Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 566: Broken Fortress & Mechanical Race

Chapter 566: Broken Fortress & Mechanical Race

Liora received the Trial to enter the Blood Forest Realm not long after her arrival at the War Academy and this world as a whole.

When she first landed there, her strength was merely at Rank 5, and she had yet to regain her Devil strength.

Although her combat prowess was higher than her Awakener Rank would suggest, it remained a fact that she was relatively weak at the time.

But by now, Liora’s power had undergone massive changes.

Having regained her strength and following the creation of the Cosmic Sea, she could now contend against Ancient Devils and Rank 11 Awakeners.

If the Human Emperor clone was taken into account, her combat prowess was even stronger.

Back then, she had already been able to break through the membrane of the secret realm and return to the universe.

With her current strength, this was now even simpler.

Yet, while Liora was expecting to see the giant fortress floating in space and be greeted by the soldiers along its walls, the scene that met her sight was actually completely different.

The familiar scent of blood assaulted Liora’s senses as soon as she stepped out of the Blood Forest Realm.

The moment her foot landed on the “ground”, the sound of liquid splashing echoed.

It was not water, but fresh blood.

More specifically, a giant sea of blood spread throughout the space around her, stretching for hundreds of kilometers with seemingly no end.

Such a sight was gruesome and shocking, as though she had suddenly returned to the Demon World.

Yet Liora had little time to pay attention to it.

All her focus was on the colossal fortress in front of her. Or rather, what little remained of it.

Pieces of metal—fragments of the walls, the buildings, and even the city itself—could be seen everywhere.

Some of them floated in space and flew away, while others fell into the blood sea and drifted along its waves.

Clearly, the fortress was no more.

A bloody battle had taken place here not long ago.

Although the final outcome was impossible to make out, the lack of any human soldiers meant that the Human Federation had suffered greatly.

Liora’s eyebrows furrowed.

She sensed an unfamiliar aura remaining on the chunks of metal, an aura she had never seen before.

At first, she didn’t understand what its source could possibly be.

But only a few moments later, a buzzing sound echoed.

The sound of metal scraping against each other rang out, and Liora noticed a faraway aura rapidly approach her location.

She instinctively wanted to conceal herself. However, as her consciousness swept outward and investigated the opponent, that impulse was quickly suppressed.

A strange light flashed across her pupils as she turned her head and looked at its general direction.

Then, she didn’t move, but waited for the other party to arrive.

It didn’t take long.

Only a few seconds later, the owner of the unfamiliar aura arrived.

Surprisingly, it was neither a human nor a demon.

It was not even a Zerg, the race that had guided Liora and the Hollow Ancestor to this universe and was considered the most mysterious.

Instead, it was a type of creature that Liora had never seen before.

Made of metal and with a blue screen acting as its head, it looked like a humanoid moving computer, one that one would only see in movies.

Mechanical Race!

As soon as she took a glimpse of it, Liora was able to recognize its identity.

Its appearance was unmistakable.

Moreover, since she had never encountered one before, and this race was somewhat related to Alpha, Liora had paid special attention to their information.

While she was sizing up the opponent, the Mechanical Race did the same.

Its “head” moved up and down, as though it were a turning gyroscope.

A moment later, the blue on its screen flickered.

It slowly turned red.

A giant exclamation mark flashed across the screen, and an emotionless voice rang out:

“Unknown extraterrestrial form has been detected! Analysis is underway…”

“Ding! The enemy has been identified: Human—Error! Error!”

“Demon—Error! Error!”

“Danger Threat Level: EX. Acting according to the protocol… Decision: Escape!”

The moment the final word escaped its “mouth”, the Mechanical Race member spun around in place, soared into the sky, and attempted to flee.

At the same time, countless illusory bubbles emerged from his body and scattered in every direction, tracing the invisible lines woven throughout space.

The bubbles were strangely familiar, somewhat similar to the power of the Information World.

As soon as she saw them, Liora realized what was happening.

The other party was trying to inform its other race members of her existence.

The ability of the Mechanical Race to communicate regardless of distance was something she had seen in their racial information before, though she never expected that their ability would be so strange.

Regardless, Liora acted quickly.

With a move of her mind, endless cosmic dust erupted from her body, washing over the surrounding space and sealing it off.

As the illusory bubbles came into contact with the cosmic dust, they instantly burst apart.

While breathing a sigh of relief, Liora’s eyes locked onto the fleeing opponent.

She reached out, and her hand pierced through time and space, landing directly on its body and holding it in place.

She wished to pull out its soul and devour it to gain information, only to realize that she couldn’t.

Not because of the opponent’s strength, but because there was nothing to pull out.

“According to the Human Federation, the Mechanical Race is the only race in the world that doesn’t have a soul.”

“I previously regarded this as just another baseless rumor. Now, it seems that there is some truth to it.”

Realizing this, Liora’s eyes narrowed.

She clenched her fist, causing the enemy’s body to crack.

Just as it was about to explode, though, her movements suddenly halted.

A voice rang directly within her mind, interrupting her actions.

“My Lord, please keep it alive!”
