“Forget about that hammer you’ve been waving around. Haven’t you been curious about the cultivator’s true weapons all this time?”
“This is it.”, she pointed at the token and continued dramatically:
“A growth-type weapon! Worthy of the name ‘Divine Weapon’!”
Alice looked truly proud while speaking, as though she was the one who had created the weapon.
However, Liora knew she was wholly justified in showing pride in the cultivators’ methods.
Indeed, she had already noticed that this token was slowly evolving into a weapon.
And, just like Alice claimed, it could fuse with other Immortal Tokens to accelerate the process while empowering itself.
When she first obtained the Battle Fury Hammer, Liora had wondered whether there was a weapon that could provide massive enhancements to Rank 11 or even Rank 12 Awakeners.
Now, she realized that there was. This weapon prototype was living proof of that.
Just a prototype could already kill Rank 10 beings with ease.
If thousands of Immortal Tokens were gathered together, then how powerful would its completed form become?
Would it be able to slay Ancient Devils with the same ease?
Liora’s reaction to that information was… somewhat abnormal.
Unlike ordinary people, she didn’t start planning about how to obtain more Immortal Tokens but instead considered what benefits she would receive if she were to devour this object and make it a part of the Cosmic Sea.
Would doing so result in the birth of another Law Star?
Or would the existing Cultivation Star be strengthened even further and brought to the next level?
Perhaps neither would be true, and some other type of reaction would occur.
Liora didn’t know the answer.
Even so, her instincts as a Devil screamed at her to devour the token.
Thankfully, she quickly suppressed that impulse.
“Devouring a weapon prototype would be a waste.”
“This thing could prove useful, whether in order to disguise myself as an ‘ordinary’ Emperor, or even in battles against equal opponents.”
“Even if I wanted to devour it, I’d have to wait until I gathered the entire weapon. Doing so at the moment is absolutely not worth it.”
Liora reluctantly stopped thinking about it.
She glanced toward Alice, only to find that she was still wearing an expression full of pride.
Clearly, this girl did not know that the item she was so proud of and admired greatly had just almost become Liora’s meal.
She continued praising the cultivators’ intelligence and methods, as though afraid that Liora would dare underestimate them.
“Alright. That’s enough.”, Liora waved her hand to interrupt her after a while.
“The structure of this token is indeed quite novel. Unfortunately, you know my strength the best.”, she sighed.
“Just two tokens are far from being able to provide me with any help. This thing… is useless. Perhaps I should throw it away rather than carry it with me.”
Liora’s tone was dismissive.
She repeatedly shook her head, and a look of disgust flashed across her eyes as she held onto the token.
Although she appeared to be doing her best to conceal it, it was apparent that she was filled with contempt about the ancient cultivators.
Such a reaction made Alice’s face turn red.
She wanted to scream that Liora was speaking nonsense. However, recalling Liora’s own strength, she realized that these words were not necessarily a lie.
For the current Liora, the effect of the token was minimal—except for eating it, of course.
However, Alice would never take this lying down.
“Idiot!” she cursed with a red face.
“That’s only because you don’t understand the Immortal Token yet!”
“Do you think that this is all this weapon can do? You’re simply too ignorant of the cultivators’ methods!”
“Here. With this technique, gathering more Immortal Tokens will be easy for you.”
“Hmph! You think that two of them are useless. I want to see what you’ll think when five, ten, or twenty of them are fused together.”
As she spoke, Alice pointed her finger toward Liora, sending a stream of light out of her fingertips.
The light floated for a brief moment before firing toward Liora.
Liora did not resist.
She allowed the stream to merge with her body and watched it turn into a torrent of information.
It was a technique. But unlike most of the techniques one could find, this one’s purpose was neither to increase one’s strength nor to improve one’s stage.
It was a method developed specifically to locate Immortal Tokens!
Using the resonance Liora had witnessed before, a holder of an Immortal Token could locate other tokens.
The more of them they had brought together, the larger the range in which they could search.
Liora only needed a thought to master this technique.
As she circulated it according to the instructions, she immediately felt her perception expand.
A map of several light-years materialized in her mind.
Most of it was dark. Only two spots of light could be seen, those belonging to the Immortal Tokens in her possession.
Yet although she failed to find anything new, Liora was already satisfied.
“Although the range of a few light-years is nothing great, the tokens are all inside the extraterrestrial battlefield. Given time, conducting a blanket search and finding them all is entirely possible.”
Of course, Liora knew an easier and more straightforward way to obtain more Immortal Tokens.
Arriving at the ancient city.
“Most of these things will be within the city fragments. To take them out, their current holders ought to be quite strong or lucky.”
“Such people will never be satisfied with merely obtaining the City Lords’ inheritance. Their goal will be the ancient city itself.”
With that thought, Liora deactivated the search technique and placed the token away.
After collecting Alice back into the Cosmic Sea, she turned around and resumed her journey toward the ancient city.
The only difference now was that Liora would stop from time to time to search for more Immortal Tokens.
Aside from that, the only change was within the Cosmic Sea. Or rather, at the world where Alpha was currently located.
