Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 412: Clash

Chapter 412: Clash

The person to step out of the inheritance palace was not Liora, unlike what one would expect.

Rather, it was Assira, who had previously been struggling to complete the third trial and was stuck in the form of a small fish.

Clearly, although her inner fears were quite surprising and went against her identity as a Devil, her nature was also extraordinary.

In the end, she succeeded in facing her fears, passing the third trial, and obtaining the rewards of the inheritance.

Then, she was promptly ejected from the palace.

The entrance didn’t close.

Less than a moment after Assira walked out, another woman followed.

Unlike Assira, who was calm and composed, a trace of surprise flashed across Alpha’s face upon appearing outside.

She seemed not to have expected to be moved out.

However, the next moment, her ears twitched lightly and the surprise in her gaze faded away.

No one paid much attention to these two women, much less notice Alpha’s change of expression.

The eyes of everyone, including the Commander, stayed on the golden lights revolving around the two women, which seemed to be tempting them to try and plunder them.

One had to know that several people had entered the inheritance among the Commander’s subordinates, and even more people before this group even arrived.

Yet, beside him, no one had obtained a single golden reward.

The highest rewards these people had gotten were bronze and silver, representing the ratings C and B, respectively.

The Commander was the only one to have obtained a golden reward. As such, he understood their value the best.

The moment he saw the two women walk out, he didn’t hesitate to take action.

His hands moved at a strange frequency, his fingers dancing through the air. Lines of golden light were woven eerily, outlining a peculiar symbol right before him.

His movements were extremely fast.

Within a mere moment, the symbol had fully taken shape and form.

Then, ignoring the astonished gazes of everyone around him, the Commander threw it above his head.

The clearing outside the inheritance palace was quickly plunged into the symbol’s golden light.

Everyone, including Assira and Alpha, was left stunned, unable to react.

Similar-looking symbols emerged from beneath their skin and resonated with the one hovering above them, as if it were a Queen Bee resonating with its subjects.

Their expressions changed.

They tried to struggle.

Yet, before long, they discovered that they had fully lost control over their bodies. Only their consciousness remained, trapped in a shell they could no longer control.

The same was not only true for the two women, but also for the Commander’s own subordinates.

Along this clearing, the only person who had remained intact was none other than the Commander himself.

The man stared silently as several threads extended from the symbol and drilled into everyone’s bodies.

As he sensed the growing connection between these individuals and him, a faint smile couldn’t help but creep up his stern face.

Although things had not gone exactly as expected, the current outcome was still acceptable for the Universe Chamber of Commerce.

Not only would the organization obtain two True Spirit Greater Devils with great potential, but also the golden rewards that these women had managed to obtain.

The Commander was not proud. He understood the reason.

This did not happen because he was stronger or smarter than his opponents, but because of the organization’s sufficient preparations.

"Obtaining control over the inheritance palace has already given us the absolute advantage."

"Unless someone were to pass all three trials and obtain a higher rating, they will always be at my mercy."

"Otherwise, how would I dare let these people in?"

Saying this, the Commander was secretly doubtful.

How these two women obtained so many rewards was a mystery to him.

One had to know that he had only gotten a golden reward after completing the final trial.

Could it be that these women were truly extraordinary and achieved this in the first two trials?

As for them completing the third trial?

This was obviously impossible. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been easily controlled by this symbol.

Thinking of this, the Commander grew even more excited. "Winning over" two such Devils would greatly please the organization’s higher-ups.

Coupled with the treasures he had managed to bring out, there was a high chance that he would be rewarded handsomely.

Obtaining the opportunity to become an Archdevil was not necessarily a mere dream.

The Commander daydreamed for a moment, but he was obviously not stupid to have been trusted with such a mission.

Therefore, he quickly recovered and did not get lost in the temporary victory.

He continued manipulating the symbol above his head, which in turn, allowed him to control the people around him.

Just when he thought that everything was done and over, though, his expression suddenly changed.

The inheritance palace in the distance shook, and the entrance opened wide.

Another woman walked out from within, one whom the Commander instantly recognized.

"It’s you!", the man couldn’t help but exclaim, his eyes reflecting the outline of the Zerg Queen.

The dark-haired woman did not respond to his call.

Without any emotion on her face, she moved her hands, just as the Commander had done before, and outlined a peculiar symbol, which soon shot above her head.

The two symbols quickly clashed.

A powerful aura emanated from both of them, as tentacles grew out and wrestled over the control of the surrounding Greater Devils.

"It’s true! You’ve really passed through the three trials!", the Commander stated, as he tried his best to compete against her.

Neither of the two parties moved.

They both manipulated the authority given to them by the inheritance palace, allowing them to control the other challengers.

This was no longer a fight between Devils and Zerg, but a battle to decide who would have the final say over the inheritance palace.

Or at least, this was what the Commander and the Zerg Queen were led to believe.

Yet, unbeknownst to them, a pair of crimson eyes suddenly opened within an otherwise dark void.

An indifferent gaze pierced through the palace and looked outside, landing on the fighting man and woman.

Liora’s eyes shone.

A trace of aloofness flashed in her pupils, before her mind connected with the palace around her.

She instantly felt an extreme closeness, as if the two were part of the other, knowing that she had finally succeeded.

"It’s time...", she muttered subconsciously before her hand clasped the now-fully crimson sphere and communicated with it.
