Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 307: Divine Projection

Chapter 307: Divine Projection

Though the man showed signs of communicating and no other abnormalities, Liora had never let her guard down.

Thus, facing his sneak attack, she reacted immediately.

Attacked from both the left and the right side, she didn’t choose to evade, nor defend.

Instead, her right hand blurred, and she unsheathed her saber before several crimson lights flickered.

The two serpents’ forward momentum suddenly halted.

The next moment, a thunderous bang echoed, and they exploded like fireworks, soon dispersing into nothingness.

But Liora did not have the time to celebrate. The moment the two serpents vanished, another, equally terrifying attack came.

The man flashed beside her and punched her on the abdomen, as his right hand transformed into a black snake, with two green eyes blinking continuously.

As she stared into their indifferent pupils, Liora felt herself go dizzy.

However, a loud clang suddenly echoed inside her mind and jolted her awake.

An illusory crimson saber appeared beside her soul, and waving on its own, tore the snake’s influence apart.

The man failed to realize this. His fist continued unabated, and the serpent opened its mouth, ready to swallow Liora’s existence whole.

Liora would not miss such an opportunity.

The saber in her hand slashed forward, and a trickle of blood followed as the opponent’s hand was cleanly separated.

Next, Liora aimed at the opponent’s neck.

Caught in surprise and immersed in the pain of having his hand cut off, the protector had no time to react.

The edge of the blade sliced through his neck with ease, causing his head to shoot up and for blood to splatter.

However, this surprisingly did not spell the end of the fight. Though his head had fallen to the ground, his body did not collapse.

Instead, it took a few steps back, opening some distance with Liora.

A golden light emerged across his neck, and the flesh began to granulate.

Before Liora could stop him, the man had completely recovered.

A new head had grown onto his neck, looking exactly the same as the one lying on the ground not far away.

Liora was stunned.

Not because the man could recover from such injuries, but because of the method he used.

Although it was somewhat different, she noticed that the power that healed him closely resembled the Indestructible Matter that only Greater Devils possessed.

This made her curious, but most importantly, excited. She felt that this world had much more to offer than she originally predicted.

Liora was full of thoughts, and the middle-aged man was also the same.

"Aren’t you a Warrior?! How can you hurt me?", he questioned in a deep voice, recalling the earlier scene of his "death".

Despite not being one, the man was more familiar with Warriors than Liora could ever be. Thus, he was full of doubts. Even a Grandmaster should not be this strong!

Unfortunately for him, Liora did not reply.

With a step forward, the space itself folded and wrapped around her figure, before expelling her behind the man.

Then, the saber was swung once again.

Within a moment, hundreds of clean cuts had formed on the man’s body.

His entire back was easily torn apart, revealing the bronze bones and squirming internal organs inside.

But, with another flash of the golden light, his injuries recovered. This time, Liora was paying more attention to this process.

Therefore, she instantly realized something.

"It’s quite similar to Indestructible Matter, but it’s also somewhat different."

"Moreover... it seems that it does not belong to you. It operates on its own whenever you’re injured."

"Unlike Greater Devils, who can produce Indestructible Matter on their own, yours is more like a consumable...", Liora muttered in a low voice, as her figure flashed all over the place.

The saber cut the man again and again, while he could only watch Liora roam around, unable to strike back.

Like a cat playing with its prey, Liora’s actions were casual yet brutal.

She continuously destroyed the man’s body, but would never go too far, instead giving him the time to recover.

With her strength and combat experience, the man could not stop her.

--

In the distance, the group of young people had finally dealt with the Evil Spirit.

However, when they saw their own protector suppressed and beaten, they could not help but worry.

Everyone turned to the young man in the middle, who held the highest status among them and was also the strongest.

"Elder Brother, should we escape?", a cheerful young woman beside him asked.

But in response, the young man shook his head.

"No. Judging from the opponent’s strength, we can never outrun her."

"Once she deals with Uncle, she will soon catch up with us and kill us one by one."

Saying this, the man took a deep breath and made a decision.

"My father gave me a Divine Projection before we left."

"If we can gather some energy and activate it, we should be able to deal with that woman.", he said, and his eyes darted toward the village.

"Brother, this is the territory of one of our affiliated sects. If we..."

The man in the lead did not give the person interrupting him the time to complete their words.

"These guys should be happy to have been of use to us. How dare they say anything just because of the lives of a few mortals?"

"Let alone the village. Even if the entire sect is gone, they should grovel for our mercy."

Saying this, the "Elder Brother" did not speak any further. His figure blurred, and he appeared above the village’s square before he punched down.

Instantly, the gathered people exploded.

Their blood writhed and gathered towards the young man, entering his body and flowing towards his head.

Soon, the other young people woke up and followed his instructions. They began slaughtering everyone in the village, without so much as showing a hint of emotion.

Even the cheerful young woman, who looked innocent and naive, entered the houses and killed several unsuspecting families, as if they were not people, but animals in her eyes.

--

The actions of the young people did not escape Liora and the protector’s eyes.

Seeing them cruelly slaughter the villagers with an indifferent expression, the two had a different reaction.

Liora sent the man flying and rushed forward, seemingly wanting to stop them, while the middle-aged man laughed loudly.

"Hahaha! Where are you going?!", he spoke and threw himself at Liora, preventing her from going to rescue the villagers.

"Do you see? This is the fate of mortals!"

"In the eyes of the Clans, you’re nothing but a bunch of ants, pigs waiting to be slaughtered.", he taunted, hoping to make her lose her composure.

It was apparent that the term "mortal" encompassed Liora in his eyes, too, even though she was significantly stronger than he was.

The man’s words appeared to have worked, succeeding in stimulating Liora.

She swung the saber frantically and attempted to throw him off, as if she could not bear to watch the villagers die in front of her.

Unfortunately, the man did not let her do as she wished.

He remained entangled with her, ignoring the pain even when his head was smashed, and his heart was pierced.

In fact, if this went on for a few more minutes, the man knew that his Divine Aura would be consumed and he would die.

Thankfully, things did not reach that. Less than a minute later, a powerful aura emerged from the now-silent village.

"Haha! It’s too late! It’s too late!", Liora heard the man in front of her shout as she watched a word appear above the village.

Its letters were dripping with fresh blood, while the souls of villagers surrounded it and wailed, begging for mercy or cursing loudly at the perpetrators.

Though the word was in a language that Liora had never encountered before, she instantly understood its meaning.

"Death", it read, and the moment it appeared, the word teleported above Liora.

The crimson color of the letters grew deeper, and the stench of blood permeated the air, as a higher-level power began to oppress her.
