The structure of the ancient city was familiar.
Courtyards, pavilions, and other eastern-inspired buildings. It looked similar to the city fragment she had visited before.
Liora was hardly surprised.
The city fragments were supposedly districts of the ancient city that had broken off during the Era’s destruction.
It made complete sense that the two would look the same as they had once been part of a whole.
After landing on the ground, Liora was prepared to survey her surroundings and choose a suitable target.
But just then, a voice rang inside her mind.
“Liora, do you want to come with us and explore together?”
As she looked toward its source, Liora saw that it came from a group of human Emperors.
She immediately recognized them, having just met them outside.
She quickly grasped their purpose.
The ancient city was bound to be dangerous. This was something everyone already knew.
Combined with the arrival of so many beings, battles would surely break out and many people would perish.
Just like in the outside world, keeping together was a wise option.
Unfortunately…
“There is no need. I’m just going to stay at the outskirts of the city for now. There won’t be any danger here.”, Liora shook her head.
Although the person who invited her wanted to try and convince her further, he ultimately shook his head.
He didn’t mock Liora for overestimating herself, nor did he get angry at her rejection.
After simply telling her to be careful, he walked away with the rest of their group.
Liora shook her head as she watched them leave.
These people did not have any bad intentions in sending her an invitation. If anything, they wished to protect her.
Although their decision outside appeared cruel, every civilization was extremely kind to its own members.
Proof was that no matter how many extraordinary aspects Liora had shown, no one had asked for her secrets, even if they suspected something.
For most humans and all the higher-ups, the betterment of the human race was their ultimate goal. As long as one could play a role in achieving that, they would be happy about it.
Liora quickly pushed those thoughts aside.
After her consciousness swept out and confirmed that there was no one else near this place, she immediately circulated her demonic energy according to a complicated route.
A map materialized in her mind.
Two golden lights were stacked on top of each other, representing the Immortal Tokens she possessed.
Yet unlike the previous times she had activated this technique, when the entire map was completely dark and empty, this time, several other lights could be seen.

Many of the gathered Emperors possessed Immortal Tokens.

“It’s finally time to gather a few more of these Immortal Tokens…”, Liora whispered, a faint smile appearing on her face.
She had already made a decision.
Rather than exploring the city itself and searching for cultivators’ illusory inheritance, it would be more beneficial to fuse more Immortal Tokens, upgrading this weapon prototype.
This was the easiest way for her to improve her combat power at the moment.

“I have a hunch that the Immortal Tokens’ fusion will not merely result in the birth of a weapon. Perhaps this treasure contains deeper secrets.”

Unlike his other demon companions, Rex made a surprising decision.
Instead of venturing deeper into the city, he chose to stay in its outskirts, under the pretext of having just recently advanced and being weaker than the many Emperors here.

As he looked at the courtyard before him, Rex tightly clutched the purple token and smiled faintly.
His advancement to an Emperor had not been an accident. Just a few days ago, he had stumbled upon one of the rumored city fragments.
Although he failed to obtain the ultimate inheritance, he had received various benefits.

His words seemed to have the opposite effect, however.
Not only did the Zerg Queen not leave, but she instead hastened her speed.
Just when Rex was about to launch an attack as a warning, a shrill cry echoed.
“Damn it!”
His expression changed. He tried to defend his soul, erecting several layers of defense.
Unfortunately, his reaction was half a step too late.
His pupils contracted.
Then all light faded from them.
His body quickly collapsed to the ground, lifeless and unmoving.
A Rank 10 Emperor had been killed in a single strike.
The “Zerg Queen” quickly landed beside him. She didn’t pay much attention to the courtyard, but started going through his items.
Soon, she found out what she was looking for. A worn-out golden token that seemed to have lost its brilliance, as though it were a mortal item.
Yet the moment the woman’s eyes landed on it, her face brightened.
“The third…”, she muttered, and with a flick of her wrist, the token entered her body.
