Pearl's Wood root with those, then it would work.
Sadly, this just wasn't happening.
He couldn't interfere with Pearl's Yang root, since it was what was breaking the clash in Metal root's favor for Pearl.
And he couldn't replace the Wood root, since that was tied to his bloodline as an Azure Dragon.
So, he could only rely on one of the other two solutions.
"I'll have to try the first one before the second," he told himself. "It's
better if I don't give Pearl any other spirit roots if I can help it. Until I complete my thorough experiments on them, it's better to not give anyone anything else."
He also thought about Scarlet and Whisker next.
Scarlet had a perfectly fine spirit root setup with Yang and Fire roots. Whisker, however, had a slightly troubling set of spirit roots.
He had Water, Earth, and Fire roots, along with a Yin root. Fire empowered Earth. Yin also partially empowered Earth. Yin fully empowered Water. Water and Earth clashed with each other. Fire clashed with the weakened Water.
Everything was dulled in the end, making it all worse.
That was most likely why Whisker's cultivation speed was so slow. Alex sighed. "Alright, what's the solution to this one?"
