Chapter 574: World Lords, Kings & Venerables
Chapter 574: World Lords, Kings & Venerables
Following Rank 6, every Rank carried its own unified title, independent of races and civilizations.
Rank 7 Awakeners were known as World Lords, Rank 8 as Kings, and Rank 9 powerhouses as Venerables.
These were not merely honorary titles, but symbols of the authority and status their owners possessed within the Cosmic Universe.
A Rank 7 Awakener was already powerful enough to rule over entire galaxy clusters.
As for Kings and Venerables, their influence went a step further, being completely unimaginable.
Under normal circumstances, a Rank 6 Awakener might never encounter such beings throughout their entire life.
Yet not long after arriving at the extraterrestrial battlefield, Liora, an “ordinary Rank 7 Awakener”, had the misfortune of running into one.
“Sure enough, this place is every bit as dangerous as the reports claimed. Coming here is a death sentence for ordinary people.”, Liora whispered inwardly as she watched the claw rapidly descend toward her.
Even so, there wasn’t the slightest trace of panic on her face.
With a move of her mind, her figure blurred before vanishing.
By the time she reappeared, she was outside the spacecraft, standing calmly above it.
The surrounding space rippled violently. Its chaotic currents crashed against her body as though wishing to tear her apart.
Liora immediately sensed that the pressure here surpassed that exerted by an ordinary galaxy.
Despite this, it was nowhere near enough to harm her.
Raising her head, she faced the incoming claw and slowly extended her own hand.
This time, she did not call upon the Cosmic Sea.
Instead, she activated the ability she had once used to disguise herself with—Elemental Affinity.
Within the Cosmic Sea, the corresponding elemental star trembled.
Boundless elemental energy surged forth, rapidly converging in front of her.
In the blink of an eye, it condensed into a towering claw.
Similar in appearance to the one of the demon before her, it could even be said to be its exact replica.
The only difference was that, while the demon’s claw consisted of flesh and blood, Liora’s was forged entirely from the four elements.
A moment later, the two claws clashed.
Yet the expected stalemate never came.
Only a brief moment later, the sound of flesh being torn echoed throughout the surrounding space. An agonized roar followed immediately after.
The demon’s enormous body was blasted backward for several kilometers before it finally managed to stabilize itself.
Only then did its appearance become clear once more.
Little had changed. It had remained the same.
With only a sole exception: its right hand, which it had used to perform the earlier strike, was now nowhere to be seen!
It had neither been shattered nor severed, but had instead been erased out of existence.
The King demon had no time to focus on the pain. It couldn’t help but curse inwardly.
Damn it! It had already examined the opponent’s strength before finally making the decision to attack.
The woman before it had only displayed the aura of a Rank 7 World Lord.
How could she possibly possess such terrifying strength?
“How could a Venerable be this shameless?”
“Rank 11 experts are already forbidden from entering this battlefield. What’s the point of concealing your real strength?”
Yes.
Through their brief exchange, the demon had already reached its own conclusion. A Rank 7 or Rank 8 opponent could not possibly injure it so easily.
The only explanation was that Liora was actually a Rank 9 Venerable concealing herself. Otherwise, such overwhelming strength made no sense.
In a sense, the conclusion the demon arrived at wasn’t entirely wrong.
Liora was indeed hiding her strength.
Unfortunately for it, it had still severely underestimated her.
Against the current Liora, even an ordinary Venerable would struggle to survive more than a few exchanges.
Naturally, the demon’s attempt to flee was doomed from the very beginning.
The instant it turned around, intending to escape, the elements of wind and water intertwined.
An endless expanse of ice quickly spread, instantly sealing the surrounding region.
Within moments, an enormous prison had formed around the opponent.
The demon roared in fury.
Raising its remaining claw, it struck with all its strength, wanting to break free.
With its strength, even the space along its trajectory began to be torn apart.
When it came to the ice prison, however, it remained unmoved.
The attack landed upon its blue surface and failed to leave behind even the slightest mark.
If anything, the result was the opposite of what it wanted.
The backlash sent the demon stumbling backward.
Unable to withstand the force it had unleashed, its remaining arm exploded into a shower of blood and flesh.
Another cry echoed, this time miserable and full of pain.
Its crimson eyes became even more bloodshot as it gradually lost control of its own emotions. Demons were animals with extraordinary power after all.
It lashed out again and again, all in an attempt to shatter the cage of ice binding it.
Unfortunately, its efforts proved futile.
The prison seemed to have been nailed into reality, unable to be moved, much less shattered.
Outside the prison, Liora remained completely indifferent to the demon’s desperate screams.
She merely landed on top of the cage and looked below, her gaze piercing through its walls to land on the demon sealed within.
She felt no sense of accomplishment.
With her current strength, there was no reason to feel happy about capturing a Venerable, much less a mere King.
Still, the demon’s appearance had come at the perfect time.
“Other people’s information, even if trusted, can only tell me so much after all.”
“No matter how thorough Alpha’s investigation is, it can never compare to seeing things for myself.”
As she looked down at the imprisoned demon, Liora subconsciously licked her lips.
The next instant, her body dissolved into countless particles of cosmic dust.
They rapidly converged into a vast, revolving black hole whose devouring force easily engulfed everything nearby.
The seemingly indestructible ice prison was the first to collapse, disappearing into the whirlpool.
The demon’s eyes lit up with hope upon seeing this, only for it to be replaced by despair the next instant.
Moments later, its own body shattered into its tiniest particles and was swallowed by the endless sea of cosmic dust.
Only a single scream lingered behind.
A moment later, even that was gone.
