Chapter 642: Confrontation
Chapter 642: Confrontation
Liora’s eyes remained closed for a while.
The ability to devour other beings’ souls and peer into the memories was a boon given to every Greater Devil by the Demon World.
At first, they could only glimpse scattered memory fragments. But as their strength got higher and higher, they’d be able to obtain more and more information.
By now, Liora was able to plunder a large amount of her victims’ memories.
Combined with the sheer volume of the remnant soul’s memories, it took a while to process them.
Even ignoring the cultivator’s life during the past Era, the number of years he had spent inside the Heavenly Armor Pavilion was staggering.
Even with Liora’s rapid thinking speed, it took her several minutes to sort through all the information. Not to digest it, but merely to memorize it.
Even then, she felt her mind throb, as though her soul had been exhausted.
This was shocking given her current strength.
Despite this, she showed neither disappointment nor panic.
Rather, a faint smile appeared on her lips when she opened her eyes again.
“I see…”, she whispered, a look of understanding dawning upon her face.
Her thoughts had been confirmed.
This pavilion was indeed part of the Heavenly Armor Pavilion. Or rather, it was the main stronghold of this “shop chain”.
It was where its most powerful cultivators resided and where the more valuable treasures were stored in the past.
As for why the remnant soul knew this…
It was because he was one of the powerful cultivators in charge of this place.
Unlike what he had previously claimed, he wasn’t the owner of the city fragment’s Heavenly Armor Pavilion.
Instead, he had merely used that place to carry out his plans during the Era’s destruction.
Liora only briefly skimmed over the remnant soul’s motivations for doing so.
Most of her attention remained on searching for information regarding the Heavenly Armor Pavilion, as well as the ancient cultivation civilization as a whole.
Those memories were far more interesting.
Especially when they served to confirm some of her guesses and completely overturn others.
In the end, when paired with her own research and Alice’s words, Liora had managed to gain a thorough understanding of the past Era.
Even the four Apex Civilizations could not possibly have as much information available as her at the moment.
Liora worked to digest the key pieces of information.
Although she was very much interested in the cultivation, she knew she had more important matters to deal with at the moment.
The aura looming throughout the pavilion, growing stronger with each passing second, didn’t allow her to forget this.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for her to discover some information that could change everything.
Liora narrowed her eyes. Several images flashed in her vision, as though she was able to predict the future.
Moments later, she glanced at the dark void around her.
Then, her consciousness connected with the ever-existing Information World.
Several messages were sent out without any hesitation.
Almost instantly, the already turbulent situation of the ancient city grew even more chaotic.
—
What no one among the Emperors who had entered the city noticed was that their every movement had been under the watchful gaze of several people.
Outside the city, several groups of people could be seen hidden behind a concealment veil.
Humans. Zerg. Demons. Mechanical beings.
All were Emperors.
Yet unlike the Rank 10 Awakeners Liora had met in person before, they all exuded an aura that was several times more powerful.
It would be no lie to claim that their strength was on a completely different level than any Emperor within the city.
Liora had only seen one such person during her journey in the Cosmic Universe.
It was the War Academy’s Dean. The War God.
And, it so happened that he was one of these people.
Not only him.
Had Liora been here, she would have recognized several of these people, having interacted with them in the past.
A handsome blond man surrounded by sacred golden light.
An indifferent black-haired woman exuding a freezing aura.
An elderly man who seemed both young and old at the same time.
Not only Liora.
Nearly every high-level Awakener of the Human Federation would recognize these people.
The reason was simple:
They were the Guardians of the Blood Arena, being the most talented Awakeners among their peers over the last millions of years.
At this time, the blond man wore a wild smile as he looked at the city.
He leaned toward the War God and couldn’t help but tease:
“How about it? Do you want to have another round of sparring?”
“I’ve been working on a new move over the past few years. My hands are getting itchy…”
“I really want to find someone to give it a try.”
Standing behind them, the elderly man smiled upon hearing these words.
He knew the relationship between these two men very well.
They were rivals as much as they were friends.
The War God was older.
When the blond man was young, the two had several conflicts. None truly fatal.
Still, the War God must have never expected that the blond man would one day stand on equal footing with him.
No! He had long surpassed him!
By now, the War God would have to unleash his full power just to contend against him. As for defeating him, it was impossible.
Staring at his old opponent, the War God was left speechless.
Was this really the right time to make fun of him?
Fortunately, things were now different.
In the past, he would have only been able to ignore the blond man’s words, allowing Andrew to have the last word.
But now, the figure of a red-haired young woman surfaced in the War God’s mind.
Immediately, his face broke into a smile.
“Andrew, it’s good to be proud. However, you shouldn’t grow too arrogant and give up on your practice.”
“My War Academy’s student has already defeated your Guardian phantom once. You may not know this, but she has already become an Emperor…”
He paused briefly. Anna’s words flashed through his mind, causing his smile to become brighter.
“Who knows? She might very well surpass you the next time you see her.”
