Chapter 563: Changes
Chapter 563: Changes
In a dimly lit chamber, two figures could be seen.
One of them was an elderly woman with a withered appearance and a wrinkled face. She sat silently on the floor, facing the young man standing before her.
Though young in age, the man’s eyes contained a maturity far beyond his peers. The same was true for his aura.
Although he only looked about twenty years old, his aura had reached the apex of Rank 6.
Given the right opportunity, he would be able to advance to Rank 7, becoming one of the youngest World Lords in Blood Forest Realm’s history.
However, Aaron was not as happy as one would have expected.
As he stared at the woman before him, who looked as though she could perish at any moment, he couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable.
Guilt washed over him.
Despite noticing this, the Elder didn’t say anything.
She merely motioned him to get closer with a faint smile.
When he stopped in front of her, the Elder stretched out her hand and placed it on his shoulder.
She gently patted him a couple of times before she opened her mouth to speak:
“You don’t have to feel guilty. It’s all my fault.”
“It’s my responsibility to make up for my past mistakes. Since things have come to this, I have to do what I have to do.”
“If anything, it’s I who should feel guilty, placing this burden on your shoulders at such a young age.”
The Elder offered only a few words of comfort.
Having lived for tens of thousands of years and spent the past few months preparing for this exact moment, she felt no emotion besides relief.
The next moment, she took action.
The Cosmic Energy within her body surged as her talent gene began to tremble.
A powerful aura burst forth from her seemingly fragile body.
Before Aaron could react, an overwhelming force poured into his body.
It spread quickly throughout his cells and filled his talent gene, expanding its space and improving his strength at a terrifying rate.
At the same time, his mind was filled with insights.
Those insights blended together and fused, causing his talent gene to undergo a qualitative transformation.
A few moments later, a deafening explosion echoed from inside his body.
Without facing any difficulty, his Awakener Rank advanced, carrying him from Rank 6 to Rank 7.
Yet the improvement didn’t stop there.
His aura continued surging, showing a tendency to advance even further.
Half an hour later, another explosion rang out, this time even more intense.
Aaron sensed his strength break through a threshold, reaching Rank 8.
However, he had little time to celebrate such an earth-shattering speed of advancement.
As his consciousness returned to reality, he came face to face with the cause behind his improvement in power.
As he lowered his head, he saw that the Elder was no longer sitting in front of him.
Her body had turned into black ashes that drifted along with the wind, leaving behind only a lingering whisper.
“I shall entrust humanity to you…”
For the first and final time, the Elder’s voice carried a hint of fragility. But at the same time, it also carried a hint of hope.
As her voice rang in his ears, Aaron paused for a brief moment.
He looked at the spot where she had just sat for several minutes before bowing respectfully.
The Elder’s final words continued to replay in his mind.
Although they were just the dying words of an elderly woman, they held a similar position as the missions issued by the Mission System in his heart.
—
It was only several hours later that Aaron walked out of the chamber.
By the time he did, the sorrow on his face was nowhere to be seen.
Even as he walked through the empty, ruined stronghold of the Human Temple, his face remained indifferent.
Arriving at the main hall, he waved his hand, raising the semi-broken scepter to transmit several messages.
A few minutes later, two people arrived in the hall.
One was a man, and the other was a woman. Both of their auras were relatively weak, barely reaching Rank 4.
Looking at this pair, who were the only people remaining from the once-prosperous Human Temple, Aaron was left speechless.
He couldn’t help but curse those traitors, who had chosen to give up on humanity and join the enemy’s ranks.
Recalling the words that the Elder had left behind, Aaron could only suppress the thoughts in his heart.
He gave the two people no time to speak.
Raising the scepter representing the authority of the Elders’ Council, he gave a cold order:
“Everyone, the Elder has entered seclusion, intending to improve her strength before the final battle.”
“During this time, the Human Temple will proceed with the previous plan as discussed before.”
As he spoke, his gaze wandered around the crowd… of two people, and his expression became even more solemn.
“We shall bring the false Human Empire down!”, he said, raising his hands.
“You don’t have to fret. Our organization carries the will of all Human Ancestors and the Human Emperor himself. Sooner or later, we shall control the continent once again”, he announced.
As soon as his words fell, the golden scepter in his hand lit up.
A sacred aura spread from the gem at its top and throughout the stronghold. As he bathed in its light, Aaron appeared to have obtained part of the Elder’s demeanor for a brief moment.
—
While the Human Temple and Aaron were planning to act on their plan and throw their enemies’ forces into chaos, the Blood Forest Realm had changed greatly.
Compared to just a few months ago, everything was completely different.
From the structure of the continent to its atmosphere, a person of the past would find it difficult to recognize it as the same place.
The change in the continent’s structure was not merely geopolitical.
Even the continent itself had changed dramatically.
The countless demon habitats that had once been scattered across the continent had all been relocated to the eastern region.
As these were integrated, the Twilight Forest had rapidly expanded.
Countless demons were now gathered there, numbering in the millions, if not billions.
On the completely opposite side of the continent, a crimson, scorched land had unknowingly formed.
Demonic energy surged toward the sky throughout this land, as Devils wandered around it, constantly engaged in a tug-of-war.
Thousands of them had become True Devils, and combined with Liora’s World Seed, their combat prowess had grown terrifying, no weaker than the demons.
Yet despite this, neither of these two forces attacked the continent’s mainland.
That was because a giant force had unknowingly formed there.
Banding together all humans and giving up on the previous God-protected tribe structure, a unified empire had been established.
