Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 657: Enemy

Chapter 657: Enemy

The awakening of the unknown cultivator had ruined the plans of many people.

Even if one ignored the Mechanical Race and the cultivators themselves, all the others had been affected too.

In the past, the gathered Emperors possessed the confidence to deal with most dangers, mostly stemming from the powerhouses standing behind them.

War God. Cosmos Emperor. Heaven Emperor.

Which of these people was not powerful enough to inspire confidence in the minds of their subordinates?

Moreover, things did not end there.

As longtime members of their respective civilizations, these people understood the unfathomable depths and background of these forces. This only reinforced the idea that nothing could go wrong even further.

Unfortunately, things had gone far beyond their expectations.

The unknown man’s sudden appearance had turned everything upside down.

Not only had the Emperors who had ventured into the Heavenly Armor Pavilion perished, but even the leading figures had to use all their means in order to escape.

Even so, only the luckiest among them managed to survive, as well as those who possessed certain secrets.

In a distant location, countless kilometers away from the pavilion yet still within the ancient city’s range, the space suddenly shattered, breaking into countless fragments.

A spatial passage formed. From within, a figure stepped out.

Their entire body was covered in a thick black carapace, while they unconsciously emitted an aura that belonged exclusively to members of the Zerg race.

Yet they were not female. Or rather, they were not a Zerg Queen.

Instead, they were a rare type of Zerg Servant.

Someone whose bloodline had mutated, breaking the shackles imposed upon him by his Queen!

After breaking free and devouring her, he had carved his own path, earning a place among the strictly hierarchical Zerg society.

Heaven Emperor!

This being, who had only recently risen in the cognition of the native powerhouses, faced a similar fate at the hands of the man as the rest of the Emperors.

Had it not been for his powerful trump cards and unpredictable means, he would have never been able to escape, even if doing so required him to pay a price.

Despite the gravity of the situation, however, the Zerg Servant showed little panic.

A strange calm expression appeared on his face, as though everything was under his control.

“I didn’t expect it. I would have never predicted that such a powerhouse would be hidden in an otherwise ordinary shop…”

The Heaven Emperor shook his head.

“If I hadn’t obtained those fragmented memories a few years ago, and thus created my own techniques, I would have never been able to escape his attacks.”

The Heaven Emperor clicked his tongue.

He had never expected that he would one day find himself in such a desperate situation.

He had been talented since birth. Based on his mutation and the memories that flashed through his mind from time to time, he had been able to reach this point without ever having suffered a single defeat.

He was invincible!

His experiences had long let him know that he was destined to reach the apex of the Cosmic Universe and then go beyond it. After all, he knew of his true identity.

He used to be a powerhouse standing at the apex of the Origin Sea.

Although he didn’t understand how he had ended up in such an embarrassing state, or why his memories had become fragmented, with some parts missing, this gave him enough confidence.

“This is merely a small setback in my journey. Once I’ve recovered and improved my strength, I will return to this place and take revenge for today’s humiliation.”

The Heaven Emperor looked toward the depths of the ancient city with determination.

Then, he transformed into a stream of black light and intended to escape.

But just then, the Heaven Emperor froze.

Unbeknownst to him, a person had appeared only a few feet away from him.

It was a woman.

With scarlet hair, crimson eyes, and an aloof demeanor, she looked breathtakingly beautiful, as though she had been sculpted by the Gods themselves.

Yet despite her strength and extraordinary appearance, the Heaven Emperor failed to recognize her.

It seemed that she did not belong to any of the Apex Civilizations.

Still, he didn’t dare underestimate her. He could sense the unfathomable nature of her power, while his instincts seemed to be warning him of danger.

“Why are you blocking my way?”, the Heaven Emperor spoke in a hoarse voice, urging his remaining power, looking ready to strike at her.

Insects chirped throughout the surrounding area, while black mist quickly enveloped him.

In response, a flash of surprise crossed the woman’s face before she lightly shook her head.

A chuckle escaped her lips.

“I didn’t expect it. Hollow Ancestor, have you really forgotten me?”

It was just a sentence. Yet the meaning of these few words was earth-shattering.

Hollow Ancestor!

Liora’s Ancient Devil enemy and the reason she had come to this world.

Back in the Demon World, he had pushed her to the brink of death. It was only through a series of coincidences that she had managed to survive, using their lives as the stakes for a bet under the witness of the Will of the Demon World.

Since she arrived in this world, Liora had been searching for the other party. As long as she killed him, she would be able to gain whatever he possessed.

Strength. Concepts. Status.

Everything.

When she failed to find any news of him in the Human Federation, Liora began suspecting that he had been reborn in a race other than humans.

And now, her guess had been proven right!

The Heaven Emperor was the Hollow Ancestor!

The Hollow Ancestor was the Heaven Emperor!

The two were one and the same!

Her enemy had been so close yet so far from the very start!

Upon hearing her words, pieces of unfamiliar memories surfaced in the Heaven Emperor’s mind. It was as though part of the veil sealing his memories had been removed, allowing him to take a faint peek at them.

These bits, however, were more than enough to let him realize something.

Staring at Liora and the unfathomable aura that accompanied her every move, his mouth opened wide.

“It’s you…”, he said, his finger trembling as he pointed at her.
