Chapter 3537 Tears and Smiles
Chapter 3537 Tears and Smiles
Alex could hardly believe his eyes when he saw the stairs that led to the formation. Standing upon them were none other than his people.
Helen, Alex's mother, had her hands around her face, her emotions overwhelming her.
Graham, Alex's father, held a gentle look on his face, although it quickly began changing as if something else had been entirely outside of his expectations.
Liz, Alex's aunt, held a more cheerful attitude than the rest, although her moist eyes betrayed her emotions quite easily.
Hannah, Alex's cousin, stood with her arms crossed before her. She wasn't as emotional as the others, as though she had fully expected this to happen. Still, her stoic attitude was entirely ruined by the tears that began forming in her eyes.
Long Huan, Alex's brother-in-law, was perhaps the only one that wasn't as emotional at all. He simply smiled, watching the group that had arrived.
As a complete opposite to him, however, Ronron was an utter mess the very moment she saw the people appear. Before Alex and the rest even had a chance to properly turn and look at her, her tears were already welling up, her emotions running rampant.
She ran from where she stood, rushing toward the group.
"Mommy. Daddy!"
Ronron had long since given up any hope of seeing her parents again. It had been 2 thousand years since she came to the Immortal world, so she was more or less certain they may have already died.
That was the mental world she lived in for a long time, having completely given up on the fact that she could ever meet her parents again.
And yet, at this moment, the two stood right there before her. Her parents, the ones that raised her, stood before her alive and healthy.
Ronron's happiness had never been higher, and as a result, she could only cry.
"Ronron!"
The older Alex and Emily cried out, with Emily opening her arms to take her daughter into her embrace. Ronron came flying in, only to stop at the last moment so she didn't hurt her parents. Then, she jumped into her embrace, hiding her face in her chest.
Helen stepped forward next, opening her arms wide for her children.
Alex slowly stepped forward, his face still in utter shock. Even until a second before, his mind had been wracked with the fear that everything he had learned until then might have been wrong. He feared his family wasn't here.
Or maybe, even if they were here, they were busy somewhere else where he couldn't meet them for another few years. That way, he couldn't truly meet them all right away.
However, all of his fears were shattered the very next second as he saw not just a few of his family members, but rather his entire family waiting for him at the white stairs next to the teleportation formation.
Helen approached him slowly at first, before breaking into a full sprint and hugging him tightly.
"Al, my Al. You're here. You're really here."
Alex could hear the sounds of his mother sobbing, and only then did the realization hit him that it was all true. Everything was real. It was all really happening.
Alex reflexively hugged his mother as well, a tearful smile forming on his face. "I took the long way around, but I have found you all." The rest rushed in afterward.
Alex turned to the next person who came to him and took her into his embrace.
Liz began bawling. "I'm so happy you're finally here. We heard so many bad things about you and were so worried, but you somehow made it here fine."
Alex smiled as he hugged her. "You should know by now that nothing can stop me."
"Mother!" Whisker said in an excited voice as he jumped at Helen.
Helen turned toward the small mouse. "Whisker? Oh, you've grown so
much."
Graham walked up to the older Alex and Emily, whom Ronron refused to stop hugging. "I didn't expect the two of you to be here. But I can't
say that I have ever felt happier seeing anyone else."
The older Alex smiled. "I share the same sentiment, father."
Helen turned to them as well, hugging them.
Hannah walked up to Alex as she wiped some tears from her face.
"Took you long enough. Any longer and I might have had to start
searching for you."
Alex sensed her cultivation base, which was high in the Divine Creation realm, and let out a slight chuckle. "I don't think I would
have minded that, sister."
Hannah's smile grew gentler. "Come here." She took him into a big embrace as well.
Graham walked over to Alex next and gave him a hug without any words. Alex returned the hug just the same. Although, he could hear his father sniffling a little, so the emotions were reaching him as well.
"Are you Pearl?" Liz asked, looking at him standing to the side. He was in his human form, so it wasn't as easy to recognize him. Pearl smiled slightly. "I was worried you might have forgotten me," he
said jokingly.
"Woah! You're a human now."
"Uncle Pearl?" Ronron looked toward him, her eyes widening. "Is that
really you?"
Aside from her parents, Pearl was the only other family member she had spent the most time with as a child. As such, he held a much higher importance in her heart than someone like Whisker or Scarlet. "Wait, so you're Her Majesty, aren't you?" Liz asked, looking at Scarlet. "I nearly forgot what you looked like."
"Please don't call me that," Scarlet said. "I am not royalty anymore. And more than that, I am no different from Pearl or Whisker, so please
consider me family too."
Liz smiled. "In that case, give us a hug."
Scarlet smiled and happily complied.
"Uncle Pearl," Ronron hugged Pearl before turning toward Whisker.
"And Uncle Whisker too."
"How have you been, Ronron?" Pearl asked with a gentle smile.
"Woah, Ronron. You're stronger than us now," Whisker said in a
surprised voice.
Ronron smiled. "I've been cultivating diligently."
She let go of the two and grinned, her green and silver eyes glinting with happiness. Then, she turned toward Alex.
"Father," she spoke in a meek voice. She was somehow both excited to
see him again, and yet nervous at the same time. She had waited to
hear about him for so long, and now that he was here, she didn't know what to say.
As the parent, Alex was the first to speak.
"I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise," he said. "I said I would come meet you all as soon as I ascended, but... I was sidetracked a few too
many times. Can you forgive me?"
Ronron's eyes widened in panic. "No. There's nothing to forgive, father. You didn't intentionally delay or anything. And more than that, you brought them with you. I could never be angry with you for that."
"Is that so?" Alex asked with a smile.
Ronron nodded, quickly wrapping her arms around him tightly. "I'm beyond happy to see you, father."
Alex couldn't help but feel a tinge of pride in all of his feelings of
happiness.
He couldn't think of a time when he was happier than today. Nor
could he imagine a future when he would be happier. His two-millennia long search had finally come to an end.
Alex had finally been reunited with all of his family.
