Chapter 622: Fusion
Chapter 622: Fusion
Although Liora was not tricked by Alice’s antics, she still decided to do as instructed.
In fact, she had already sensed that there was something unusual about the moment she had gotten her hands on this Immortal Token.
As soon as she touched it, the Immortal Token resting within the Cosmic Sea resonated, trembling as though the two objects were communicating with each other.
Everything suggested that Alice was telling the truth. The Immortal Tokens indeed had a relationship.
With that thought, Liora did not hesitate.
As her mind moved and the Cosmic Sea contracted, the second, original Immortal Token appeared in her left hand.
Two tokens. Resting on each of her hands.
Yet the moment the two showed up at the same time, the previous resonance emerged once again.
This time, it was even more violent.
Liora felt that the two tokens were trying to escape her grasp and pull themselves toward one another, like two powerful magnets.
The amount of force within them was surprising.
At the very least, Liora strongly suspected that Rank 10 Awakeners would struggle to retain their grip and would be forced to let the Immortal Tokens fly away.
Even though Liora’s own strength made this impossible, she soon relaxed her grip.
Under her gaze, the two Immortal Tokens slowly approached each other until they finally met.
There was no collision, nor any material reaction as the two tokens came into contact.
Instead, the two tokens turned translucent, their forms overlapping until they became one.
Then…
A thunderous explosion echoed within Liora’s mind, as though reenacting the scene of the world being created.
Her mind went black for a brief moment. The sound itself had the ability to stun one’s soul.
Thankfully, Liora quickly recovered from the shock.
But by the time she snapped back to reality, the extraordinary phenomena surrounding the two tokens had already vanished.
The two had unknowingly merged into one.
The new token’s surface remained golden, with the only difference being that it had grown slightly deeper.
Moreover, as Liora examined it even further, she noticed that the token now contained a hue of crimson, as though it was in the midst of a transformation process.
Liora was curious.
With a wave of her hand, the token was enveloped by her power and settled onto her palm.
She instantly felt its enormous weight. For a brief moment, she had the illusion that she was not holding a mere token, but an entire mountain.
No!
With Liora’s strength, holding a mountain was easy.
From her point of view, it felt as though she were carrying an entire world.
Its weight wasn’t its only extraordinary characteristic.
As Liora clutched it tightly, she noticed that a terrifying power lurked within its unassuming body, ready to explode with unbelievable force once it got a signal.
Liora pondered this feeling for a few seconds.
Then, her demonic energy flowed onto the new token, and she casually flicked it forward.
An overwhelming aura immediately erupted.
The instant the token left Liora’s hand, it seemed to have grown out of her control.
Transforming into a golden stream of light with a crimson hue, it fired through the battlefield like a rapidly descending meteor.
The space along its trajectory was lit ablaze, evidence of its overwhelming power.
The token’s speed was truly astonishing.
Within a matter of moments, it had already crossed several light-years, appearing in another part of the extraterrestrial battlefield.
Just as Liora was planning to recall it using her consciousness, though, her eyes suddenly narrowed.
In the distance, she noticed the figure of a lone Emperor-level demon. Seemingly attracted by the earlier noise, he was rushing toward the token’s location.
The moment Liora caught wind of him, the trajectory of the stream of light changed.
Before anyone could react, it had appeared in front of the demon and slammed onto him.
This Emperor was quite powerful.
Although he was not as strong as the Heaven Emperor or the Cosmos Emperor mentioned in the ancient city fragment, he had at least reached the level of the tentacled Emperor.
Yet before the upgraded form of the Immortal Token, he had neither the time nor the power to resist.
His entire body was shredded apart, sending chunks of flesh and rivers of blood in every direction.
Given his strength, recovery from such a state was entirely possible.
But before he could activate any of his abilities, the token slammed into him once again.
Targeting the area where his life force remained strongest, it unleashed another round of power.
Just like before, the Emperor could not resist this time either.
The difference, however, was that he no longer had another chance.
As he and the token came into contact, the latter appeared to have erased the concept of his existence.
His maimed body parts stopped moving, and his soul was also extinguished.
A moment later, a figure condensed before his remains.
Liora.
Glancing at the large amount of destruction and at the several-kilometer-long corpse of the Emperor, her eyes flickered.
She collected the token floating not far away.
Truthfully, she was not too shocked regarding the death of the Emperor. With her current strength, killing him was nothing unexpected.
What surprised Liora, however, was the ease with which the token had accomplished this feat.
The amount of demonic energy she had consumed was negligible, similar to the expenditure of casting an ordinary Fireball.
More importantly, Liora knew that she had not unleashed the token’s true power just yet.
As long as she poured more energy into this treasure, its power would increase even further.
Just as she was mulling over these feelings, a figure emerged beside her.
“Have you finally noticed?”, Alice looked at Liora with a smile.
“Didn’t you ask me what the Immortal Token’s other function is? Now you have the answer.”, she chuckled.
“Once multiple of these tokens are gathered together, they can consume each other and start an evolution process.”
“You should have already seen it. This new token is actually the prototype of a powerful weapon!”
