Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 641: Soul Search

Chapter 641: Soul Search

It didn’t take long.

Less than fifteen minutes later, Liora had “walked” in front of every single one of the bookshelves.

In truth, she had long memorized the contents of the books resting on top of them. Her split consciousness within the Cosmic Sea had long comprehended them.

By exploiting the difference in the flow of time, she was able to digest tens of thousands of cultivation techniques and spells, each enough to support a Rank 11 and even Rank 12 powerhouse.

As a result, the Cultivation Star had expanded significantly, as did the Law it represented.

It was already a Rank 11 Law when she had first devoured the Myriad Dao Board. Now, it had taken a step further, getting closer to Rank 12.

Unfortunately…

“These techniques are numerous, but simply not enough to let it undergo a qualitative transformation. This Law is still missing an opportunity.”

Although Liora’s words were casual, finding this opportunity was bound to be extremely difficult.

If the Cultivation Star were to be upgraded any further, it would transform into a Rank 12 Law.

In the Cosmic Universe, this was highly likely to be the limit of practitioners, akin to becoming a Prince or Princess of the Demon World back in her hometown.

The difficulty of reaching the peak of a world could be imagined.

Even so, Liora was not too saddened. Every improvement she made could prove useful.

More importantly, studying so many books had granted her two substantial gains.

“The mysterious Ascension realm in the cultivation power system should be possible. Cultivators of this realm should be equivalent to quasi-Rank 13 Awakeners.”

By Devil standards, it would be akin to a quasi-Primordial Ancient Devil. Truly powerful and somewhat unexpected.

Yet from the clues left in the techniques and her own analysis, Liora realized reaching that realm was possible, even if the conditions to do so were stringent and nearly impossible to achieve.

In a sense, it was theoretically possible but practically impossible, just like the Devil Emperor and Empress stage of the Demon World.

Liora pondered for a few seconds before shaking her head.

Even though she seemed close to that stage, only being one and a half Ranks away, the gap between them was enormous, greater than that between an ordinary person and a Rank 11 Awakener.

As such, she quickly dismissed the thought. She would rather focus on the matter at hand.

Her attention shifted to her second substantial gain, which was far less extraordinary in nature, but far more beneficial for her current self.

After so long, Liora had found what she had been looking for.

Infinite Pavilion Technique—a soul cultivation technique created to strengthen one’s consciousness and soul.

By visualizing a pavilion in one’s mind, a practitioner could produce soul energy, thus enhancing its power.

The larger the visualized pavilion and the higher the number of its floors, the more powerful the practitioner’s soul would become.

In theory, there was no upper limit. As long as one expanded the pavilion, more soul energy would be born.

Such a technique was interesting since soul techniques were extremely rare.

Even in the entire Human Federation, their number was limited, only a handful being available for purchase.

If the Infinite Pavilion Technique were to spread throughout the Cosmic Universe, the Zerg Queen’s biggest advantage would instantly disappear. Their status as an Apex Civilization would be under threat!

However, this was merely one of the aspects that piqued Liora’s interest.

The more important reason was that she had encountered a practitioner of this technique in the past.

Or rather, she had captured one.

It was the remnant soul of the Heavenly Armor Pavilion!

Based on the other party’s aura, Liora could be certain that they had practiced the Infinite Pavilion Technique.

It was through this method that they had protected their soul from being peered into.

With that thought, Liora’s eyes narrowed.

She had previously been quite confident in being able to search through the other party’s secrets by devouring their soul.

Now, with the Infinite Pavilion Technique in hand and thousands of other cultivation techniques to study, she had become even more certain.

She briefly stopped in her tracks. Her gaze swept across her surroundings.

Having previously walked through it, she had a rough understanding of its overall structure.

There was no other entrance besides the one leading to the first floor. It was as though she had reached the final level of the pavilion.

However, Liora was not fooled.

She could sense that the space around her was extremely fragile, able to shatter at the slightest chance.

There was no need to locate the third floor’s entrance. As long as she used the Immortal Token, she would be able to jump there directly.

Even so… she didn’t.

The aura looming at the depths of the pavilion was still there. Rather than weakening, it had become even more powerful as time passed, as if a slumbering beast was awakening.

Even Liora was starting to get threatened. She didn’t know who its owner was, but she could tell they stood on the same level as her.

Therefore, she didn’t act rashly.

“It’s highly likely this aura belongs to an ancient being of a past Era.”

“Combined with the forces of the Mechanical Race and their conspiracies, finding the secrets of this place is going to be extremely difficult.”

“Especially considering the pavilion itself. I no longer believe it is an ordinary building.”

From everything Liora had seen so far, she would liken the pavilion to a giant weapon. Whether it was separating them or the suppressive power that had appeared before, it was impossible to be done merely through a formation.

The building itself had played a major role.

“If it was necessary, I would have acted recklessly and broken into the floor above. With my current strength, I’d be able to escape even when facing a Rank 12 being, so there are few things to fear.”

“But there is no need to do so.”

“After all, there is someone with me who ought to have a great understanding of this place.”

At that thought, Liora no longer hesitated. The phantom sitting beside the River of Time blurred, flashing above a Law Star and grabbing the illusory figure imprisoned within.

Before the other party could react, its body exploded.
