Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 631: Alpha's Changes & Secrets

Chapter 631: Alpha’s Changes & Secrets

Alpha had been constantly struggling before. Or rather, the issue was that she had not been struggling at all.

Her consciousness remained deep in slumber, as if the ancient will within her soul space possessed the ability to hypnotize her and render her unable to resist.

Yet all of this changed at some unknown time. Out of nowhere, a power sleeping deep within her seemed to have been awakened.

As though her bloodline had been stimulated or she had achieved a sudden enlightenment, her aura abruptly soared.

Within her soul space, two distinct lights could be seen.

One of them was dim, flickering like the flame of a candle that was about to go out at the weakest gust of wind, while the other was bright, like the personification of the sun.

Originally, the two had been in an unexpected state.

The flickering light was in control of everything, with the sun merely trembling in one of the void’s many corners.

But now, this had changed.

Flames erupted from the sun, quickly spreading throughout the entire void.

They incinerated everything they met along their way, including the weak light facing it.

The result was immediate.

In the outside world, Alpha’s aura, which had previously stalled, began to soar once more.

As though nothing had happened, she continued on with her previous momentum.

Within a mere moment, she had reached the peak of Rank 9.

Then she took a step further. The invisible bottleneck shattered.

Rank 10!

Alpha had achieved this!

A powerful momentum spread from her body.

As her advancement came to completion, extraordinary phenomena occurred.

The sound of turning gears began to resound throughout the world she had been occupying.

Countless trees suddenly burst forth from the ground, as lush vegetation was born around them.

Yet just when a giant forest had formed, all of them were cut down by an invisible hand.

The wood parts fused together under an invisible power, giving birth to several beings.

Wooden puppets!

Although their appearance rapidly changed, growing closer to actual humans, it was clear that they were puppets like the one Alpha had once been.

The phenomena did not stop there, however.

Soon, more and more beings were born.

Precious ores shot out of the ground and landed on the surface, transforming into golems.

Minerals merged together into strange, moving machines.

Streams of information gathered and turned into information creatures.

In a matter of a few seconds, the originally empty world was bursting with life.

There were no humans nor beings of any other conventional race among them.

Only Mechanical beings.

Her own kind.

As Alpha opened her eyes and observed this scene, her face broke into a smile.

Especially when she saw these beings interact with each other, her eyes narrowed into crescent moons.

Her smile grew even more heartfelt, as though she had witnessed the results of her years of hard work.

A deliberate cough echoed behind her.

It was only then that she was brought back to reality.

Spinning around, Alpha came face to face with its owner.

“My Lord.”, she immediately bowed respectfully, trying her best to keep her expression solemn.

Yet the twitching of the corners of her mouth made it clear she was struggling to do so. Her excitement was impossible to contain, even for someone like Alpha.

Noticing this change, Liora didn’t say anything. She secretly felt genuinely happy for her.

It seemed that Alpha’s advancement had brought unexpected results, enough to make her lose her composure.

Even so, Liora did not rush to ask what her new abilities were or how those could help her.

Rather, she showed a frown.

“I noticed that your consciousness struggled to defeat that remaining ancient will.”

“How could such a thing happen?”, her tone contained both curiosity and a hint of concern.

At any other time, Alpha would have felt warm in her heart.

Unfortunately, Liora’s question still lingered in her ears.

She hastily shook her head.

“My Lord, it was nothing. You misunderstood.”

“I was just observing that will a little closer. I faced no issue at all.”

Her voice was filled with confidence, as though she was sure of her success from the very beginning.

Liora was left speechless. Glancing at the supreme confidence Alpha exuded, she really had to praise her acting skills.

Even she would have believed her lies had she not known the truth.

“Since when had Alpha learned to lie?”, she couldn’t help but wonder, and, for the first time in quite some time, took a closer look at this subordinate of hers.

Alpha clearly did not know that her advancement had nearly failed. Had it not been for Liora’s intervention, she would have failed with a 99.99% certainty.

As for the reason behind this…

Liora’s eyes narrowed. She had a hunch that things were not as simple as they seemed.

Still, staring at Alpha, only to find her look back at her with pure, untainted eyes, she restrained herself from questioning her further.

It appeared that Alpha had also learned to keep secrets.

Liora sighed.

“They truly grow up so quickly.”

“It was only a few months ago when Alpha’s thoughts were written all over her face. She would seek my approval even for the most unimportant thing.”

“Now, she has learned to hide things from me.”

Liora felt somewhat emotional. She didn’t know whether this change was necessarily for the better, though she accepted it.

In fact, she had many ways to learn whatever Alpha was hiding from her.

However, she chose against using her own methods.

Since Alpha wanted to keep it a secret, she would let her do as she wished.

This was the trust they had built over years of being together, growing stronger side by side from Liora’s time as a Young Devil.

Suppressing these thoughts, Liora glanced at Alpha. A faint smile appeared on her face as she changed the topic of the conversation.

“So… What new abilities did you awaken?”

“I can sense that your state is different.”

Seeing Liora did not press her any further, Alpha breathed a sigh of relief. Then, faced with her question, she immediately started reporting the changes.
