Chapter 3538 Where the Gods Tread
Chapter 3538 Where the Gods Tread
The reunion lasted a few minutes longer, their emotions laid bare, even though they were technically in a public area with people watching them. It wasn't easy to hold themselves back since it had been so long since they had last seen each other.
Helen appeared the happiest of all, while also crying the most. She constantly hugged every single one of them, overjoyed to see them. again.
Long Huan joined the group at some point, greeting them all as well. He held the least emotion out of the entire group, but that wasn't to say that he felt any less a member of the family.
Bladedance and Battlesage watched from the side, each of them holding a hint of a smile as they watched Alex and his family embrace each other. Although, Bladedance could hardly look toward them, as her eyes constantly moved away from them and toward another person nearby.
Alex looked toward his mother.
"What are you all doing here?" he asked, his feeling of jubilation beginning to fade away slowly, although the smile still remained. "You weren't just randomly gathered out here, were you?"
"No," Helen answered. "We were waiting for you."
"Waiting for us?" Alex asked with a somewhat surprised expression on his face. "Were you notified of our arrival?"
Alex wondered if the man they had just met before had somehow quickly notified them of his arrival to this realm. However, that felt wrong since there was such a small window of time between when he had arrived in this world and when he had teleported here.
The period was far too brief for his family to have all been notified and gathered here. Something was off.
"We just knew you were coming today, father," Ronron answered. "We had been waiting for you."
"You knew I was coming today?" Alex couldn't believe their words at all. He couldn't imagine who could have given them that information. "How is that possible?"
Before anyone else could answer him, Bladedance moved next to him. "There," she said, diverting Alex's attention elsewhere.
Alex looked away from his group and toward the stairs where they had been standing beforehand. Just a few steps above them stood a man in a single black robe with short black hair. He appeared youthful at first glance, but upon further inspection, his age showed.
"Who is that?" Alex asked, trying to figure out who the man was. He didn't think he had met him before.
"You know who he is," Bladedance said. "Your family knew you would come here exactly today. There is only one reason they would know." Alex's eyes slowly widened in shock as a single possibility rose in his mind. Before he could even voice his thoughts, Bladedance stepped forward and gave a small bow.
"It is a pleasure to see you again, senior."
Alex had never in his life seen Bladedance bow to anyone else,
especially not to affirm their seniority over her. However, today, she did just that.
"Lady Bladedance is kind," the man spoke.
Alex blinked in surprise. "That voice...'
The possibility became more concrete now.
He stepped forward slightly, asking his question in a strange tone.
"Are you... the Divination God?"
The man turned toward Alex and gave a firm nod.
Alex's eyes went wide in surprise. This man had been indirectly involved in his past and future for such a long time that he couldn't help but be shocked at finally meeting him after all this time.
"Are you surprised to see me here?" the man asked.
Alex nodded slowly.
"Even though I told you we would meet here?"
Alex paused. "When did you-"
He froze. The words from back then came rushing back at once. He had even talked about this with the Wine God and his master, so he should have been expecting this already.
"The ivory steps where the gods tread," Alex said, barely above a whisper. "This is what you meant all those years ago."
The man had already divined that they would meet here after nearly two thousand years. What else did he know? Alex wanted to find out more. He bowed toward the Divination God.
"It is an honor to meet you, Divination God."
The Divination God said nothing for a moment. "You did already meet me back then too. We had a small conversation. Although, from your perspective, you never saw me. But for me, it is as if I have known you for a long time."
Alex supposed he understood what the man was trying to say.
"As for how you should refer to me, just call me senior. I would prefer that over my title," the man said.
Alex remembered something about the Divination God disliking his title and quickly nodded.
Bladedance was about to say something, but the Divination God
stopped her. "It would be easy for me to keep you here and let you all talk, but I believe there is someone else waiting for your presence. So if you waste any more time, she might not be as happy."
Bladedance quickly nodded. "We shall do as you say, senior."
The Divination God turned and began walking without saying another
word.
Liz walked up to Alex, glancing toward Bladedance. She nudged Alex slightly, gesturing toward her without making it obvious.
Alex saw that and quickly turned around. "Everyone, this is my master, Bladedance. She is my sword teacher," he said. "And that over there is senior Battlesage. He is not my master, but he has taught me many different things, so he might as well be. Please treat them both with the utmost respect."
"Oh?"
"Master?"
The group seemed rather curious to learn that. They hadn't exactly
ever known Alex to have a proper teacher, so him finding one was certainly a change from the past. They were eager to learn more
about her.
However, a different matter took precedence for now.
Ronron quickly walked to the front. "My master should be waiting for you all. Please let me escort you to her."
