Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 571: Undercurrents & War God

Chapter 571: Undercurrents & War God

Undercurrents surged throughout the already turbulent Human Federation.

The destruction of several galaxies, by itself, was nothing.

The Federation controlled millions of galaxies. Hundreds of them were destroyed every year.

Combined with the fact that no humans had lived within the shattered ones, the actual losses were negligible.

It was the fact that such an incident had even occurred that truly shocked everyone.

The borders of each Apex Civilization were heavily guarded by powerful Awakeners, advanced technology, and countless other defensive measures.

For something, or someone, to infiltrate Human Federation territory and wreak such havoc was enough to set alarm bells ringing throughout the highest levels of the Federation.

Within moments of the incident, the Human Federation mobilized its full investigative capabilities.

Teams of Awakeners were sent out, tasked with searching for any clue that could reveal the culprit’s identity.

There were thousands of them, soon arriving near the shattered galaxies.

Yet what none of them could ever have guessed was that the culprit behind everything was currently inside a small spacecraft, drifting silently through the currents of space.

Looking out through the spacecraft’s window, Liora couldn’t help but lick her lips subconsciously before shaking her head.

She felt she might have gone a little overboard this time. It was just that she had been too excited to test the extent of Cosmic Sea’s ability.

Her thoughts wandered briefly as she carefully reviewed everything she had done, confirming that every trace of evidence had been erased.

Only then did she turn her attention to the matter at hand.

Lowering her gaze, she looked toward the planet below.

Countless towering buildings of varying architectural styles intertwined on top of it to form what looked like a vast floating city.

The War Academy.

Compared to when she had first seen it a few months ago, the academy had changed drastically.

Far fewer people walked its streets, while spacecraft constantly departed from the academy. Very few actually came back.

Those that did arrive were all in miserable condition, carrying the heavy scent of blood and an unmistakable aura of slaughter.

Liora’s eyes narrowed.

It was obvious that even the Super-grade War Academy had been affected by the war.

No. Perhaps precisely because it was one of the strongest academies in the Human Federation, it had been affected more than any other.

Realizing this, Liora instructed Alpha to descend.

Soon, the spacecraft entered the academy’s jurisdiction and the two were forced to disembark.

After completing the registration procedures, Liora returned to her residence.

Of course, she had no intention of staying there for long.

The moment she stepped inside, her thoughts moved as her consciousness connected to the Information World.

Liora opened her contact list.

A long list of names immediately unfolded before her.

Some belonged to classmates, others to professors. There were also acquaintances she had met throughout her journey or people she had briefly interacted with.

However, Liora quickly scrolled past them all.

Shortly afterward, her gaze settled on a crimson-colored contact as she mentally pressed on it.

Instantly, the world around her dissolved into countless streams of numbers and intricate symbols.

The familiar sensation of spatial transfer washed over her, reminding her of when she had first entered the Blood Arena.

By the time she opened her eyes again, her residence had vanished completely.

A vast expanse unfolded before her, illuminated by the iridescent glow of countless colors.

The space was mostly empty.

Only several enormous masses floated throughout it, occupying only a tiny fraction of the endless landscape.

At first glance, they resembled giant floating continents akin to the Demon World.

Yet as Liora looked more closely, she realized these were not continents at all.

They were all corpses.

Some belonged to Zerg, others to demons, while some were members of the Mechanical Race.

Even human corpses could be seen among them, though there seemed to be something fundamentally different about them.

Liora was briefly surprised.

She could sense that every one of these corpses possessed an overwhelmingly powerful aura.

None were below Rank 9. Several had even faintly surpassed Rank 10, brushing against the stage of the Ancient Devils.

More importantly, Liora noticed something else about them.

Although this place existed within the Information World, these corpses were not mere projections.

They were real, like anchors of reality that had been embedded within this illusory dimension.

Liora needed only a brief glance to understand everything.

She recovered shortly after, shook her head, and shifted her attention away from the corpses.

Soon, she focused on another “landmass” situated at the very center of this space.

Compared to the others, this one was incomparably more terrifying. At the same time, it was also the only one that radiated life.

Liora could clearly sense a living aura emanating from it, making it obvious that, unlike the surrounding remains, its owner was still alive.

Without hesitation, she stepped forward.

The surrounding space seemed to ignore the concept of distance.

What initially appeared to be several light-years apart was traveled in only a few steps, as though the world was folding around her.

Before long, Liora had approached close enough to make out its true appearance.

It was a man.

He was sitting cross-legged.

Just like the surrounding corpses, his body was unimaginably enormous, so massive that he looked more like a celestial body than a human.

Of course, for beings of Liora’s level, physical size meant very little.

External appearances were deceptive.

If she wished, Liora could expand her own body until it dwarfed entire galaxies, let alone planets.

Even so, this man was different.

His current state appeared to be his real body, as though it was the form in which he could display the greatest extent of his power.

Just as Liora was observing him, the slumbering giant finally seemed to notice her arrival.

His body trembled slightly, like a world experiencing an earthquake.

His eyelids fluttered.

A moment later, his eyes opened wide, revealing a pair of pitch-black pupils hidden beneath them.

“…You’re finally here.”, the man said, his voice hoarse, as though he had not spoken for centuries.
