Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 383: Zerg

Chapter 383: Zerg

Liora focused on memorizing and comprehending the runes, wanting to improve her understanding of formations through them.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have the time to have any major breakthrough.

Before long, the power guiding her and Alpha through the Origin Sea ceased to exist, and they were thrown off.

When Liora opened her eyes, she discovered that her body had taken form again.

Similarly, Alpha stood right next to her, no longer invisible in her eyes.

Though Alpha’s aura was fluctuating faintly, perhaps because of the high speed, she hadn’t suffered any injuries.

Liora and Alpha were not the only people.

Besides them, the three Greater Devils accompanying them, including Assira, were there, as well as an extra person.

Most importantly, a large world could be seen in the distance.

Judging by how vast the world was and its bright, flickering light, it had reached the medium level.

Obviously, Liora and her companions had reached their destination.

"You’re here.", the extra person, a rough middle-aged Devil, spoke up as his gaze sized them up.

Liora’s group also did the same.

After an awkward silence of a few seconds, the middle-aged man retracted his gaze.

"I believe that you already know the goal of the Universe Chamber of Commerce."

"I’m the Commander of the Universe Chamber of Commerce. While here, I hope you follow my command and kill the Zerg Servants with us."

The man’s words were quite straightforward, but Liora was not surprised.

She could sense an intense fighting spirit emanating from this person, one that she had only seen in battle-ridden soldiers in the past.

This fighting spirit had nothing to do with strength but was something one would obtain after participating in countless wars and battles.

Just as he stated, this man was an army Commander and, judging by his aura and True Spirit Gate, was quite extraordinary.

Since Liora could see this, the other Greater Devils were not ignorant. Thus, they weren’t offended by his attitude and instead brushed it off.

After nodding in agreement, they exchanged a couple more words before the Commander gestured for them to follow him.

Their group approached the world as its membrane gradually grew closer.

Soon, Liora saw their destination.

A huge war fortress attached to the world’s membrane, containing thousands of True Devil soldiers and dozens of Greater Devils.

Seemingly sensing her gaze, the Commander explained.

"The Chamber of Commerce took control over this world long ago. Therefore, many of our people have already arrived."

"Unfortunately, the recent arrival of the Zerg threw us off."

"Unwilling to fight within the medium-level world, our forces moved here and established this fortress as the spearhead for the battlefield."

As he spoke, the commander led them to the edge of the fortress, where a high wall was built facing the world.

As Liora and her group landed on top of it, she couldn’t help but lower her head and look at the area below.

Corpses riddled the dark void, like an ancient battlefield that had been left unattended.

Many of the corpses belonged to Devils, but most of them did not.

These corpses possessed insect-like characteristics, including a tough carapace, long antennae, and scaly limbs.

Liora did not need an introduction.

She understood that these corpses were all of Zerg. Or to be more accurate, of Zerg Servants.

Although they were all part of the same race, the Zerg were divided into two unique species.

The Zerg Queens were the "mothers" of the nest and the creators of all other Zerg, while Zerg Servants were akin to their slaves, like the bees were to the bee queen.

"Judging from the traces left behind, the war has been going on for quite a while. At least a few decades."

"Is this what Greater Devils call ’recent’ arrival? Sure enough, everything, including time, depends on one’s perspective.", Liora couldn’t help but mutter inwardly.

She didn’t need to ask where these Zerg came from.

Raising her head, she looked at the world not far away.

There, a large gap existed in its membrane, leading straight into the material world.

Liora could sense a familiar aura within it, the aura of Zerg.

"It seems that the Zerg have already occupied the medium-level world. No wonder the Universe Chamber of Commerce felt the need to request help."

"Once a Zerg Queen occupies a world, she can continuously devour the World Origin, giving birth to Zerg Servants and improving her strength."

"Although the Chamber of Commerce might have the advantage at the moment, the Zerg Queen will emerge victorious if given enough time."

Liora nodded her head, feeling that this made sense.

Everyone arrived at a similar conclusion, and thus, the commander did not need to explain it.

After allowing them to observe the aura for a while, he soared into the air once again and motioned them to follow him.

This time, he didn’t lead them anywhere in the Origin Sea.

Instead, he rushed straight into the medium-level world and dove into it through the gap. Liora and the others exchanged a glance, and with little hesitation, they followed him in.

Only a few hours later, Liora stood alone in an empty plain within the medium-level world.

After she and the other Greater Devils entered the world, they didn’t stay together.

Following the commander’s instructions, they quickly dispersed and spread throughout the world, each in a different area.

Their current locations were not random.

Under the instructions of the Commander, they were each responsible for a section of this world.

As Liora stared at the scene in front of her and sensed the powerful aura at the center of the world, she understood the reason.

"It seems that the Zerg Queen has already devoured a large amount of World Origin and given birth to countless Zerg Servants.", she shook her head, glancing at the plain around her with disgust.

The plain was filled with insectoids, digging into the earth and devouring its essence. In Liora’s opinion, this place might not have been as deserted in the past.

It was only following the arrival of the Zerg and their endless devouring that this place came to be.

Since a pale domain covered her and she consciously concealed her presence, none of the Zerg Servants discovered her.

Therefore, Liora had the time to observe them.

These creatures were not very powerful on their own, only equivalent to an ordinary peak Lesser Devil.

However, their number was truly massive. There were tens of thousands of them just in the area she could see with her naked eye.

"No wonder the Universe Chamber of Commerce urged us to separate and clean up these servants before dealing with the Zerg Queen.", Liora thought with a frown.

She was planning to investigate further, but just then, a message appeared in her mind.

Instantly, eleven other auras rose throughout the world, and the Greater Devils began to fight.

Some of them belonged to Liora’s companions, and she could recognize them, while others came from unknown Devils.

"It seems that the time has come.", Liora muttered, and after taking a final look at the Zerg Servants surrounding her, she calmly raised her hand.
