Chapter 573: Extraterrestrial Battlefield XC33XTI
Chapter 573: Extraterrestrial Battlefield XC33XTI
The extraterrestrial battlefields came in many different forms.
Some were simply border regions between the Apex Civilizations, where small skirmishes had gradually escalated into full-fledged battlefields over the course of countless years.
Others were formed from fragments of secret realms, ancient ruins, treasured lands, or forbidden zones, where Awakeners constantly fought over resources.
It was rumored that millions of beings died within these places every year.
The moment Liora entered the extraterrestrial battlefield, she found little reason to doubt those rumors any longer.
The scent of blood lingered in the air, accompanied by an oppressive aura of doom and destruction.
Looking through the spacecraft’s window, she saw ruined planets and shattered meteorites drifting through space.
Scattered across them were the remnants of once-thriving civilizations, silent witnesses to countless battles fought over the ages.
Liora silently observed the scenery without any change in expression.
After a while, she lightly tapped the metallic wall beside her with her slender fingers.
Almost instantly, a blue phantom materialized before her. It bowed respectfully.
Liora motioned for Alpha to rise. Then, she asked:
“How is it? Have you finished investigating this battlefield?”
Alpha nodded without hesitation.
Without giving any suspense, she began explaining.
“My Lord, I’ve already compiled the information available within the Information World and finished analyzing everything provided by the War God.”
“I now possess a preliminary understanding of Battlefield XC33XTI.”
As she spoke, Alpha briefly glanced out the window before continuing:
“In most extraterrestrial battlefields, entrants must first register with the military. Only after their identities and backgrounds have been verified are they permitted to enter.”
“But this battlefield is different…”
“I’m sure my Lord already knows that this place was formed in the place of an ancient battlefield. According to historical records, billions of beings once perished here, including dozens of Rank 11 Awakeners.”
“The resentment of the fallen, combined with the shattered fabric of space itself, gave birth to this unique environment.”
Alpha paused briefly. She shook her head with some regret, as though mourning for the fallen powerhouses.
“Because of that, navigation here is especially difficult. Even Rank 7 Awakeners have a chance of becoming lost, while Rank 8 and Rank 9 experts must constantly remain vigilant.”
“Likewise, Rank 11 and above are unable to enter this battlefield. Otherwise, it will immediately collapse.”
“The combination of these restrictions originally made this place quite unpopular. Until recently, few people chose to venture here. But the recent changes have turned Battlefield XC33XTI into a true slaughterhouse.”
While Alpha was explaining everything, the spacecraft never slowed down.
Part of Liora’s consciousness quietly extended beyond the vehicle and investigated the outside world.
Almost immediately, she confirmed Alpha’s explanation.
The structure of this region was indeed bizarre.
Hundreds of overlapping spatial layers intertwined with one another, constantly shifting.
There was no distinction between them.
One moment, the spacecraft would be traveling through one layer, while the next, it would unknowingly transition into another.
With every jump, the surrounding scenery changed, along with the spacecraft’s trajectory. It was as if they were constantly being teleported.
Alpha was forced to make millions of microscopic adjustments every second simply to maintain a straight course toward their destination.
Clearly, navigating this battlefield without an exceptionally powerful consciousness was nearly impossible.
Even so, Liora sensed countless auras scattered throughout the surrounding space.
Naturally, she wasn’t surprised. The War God had already explained the reason before her departure.
Not long ago, an enormous city had appeared in the deepest region of this battlefield.
Stretching across several planets, the city was filled with treasures and various relics, seemingly the remains of an ancient civilization.
Although no one had successfully entered its true core yet, those who managed to explore its outer districts had already returned with countless treasures.
As news of this spread throughout the universe, Awakeners from every Apex Civilization flocked to the battlefield.
What had once been a relatively quiet warzone had transformed into one of the most dangerous places in the Cosmic Universe within the span of a few days.
“In truth, the appearance of the city merely accelerated the outbreak of war at this place.”
“The battlefield’s environment itself is just as important. Perhaps even more so.”
“After all, the inability of Rank 11 experts to interfere gives lower-ranked Awakeners the confidence to venture inside. At the same time, its chaotic spatial structure makes this place the perfect hunting ground…”
Liora’s eyes narrowed as she slowly rose to her feet.
Almost at the same moment, the spacecraft’s alarm sounded. Alpha’s calm voice echoed throughout the cabin, accurately landing in her ears:
“A lifeform has been detected four light-years away from the spacecraft.”
“Cross-referencing Human Federation military database…”
“Target identified as non-human. Target identified as hostile.”
While this was happening, a miniature holographic map appeared before Liora.
On the map were two white dots, one representing her own spacecraft and the other the approaching target.
Apparently, the enemy had also detected her. Without the slightest hesitation, it abruptly changed course and charged directly toward her.
Although they were separated by several light-years, both sides were traveling at astonishing speed.
At this rate, they would meet in less than a minute.
Sure enough, only moments later, the two markers nearly overlapped.
Liora raised her head and looked through the spacecraft’s window.
She finally had a chance to see the enemy’s true appearance.
It was a gigantic creature several kilometers long.
Its body was covered in orange scales, resembling an enormous, long lizard.
Unlike ordinary reptiles, however, this being stood upright on its own two legs, while a pair of crimson eyes shone with brutality and thirst for blood.
“A demon…”, Liora immediately recognized its identity. It would have been difficult not to.
The instant her gaze landed upon the creature, the demon noticed her as well.
It had no intention of communicating with her.
On the extraterrestrial battlefields, anyone who did not belong to one’s own civilization was an enemy.
Over the years, a rule had formed:
Anyone who does not belong to our race should…
“Die!”, a furious roar shook the surrounding void.
The demon stretched its hand out, bringing its enormous claw toward the spacecraft.
The mere shadow of the attack seemed enough to plunge the entire vehicle into darkness.
Similarly, the opponent’s true strength was now fully displayed:
Rank 8!
Within minutes of Liora’s arrival on the battlefield, she had managed to encounter such an opponent!
