Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 616: Devouring

Chapter 616: Devouring

Although Liora forcefully fused the Mechanical Law with Alpha and the latter had already shown some signs of advancing further, that process was bound not to be instantaneous.

Even if it didn’t take a long time, such as months or years, it would still require a few hours.

Under normal circumstances, such a short amount of time was nothing.

Liora would be willing to wait for her to finish.

However, with everything happening in the extraterrestrial battlefield and the Cosmic Universe as a whole, she knew she could not afford to waste any time.

After enveloping Alpha with her power and placing her within one of the many worlds inside the Cosmic Sea, Liora shifted her attention back to reality.

Raising her hand, she turned it into a fist and punched forward.

Immediately, the space in front of her shattered like fragile glass.

A giant hole quickly formed, and the outline of a faint hall could be seen inside of it.

Liora did not hesitate.

Ignoring the tearful Alice in her hand, she took a step forward and entered the opening.

When she opened her eyes again, Liora found herself not in the deepest layer of space, but back in the trial hall.

Sensing the familiar atmosphere and the lingering auras, she subtly nodded her head.

Then, she turned to look at Alice.

“Is there anything valuable in the palace besides this inheritance?”

“A treasure, some kind of precious resource, or any weapons, perhaps?”

In response, Alice immediately shook her head.

“No.”

She paused briefly.

“Not only in the palace, but in the entire city fragment, there is nothing that could prove useful to someone of your level.”

“In fact, besides the City Lord Palace, the only valuable thing in this fragment is the Heavenly Armor Pavilion. However, you should have already obtained the things over there.”

Alice appeared quite familiar with the city fragment.

Although she had been created to be sacrificed to the eventual inheritor, it was a fact that she was tasked with overseeing the inheritance during this time.

Combined with her strength as the Law’s personification, it made sense that she had a good understanding of the district.

Alice’s words made Liora visibly disappointed. Even though the inheritance had not been helpful to her, the journey to obtain it had provided her with unimaginable benefits.

Not only had she obtained the Battle Fury Hammer, a Rank 11 Law, and various cultivation techniques, but she had also managed to advance.

Both in Devil stage, having reached the very peak of the Archdevil stage, but also in terms of the Cosmic Sea within her.

“However, there is no need to be too greedy.”, Liora shook her head.

“These are already more than worth my trip.”

“Furthermore, it’s not like there is nothing else valuable in here…”

As she said these words, Liora raised her head and looked at the trial hall surrounding her.

Then, her gaze pierced through the reinforced walls, reaching the palace and the city fragment beyond it.

“Even if there are no inheritances or divine weapons, the city fragment by itself is quite useful to me…”

The moment these words fell, Liora waved her hand and forced Alice to enter the Cosmic Sea.

Then, her body broke down at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Her blood, flesh, and bones all disappeared in an instant.

In her place, there was no longer a living creature, but a giant, revolving black hole.

Countless amounts of cosmic dust constantly swirled around its edges, causing an overwhelming devouring force to burst forth.

The next moment, a clicking sound rang out.

Space itself shattered. Before the fragments could scatter, the devouring force seized them, dragging them into the black hole.

As though an invisible hand had picked them up and was controlling them, they moved toward the hole and quickly disappeared.

Space tried to mend itself, only for the devouring force to tear it apart again.

Not only did it fail to recover in the end, but the impact actually started to spread.

At first, only the space of a few meters around the hole shattered.

But very quickly, the range began to spread.

Ten meters. One hundred meters. One kilometer.

In the blink of an eye, the devouring force had engulfed the entire trial hall before shattering the walls and spreading beyond it.

The corridors outside. The chambers she had previously visited. The palace as a whole.

During the spread of the destruction, the knight puppets that had managed to survive were also wiped out.

These beings, some of which could contend with Rank 10 Emperors, were instantly broken apart and devoured.

Throughout the whole process, they were unable to offer any resistance and could only watch powerlessly as their bodies were torn apart and transformed into their smallest particles.

Even their death caused little change.

The impact’s range continued to expand as though nothing had happened.

From the remains of the palace, countless amounts of cosmic dust suddenly broke out and spread to the rest of the city.

The whole city block was instantly left in ruins, as were the surrounding city blocks.

Courtyards, shops, and any other building the cosmic dust met were unable to withstand the overwhelming force. They were all forced to merge with the black hole.

Silence. Destruction.

For a moment, it seemed as though the city fragment had turned into the Land of Nothingness—the world that embodied the power of Nothingness itself.

But just then, a deafening, excruciating scream echoed.

From one of the many shattered buildings, an illusory figure suddenly shot out.

As soon as it appeared, it stared at the cosmic dust in horror before spinning around and attempting to flee.

Unfortunately, it had no chance to go far.

Only a split second later, the cosmic dust transformed into a tentacle, lashing out before wrapping around its waist.

Then, pulling it backwards, it led the figure into the black hole.

The scene was shocking.

For someone to be able to survive the Era’s destruction, it was obvious that their strength was extremely high.

Even if what remained behind was just a remnant soul, their power and the trump cards at their disposal could be imagined.

Yet such a being instantly died, unable to offer any resistance throughout the process.

This figure’s death seemed to have caused an intense reaction.

From all over the city, similar figures emerged and attempted to escape too.

They used all their means to try and leave the city fragment, unwilling to become one with the cosmic dust behind them.

Unfortunately, their fate had long been sealed.

Countless tentacles erupted from the black hole, enveloped them before dragging them back.

It didn’t take long.

Within a moment, every living creature in the city fragment had died.

Silence once again shrouded the district as their terrified screams ceased.

Despite this, the black hole never stopped revolving.

Motionless and faintly beyond reality itself, it continued corroding the city and making it a part of it.
