Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 540: Showing Off & Changes

Chapter 540: Showing Off & Changes

The scent of blood wafted in the village.

The sounds of battle echoed as the few remaining Awakeners attempted to resist the onslaught of demons.

Unfortunately, the war went as expected.

People began falling soon after the battle commenced. The fallen did not even having the chance to exchange their lives with that of the demons.

If it were a few days ago, such a scene would have caused the tribe members to despair. Some of them would have started to flee.

Yet, a flicker of hope flashed within the villagers’ eyes.

They were waiting. Waiting for the savior in the legends to appear.

Minutes passed. Blood turned into rivers. Corpses piled on top of each other.

The hope in the villagers’ eyes began to fade away.

Just as they were starting to think that the rumors were wrong and that there was no such thing, a deafening roar suddenly shook the heavens.

Time seemed to have paused.

Whether it was the humans or the demons, they were all frozen in place.

Only one thing moved. A single dark dot on the horizon.

One moment it was hundreds of kilometers away, and the next, it had appeared in the sky above them.

Its true identity was revealed. It was a giant dragon.

More than one hundred meters in length and covered in shiny silver scales, it looked majestic and equally beautiful.

A powerful oppression spread from its elegant body as lightning flashed above its head.

Its momentum, and more importantly, its identity, would have made the villagers fearful in the past.

Dragons were hardly known for their good tempers after all.

Although they disdained to seek out humans to kill them, they were far from being truly harmless.

But a strange scene occurred. None of the villagers were scared.

Excitement and hope flashed in their eyes as they looked at the figure on top of the dragon.

It was a woman whose facial features and overall appearance were hard to comprehend.

All that could be known was that she wore a pitch-black dress.

Lady in Black! This was the name the humans in the eastern region had given her, matching the title of her dragon mount.

Over the past few days, this woman had appeared in hundreds of battlefields.

No one knew her identity or her true purpose.

All they could know was that her enemies would never have a good ending.

While the villagers were stunned, the woman in black raised her hand and gently pointed toward the sky.

The world responded to her call and clouds began to gather above her head.

Lightning of several colors sizzled eerily inside before it finally struck.

Zip! Zip! Zip!

Thunder burst out from the clouds, crashing toward the land below like a rain of thunder. It accurately landed on top of each of the demons, turning their bodies into gray ash.

Among the demons attacking the tribe was one reaching Rank 7.

Sensing that something was wrong, it struggled to break free from the suppression and attempted to flee.

But just as it had flashed in the distance, the space in front of one of the lightnings opened and devoured it whole.

When the lightning reappeared, it had teleported right above the demon.

The opponent could offer no resistance. Following the footsteps of its companions, its ashes were soon carried away by a gust of wind.

There was no pause.

After the final demon perished, the silver dragon moved again. Its wings flapped, and it took off again.

Before its departure, it didn’t forget to let out a final roar. Its voice spread throughout the region, as though it were announcing its existence for the world to hear.

An instant later, both the silver dragon and its owner disappeared.

Only the villagers remained.

Some looked at the corpses of their companions with sorrow, while others hugged their companions with excitement.

Regardless of their fate, however, a figure remained etched within their minds.

Although they didn’t know her identity, name, or even appearance, a sense of gratitude arose inside their hearts, accompanied by another feeling.

On the other side, Liora rode atop Ysset’s shrunk-down form and streaked through the blue sky.

Hearing the countless murmurs in her ears and seeing that thousands of new lights had appeared below her Godheads, her face couldn’t help but break into a smile.

She briefly closed her eyes.

Countless insights emerged in her mind, all regarding the nine Laws she had comprehended.

As a result of these insights, the talent genes quickly expanded. The Godheads showed signs of shedding their prototype nature.

Within moments, Liora had grown closer to reaching Rank 8.

Although she was still far away, it was undeniable that she had taken another step toward Rank 8.

It was only a matter of time before she achieved it, without the need to go through a long seclusion or anything like that.

“No wonder most Gods are obsessed with expanding their domain of faith.”

“The speed of progress one can make by utilizing faith is astonishing.”

Unfortunately, such a speed came with certain hidden dangers.

Unlike her, who was simply using faith as her fuel, Gods absorbed it to strengthen themselves.

Such a method indeed made their progress faster than Liora’s. However, unlike them, Liora would not have to worry about potential side effects and future dangers.

While Liora was examining her condition, Ysset continued her flight.

Without requiring further instructions, she led the way toward the next battlefield.

Yet just as Liora was about to sit back and wait for the next opportunity to show off—ahem—to cultivate believers, her expression suddenly shifted.

Her Blood Clone staying in Aaron’s soul space had discovered something. As the memories between them were linked, Liora did as well.

Her expression grew serious. She rose to her feet and motioned for Ysset to stop.

Then, turning around, she looked straight toward the central region.

Her gaze seemed able to travel through time and space, settling on the source behind this change.
