Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 649: Devour. Devour. Devour.

Chapter 649: Devour. Devour. Devour.

Both the dark void and the formation were enormous.

Although it was only a tiny portion of it and the formation was suspected of stretching throughout the ancient city, Liora had to walk for a long time before she reached its center.

While doing so, the patterns and symbols beneath her feet constantly became ever-more intricate.

Similarly, the essence and World Origin surrounding her grew denser.

At the point where she entered this void, the essence would barely be equivalent to that of a single World Lord.

Yet by the time she reached its center, Liora felt that each strand of energy was equivalent to an entire Emperor.

Such a vast amount was shocking.

Especially when she focused on the whirlpool at the very center of the formation, only to find that it was constantly swallowing it, refining it, and letting it flow into the hall below, Liora changed her thoughts.

In the past, she had believed that each cultivator would only require the essence of a similarly ranked opponent in order to revive.

Now, she realized that she had been wrong.

For each cultivator to recover, it required the essence of dozens of equally ranked opponents.

Part of this was because of the difficulty of the revival itself. But at the same time, it showcased that cultivators were likely stronger than Awakeners of the same Rank.

Just like Zerg Queens were stronger than ordinary humans of the same level, cultivators had the ability to suppress them in turn.

Liora remained deep in thought for several seconds. In the end, she snapped out of her stupor.

She knew she had no time to waste.

Outside, the battle was still raging. More importantly, the chances of her being discovered increased with each passing second.

“Although Alpha can bring me here under the pretext of controlling the formation, it’s unlikely that cultivators fully trust the Mechanical Race. If I stay here for a long time, they will surely start to suspect something.”

With that thought, Liora no longer hesitated.

Staring at the boundless energy swirling around her, she took a seat beside the whirlpool.

Then, she took a deep breath, sucking the air around her.

The energy accumulated in the formation halted for a split second. Then, a portion of it poured into her mouth.

Although it was merely a breath, Liora felt that she had absorbed essence equivalent to a Venerable.

Moreover, accompanying it was another type of energy.

World Origin—a type of energy that existed on a different level than both Cosmic Energy and even demonic energy.

“The energy here is too dense and violent. The whirlpool does not merely suck the energy. It also refines and purifies it. Otherwise, using it to practice is impossible.”, Liora thought, as she felt the energy pouring into her body and trying to tear her body apart.

“It’s no wonder that the cultivators don’t mind about the Mechanical Race visiting this place. Even if they happen to have impure motives, there is no way they can steal the energy.”

“At most, they can plunder the essence equivalent to a few Emperors. Given the energy within the formation, this is a negligible amount.”

Liora nodded her head. She had previously doubted why entry to this place had been so easy.

Now, she realized it made sense.

The cultivators were not stupid enough to trust the Mechanical Race for no reason. Clearly, they had enough confidence to let them roam unabated.

They must have never expected that their fortress would be infiltrated by an outsider, much less that the intruder would dare replace their allies and reach this place.

Most importantly, they must have never predicted that there was someone capable of making use of such a vast amount of energy.

Raising her head, Liora stared at the formation.

Her eyes suddenly narrowed.

Then, she no longer held back. As her mind stirred, her suppression over the Cosmic Sea relaxed.

The reaction was intense.

The Cosmic Sea’s fundamental talent was Predation.

Absorption. Devouring. Plunder.

These were the main principles of this talent, and it had shown so from the start.

Faced with the boundless energy, the Cosmic Sea finally showed its predatory nature once more.

Without Liora needing to do anything, a roar echoed within the cluster of countless worlds.

Cosmic dust swirled violently, leaving the space inside Liora’s body and materializing in the outside world.

Several loud bangs echoed.

The cosmic dust went out of control.

Like the hands of a dying person or the tentacles of a deep-sea beast, they began to reach out, striking at everything around them.

Their destructive power was negligible. What truly mattered was their devouring force.

The moment they appeared, the essence and World Origin were rapidly plundered.

Flowing from the tip of the tentacles and into Liora’s body, they continuously surged into the Cosmic Sea.

The raging essence flowed into the Law Stars, strengthening their brightness and enhancing their representative Laws.

As for the World Origin, it descended upon the worlds surrounding these stars.

The dragons near the Dragon Star, which had been battling for centuries, cheered, watching as their strength skyrocketed and their bloodlines transformed.

The transcendent nature of the Cultivation Star deepened even further, as though it stood on the Other Shore and was now invincible.

The Human Star, an extension of her Human Emperor clone, trembled. Hymns for humanity rang out from it, and the vision of a sharp sword emerged.

Every world received feedback.

For a moment, it seemed that the Cosmic Sea had truly turned alive.

As a price, the energy within the formation’s core slowly dissipated.

The constantly revolving whirlpool no longer had anything to absorb. The moment the essence was led here, the dark tentacles would strike out, sweeping it up and devouring it.

No one noticed this.

Under Alpha and the Mechanical Emperor’s disguise, the cultivators failed to discover anything. It would only be a while later that they would finally sense some clues.

Well… besides one cultivator.

In the hall only divided by a single space layer, the thousands of stone statues stood motionless, as though they were mere decorations.

The one at the center looked particularly magnificent. The moment one noticed it, they would wish to stop and admire it.

However, without reaching a certain level, they would find it impossible to see the faint twitching of the statue’s eye.

For some reason, he appeared to be staring into the vacant void. Or rather, into a deeper space.
