Chapter 647: Alliance
Chapter 647: Alliance
Considering the vastness of the fortress itself and the grandeur of the golden palace, one would imagine that its interior would be equally majestic.
However, that was not the case.
At this moment, several people were gathered in what seemed to be an ordinary room.
They stood on two opposite sides, seemingly divided based on their factions.
One side wore long robes that followed an ancient eastern style, while the other was made of gears, metal, and streams of information.
The scene was surreal, as though two civilizations from entirely different eras had suddenly been brought together.
In a sense, that was exactly what had happened.
More precisely, the two civilizations were discussing their agreement and the most recent events.
“Anderleck, what is happening? How could the Human Race possibly discover our alliance?”
One of the Mechanical creatures suddenly spoke, staring at the leading cultivator with a piercing gaze.
Its voice had completely lost the indifference that all Mechanical beings possessed. The anger in its voice was apparent.
That was to be expected. The reveal had gone completely against the plans they had made over the past few centuries and put them in jeopardy.
They needed to find the source of the information leak before it was too late.
Due to the Mechanical Race’s restraints, it was impossible that the information had come from them.
The Mechanical Race naturally suspected that these cultivators had betrayed them, hoping to use this information as the trigger to make them fight against the Cosmic Universe and reap the benefits.
Recalling the fury of the Mechanical Father—the first mechanical being—when he learned of the news, the Mechanical Emperor seethed with anger.
The cultivators immediately understood what it was thinking. After exchanging a glance with his companions, the man in the lead, Anderleck, took the initiative to calm it down.
“Please don’t misunderstand.”
“Our civilization takes the agreement between us and your race very seriously. We would never do anything that would hurt your interests.”, he prefaced his words before continuing:
“As for the leak… It’s not too difficult when you think about it.”
“I don’t know much about the present Era, but in our time, skills such as divination and future prediction existed among the apex powerhouses.”
Anderleck shook his head.
“Perhaps the pavilion’s appearance allowed the human race to collect enough information in order for their divination to succeed.”
“There is even a chance that the Emperors inside the pavilion discovered our alliance on their own.”
Hearing these words, the Mechanical Emperor gradually calmed down. In fact, it had known this was the case long ago.
It understood that the cultivation civilization had no reason to betray them. After all, the Mechanical Race was one of the key reasons why their plan had proceeded so smoothly so far.
The cultivators needed the Mechanical Race. Likewise, the Mechanical Race needed the cultivators.
There was absolutely no chance that the relationship between the two would truly break down at this point in time.
With that thought, the Mechanical Emperor relaxed.
It took one more look at Anderleck. Confirming that his words seemed genuine, it suddenly changed the topic of conversation.
“I don’t know how long it will take for the people of your civilization to awaken…”
“You don’t need to worry.”, Anderleck smiled, waving his hand.
“It’s getting close. Most of our… Emperors have already revived. Now, only the higher-level powerhouses remain slumbering.”
“Once His Majesty and his Generals truly awaken, it will be time for our two civilizations to control the universe.”
A trace of piety flashed in Anderleck’s eyes before he added:
“Of course, we are going to require your assistance to achieve this.”
After saying this, Anderleck and the leading Mechanical Emperor communicated for a while.
Reassuring the Mechanical Race that everything would be fine even after the leak, the cultivators left the room, leaving these creatures alone.
Watching them depart, streams of information spread throughout the room, sealing the surroundings and preventing anyone from coming in without their permission.
“Do you think these people are trustworthy?”
“I don’t understand why Father trusts them so much. In my opinion, they possess both the appearance and craftiness of humans. They can’t be trusted!”
“It’s highly likely they will betray us in the future.”
One of the Mechanical beings looked toward the leading figure and questioned.
“Shhh! How dare you comment about Father’s matters? It’s not your place to decide whether our civilization will ally with these people or not!”, the Mechanical Emperor scolded.
Seeing its companion flinch, its tone softened.
A smile spread across its face.
“Moreover, don’t doubt Father’s wisdom. How could he trust them?”
“This is just a temporary alliance.”
“Once the three civilizations are wiped out, dealing with this ancient civilization will prove easy. Do they think that the Cosmic Universe is as simple as it appears?”, the Mechanical Emperor shook its head.
“Before then, they will not dare betray us. After all, awakening this so-called ‘His Majesty’ requires our assistance.”
Having said that, the Mechanical Emperor’s voice relaxed. It appeared that it wanted to continue speaking.
But just then, its gaze turned sharp.
“Who is there?”, it shouted, staring toward the spot where the surrounding streams of information had fluctuated.
No one answered its words. Only a faint sigh echoed through the room.
“I didn’t expect that these guys’ detection methods to be so superb.”
“Indeed. Getting this close to Mechanical beings is already an achievement.”
The moment these words fell, a figure appeared out of nowhere.
None of the Mechanical Emperors recognized her. However, judging from her ancient attire, it was obvious she was also a cultivator.
“What are you doing, sneaking into our residence? Is your civilization planning to go to war?”
The Mechanical Emperor wanted to speak further.
Unfortunately, it had no chance to say a single word.
Before it could react, an overwhelming force suddenly burst out from the unknown woman.
Although it tried to fight against it, it found itself unable to offer any meaningful resistance.
Soon, not only it, but the expressions of all the Mechanical beings in the room changed.
From anger and apprehension, it turned into deep-seated respect, even more apparent than when they mentioned the Mechanical Father earlier.
