Chapter 428: Combination
Chapter 428: Combination
A claw materialized as Liora thrust her right hand forward.
It rapidly grew bigger.
In the blink of an eye, it had transformed into a four-fingered claw half the size of the world floating not far away.
Each of these fingers had a different color and exuded a different, distinct aura.
The one on the far left was pitch-black and caused the surrounding space to crack.
It was followed by a gray and a blurry finger, emanating the power to drive everything to extinction and the will to devour everything, respectively.
As for the last finger? It was bloody red, seemingly dripping with blood.
Its aura was evil and full of sin. If one were to take a look at it, they would have the illusion of facing the entire Demon World.
All the aforementioned effects blended together perfectly.
They didn’t clash, but became pieces of a greater puzzle, not lessening but rather increasing the claw’s power.
Under Liora’s control, the four-fingered claw moved and struck at the barracks situated at the edge of the world.
The True Devils and the few Greater Devils performing their duties had no time to react.
The magnificent claw swiftly landed on the barracks and obliterated every life in it, while its sharp nails shredded through the walls and buildings as if they were made of paper.
Even the world beside them was impacted.
The membrane protecting it was penetrated by the aftermath, and it began to tremble, as if a cataclysmic event was taking place.
Such a phenomenon would have slain the majority of its inhabitants if it were still alive.
Fortunately, the Zerg Queen had already taken care of the matter and killed everyone long ago.
The entire world was now empty, as even the Zerg Servant corpses had been unknowingly moved away by Liora.
It took a little while for the aftermath of the blow to recede.
When the dust settled, the world returned to normal and its membrane healed, while the Origin Sea outside was left with scraps of precious materials and the severed corpses of world-destroying Devils.
Liora did not take the initiative to collect them. Such things were no longer useful to her.
Instead, she closed her eyes for a few moments, and the scene of the previous attack replayed in her mind.
When she opened them again, a faint glint flashed across her pupils.
She couldn’t help but let out a sigh.
"Archdevils are terrifying, especially Archdevils who have integrated several concepts into their Throne and can thus control them."
"The attacking power of the previous blow was nothing. With my strength, I could do this just based on my physical body."
"However, the previous seamless integration of different powers is something I was unable to do as a Greater Devil."
"Destruction, Nothingness, Devouring, and demonic energy. All the above were perfectly integrated, working to raise each other’s power."
Liora could have previously used abilities related to each of these concepts.
Yet, she would have never been able to merge them so seamlessly.
It seemed that the System was right in its assessment.
Abilities hardly mattered once someone reached her current level.
For Archdevils, only the concepts they represented and their mastery over them were important.
With sufficient understanding, a casual blow could possess the power of an intricate ability.
Liora stared at the impact of the previous blow for a few minutes. Many ideas flashed through her mind, and she felt that she had a new understanding of the Archdevil stage.
But very quickly, she regained her composure and softly exhaled.
She shook her head.
Then, she turned around and took a step forward, diving deeper into the Origin Sea and leaving this world, at the edge of devastation, behind.
Her advancement to an Archdevil had also granted her a greater affinity to this place.
Moreover, perhaps influenced by her previous World Devourer bloodline, Liora’s affinity was many times greater than that of an ordinary Archdevil.
She felt as if she had turned into a fish that returned to water.
Her figure rapidly flashed through the darkness as she activated Null Step to teleport every once in a while.
Her route seemed random and did not follow any rules, as if she had gotten lost.
Yet clearly, this could not be the case.
In fact, Liora followed the feeling engraved on her bloodline and moved closer to the crimson light in the distance, knowing that it represented the world standing at the apex of Heavens—the Demon World.
Her birthplace looked close, as if she would be able to reach it within a day at most.
However, Liora understood very well that this was merely an illusion.
The Demon World was far away from her location. It would take her decades, if not centuries, to reach it with her current speed.
This was after she had already advanced.
If she were still a Greater Devil, it would have taken her tens of thousands of years to achieve it.
Liora did not mind. She continued walking forward, paving a bright path in the otherwise dark and desolate place.
Part of her consciousness secretly dove into her soul space and landed on her Throne.
She studied its appearance and the patterns on it, which seemed to possess the ability to illuminate the way forward.
Under such a situation, time quickly went by.
--
Liora kept on studying her new capabilities and did not deliberately keep track of the time.
Therefore, she didn’t know how long she wandered in the Origin Sea.
The most she could know was that she had faced several Chaos Beasts during her journey.
Fortunately, the situation that occurred during her return from the Demon Weapon World did not happen, and she didn’t meet any powerful individuals among their group.
The Chaos Beasts were at most equivalent to a Greater Devil.
Facing Liora’s significantly increased strength, their hearts were ripped out, and they turned into materials destined to be traded in the Demon World.
Despite this, Liora did not let her guard down.
She understood that the biggest threat at the moment did not stem from the environment of the Origin Sea, but from her own enemies.
Indeed, not long after she killed the umpteenth Chaos Beast who happened to encounter her, the people she had been waiting for finally came.
