Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 436: Finally Going Through the Inheritance

Chapter 436: Finally Going Through the Inheritance

It was only an unknown amount of time later that Liora finally stopped and returned to her room.

The moment she did, her consciousness communicated with the millions of Devil Runes outside and urged them with her mind.

The formation was instantly activated.

A faint crimson brilliance enveloped the entire mansion like an egg, forming a dome that resembled a wall of light.

The dome only appeared for a split second. The moment after it materialized, it vanished completely.

No one, including the residents of the nearby buildings or even Alpha herself, noticed its emergence and significance.

Yet, Liora felt reassured.

She knew that the formation had not been deactivated, nor had it failed in any way, resulting in its destruction.

Rather, it had just turned invisible.

As long as anyone dared to infiltrate the mansion, or worse, attack it, the formation would materialize once again and strike at them, even if there was no one in charge.

"Fortunately, the demonic energy in Hollow City is extremely dense and pure. At the same time, the materials used to build the city itself are naturally extraordinary."

"Otherwise, such a large formation would have been impossible to set up. The stronger the formation, the larger its source of power must be. It was no accident that those two Archdevils used several medium-level worlds as nourishment."

Liora knew she was far from the only person in Hollow City to have set up such a formation.

Although her formation achievements were impressive, she had yet to reach the peak of this craft. There were bound to be Archdevils more familiar and more accomplished at arranging formations than her.

This was also one of the reasons why Archdevils were so difficult to kill.

No matter who the Archdevil was, they would have built a fortified base that was nearly impossible to infiltrate.

Within its confines, they would be almost invincible.

Even if the person in question had just advanced and was the most ordinary Archdevil possible, assisted by the environment, a formation, and possibly other treasures, they would be able to suppress all Creation Stage Archdevils with ease.

Liora closed her eyes and sensed her connection with the formation. Her mind moved as she tried to estimate what level of power she could exert.

Soon, she had an answer.

"With the support of the formation, I should be able to deal with any Creation Stage Devil."

"If it’s pushed to the limit and I overdraw the demonic energy of Hollow City, even Throne Stage Devils will have trouble defeating me. There’s a chance that they might perish within it."

Although this only referred to the most ordinary Throne Stage Archdevil, it allowed Liora’s tense body to relax.

The threat of the Universe Chamber of Commerce had previously weighed heavily in her mind.

Though logic said that the other party would not dare to attack her in Hollow City, betting on the other party’s rationality was not something Liora wanted to do.

Rather than that, she preferred to have a way to protect herself.

Now that the formation had been arranged and the nascent version of a fortified base had been set up, she could finally relax.

Sitting down in her room, she softly exhaled and closed her eyes.

Once she had recovered from the mental exhaustion of the fight and the subsequent "chase", Liora opened her eyes again.

She stretched out with her right hand.

Immediately, a miniature palace materialized on top of her palm.

As she concentrated her mind on it, the palace showed signs of expanding.

It seemed that, if Liora permitted it, it would be able to spread throughout the mansion and even cover part of Hollow City.

Fortunately for the other residents, Liora stopped it in time.

She controlled it to maintain the size of an ordinary room, before her consciousness swept out and dove into it.

While doing so, the information she had obtained after refining its core and gaining control over it couldn’t help but resurface in her mind.

"According to the palace’s former owner, Assira’s words were partially true."

"The maze and the palace were indeed created with future civilizations in mind. These people hoped that their ’descendants’ would thrive and allow the world to regain its former glory."

"Once the world became a higher-level one again, these beings would take the opportunity and return."

Liora used the word "partially" to describe it because this was only the purpose of most of the beings who left their inheritance behind.

On the other hand, the true creator of this palace, the Ancient Devil-level being, had other plans.

"According to the palace’s owner, they were originally planning to wander in the Origin Sea alone when they were asked if they wished to help. The other party originally wanted to refuse when they had a premonition:"

"Their intuition told them that leaving behind their inheritance and a treasure would greatly help them in the future."

"After further investigations, they discovered that the person who obtained their inheritance would be extraordinary and they would receive their assistance."

"This is why they set these trials up and left the inheritance palace. With their strength, they didn’t care about the world itself or future civilizations. It’s only because of the potential benefits that they chose to do so."

Such a reason seemed outlandish and strangely convenient.

Yet, although Liora had certain apprehensions and didn’t fully believe it, she didn’t completely rule out this possibility either.

The abilities of Ancient Devils remained mostly a mystery to her.

However, she knew that such beings had the ability to pry into the past, and even briefly alter it while paying a certain price.

Since they could do so, there was no reason why other power systems could not grant similar abilities.

What came to mind was the ability to look into the future.

For another example, the ability to seek good luck and evade danger could have similar results.

Either way, there were countless extraordinary abilities in the world.

There was a chance that this was merely a lie, but similarly, there was a chance that this was the truth.

Countless thoughts went through Liora’s mind as her consciousness dove deeper and deeper into the palace.

The more she thought, the more interested she became.

Not only in the inheritance left by an Ancient Devil-level being, but also in the power system itself.

Could it really grant her such magnificent abilities?

Her mind tore through several different spaces and finally landed deep into the palace.

In a dark void, hundreds of stone tablets floated eerily, as if they were the tombs of a fallen ancient army.

Liora was not surprised upon seeing such a scene.

Her consciousness had already arrived at this place before, when she presented the promised technique to Assira.

Since it was her second time coming here, she recovered very quickly.

Her gaze landed on the hundreds of tombs.

Some of them were small, only the size of an ordinary human, while others were bigger than even the mansion she was currently in.

Their auras were also distinct. Some of them were calm and serene, while others were full of bloodlust and fury.

Liora needed no further explanation. Her previous experiences told her that these "tombs" contained different techniques left behind by that ancient civilization.

As long as her consciousness wrapped around them, she would be able to obtain them.

Besides the palace itself, this was perhaps the largest amount of wealth offered by the inheritance.

However, though these powerful techniques greatly interested her, Liora did not rush to go through them.

Instead, her consciousness landed at the center of the many tombs and concentrated on the plainest-looking and most unassuming stone tablet.

The moment it did, the tomb exploded.

Its debris transformed into symbols, which followed Liora’s connection with the outside world and landed on her body.

Finally, these symbols turned into information. As she digested it, Liora’s eyes couldn’t help but widen.
