Chapter 741: Dimensional Gate
Chapter 741: Dimensional Gate
Liora did not have to walk for long.
Since she could trace back through the timeline, she could follow the Chaos Beast’s movements with ease.
Only minutes later, she had finally reached her destination, stopping at the center of this world cluster.
The area was desolate.
No world could be seen, though it was unknown whether they had never been born or had been destroyed by the Chaos Beast.
Even though she had been prepared to encounter something unexpected, Liora was still caught off guard by what she saw.
What lay in front of her was a spatial passage.
It seemed small at first glance, as though it was a small black dot.
But that was only an illusion. After all, the enormous Chaos Beast had actually walked out of this passage.
Liora’s expression became serious.
Had it been before, she wouldn’t have recognized what such a spatial passage represented. At most, she would have thought it was the work of a powerful being and would have immediately left.
Yet after absorbing the memories of the Hollow Ancestor and the “Human Emperor,” Liora was now extremely knowledgeable about the Origin Sea.
Even though she couldn’t be considered omniscient, she was far more familiar with it than ordinary Ancient Devils would ever be.
Thus, she recognized the spatial passage.
“Dimensional Gate…” she murmured this unfamiliar term.
In the “Human Emperor’s” memories, this was the name powerful creatures used to refer to such passages.
And their function was exactly as their name suggested.
They directly led to another dimension.
Each Dimensional Gate led to another place. Likewise, entering them would have different results.
Some Dimensional Gates hid dangers beyond one’s imagination, enough to threaten even Princes of the Demon World. Others contained extraordinary opportunities that would make Ancient Devils fight over them.
Although she couldn’t know what lay on the other side of the passage, Liora believed that this Dimensional Gate was likely to be one of the latter.
After all, Ancient Devil Chaos Beasts were quite rare. They were nearly impossible to encounter.
She didn’t believe that its birth and the appearance of the Dimensional Gate were unrelated.
Liora hesitated briefly before approaching the Dimensional Gate.
Stopping in front of the spatial passage, she waved her hand, and her arm split off.
A clone emerged beside her.
Although its strength was weak, barely reaching the threshold of an Ancient Devil, it was enough to serve as cannon fodder.
The clone and Liora had no need to interact.
Without exchanging a single word, the clone took a step and moved toward the dot.
Its body immediately shrank back, and it entered the spatial passage.
Liora closed her eyes and observed the dimension inside through its eyes.
Time slowly passed.
A few minutes later…
“Blurgh!” Liora spat out a mouthful of blood.
Crimson drops dripped from her lips while her face grew increasingly pale, as though she were a ghost.
This was the backlash caused by the clone’s destruction!
Not only would she lose that part of her strength forever, but the split consciousness occupying its body would also be directly obliterated.
This was one of the reasons powerful beings rarely created clones.
A weak clone could easily be killed, playing little role and causing them to suffer backlash. Likewise, a clone that was too powerful could develop its own consciousness, become a new individual, and threaten them.
Despite losing a clone and suffering backlash, Liora showed no fear or anger.
Without her needing to do anything, silver runes emerged across her skin.
Then, as if time were turning backward—or flowing forward at an extraordinary speed—her wounds recovered almost immediately.
In the blink of an eye, both her severed arm and her injured consciousness had returned to normal.
Liora raised her hand to wipe away the blood from her lips with her sleeve.
Despite the gruesome scene, a faint smile remained etched on her now rosy face.
“It seems that I was mistaken. Well… somewhat.”
“This place is both a place of opportunity and danger.”
“It’s no wonder that the Chaos Beast managed to reach the Ancient Devil stage. In such an environment, only with such strength could it survive…” Liora whispered.
She didn’t create another clone to investigate the spatial passage again.
Her hands moved through the air, and multicolored runes flowed out of her palms.
They danced around her like elves, falling at several locations and creating a peculiar pattern with her at the center.
When the final rune fell, Liora directly poured her demonic energy into the completed pattern.
A crimson light seemed ready to soar into the sky, but under Liora’s control, it quickly dissipated.
“It’s a good thing I’ve been focused on studying Devil Runes over the past few years. With this formation, no one should discover the Dimensional Gate anytime soon.”
She nodded in satisfaction, feeling that her hard work had been rewarded.
Having said that, she no longer lingered there.
Without any hesitation, she lunged directly into the Dimensional Gate, ignoring the potential danger lying inside.
Within mere moments, her figure had vanished.
Only a second later, the array she had engraved lit up.
Many flickering lights gathered and, like a veil, covered both the pattern and the Dimensional Gate.
All traces of the passage disappeared.
Even the Chaos Beast Liora had previously killed would have been stunned if it came here.
Damn it! Who stole my home?
—
On the other side, Liora’s mind was far from focused on the Dimensional Gate itself.
Her face looked solemn, her gaze sweeping through her surroundings carefully.
A pitch-black sea.
Wherever she looked, the only thing she could see was a sea.
Waves of black ink constantly rushed forward, as though this dimension was permanently caught in a massive tsunami.
Although she had already witnessed this scene through the clone’s eyes, Liora was still somewhat surprised upon seeing it again.
She could tell that the black sea was terrifying.
Every drop of water contained a terrifying amount of power and, based on the clone’s investigation, was heavier than entire worlds.
Yet the sea was only one of the dangers within this dimension.
What appeared to be even more deadly—and what had led to the clone’s death—was something else.
Something Liora soon experienced.
Bang!
A deafening explosion echoed. The sea beneath her suddenly parted like a beast opening its mouth.
Then, an enormous black hand reached out from within, moving toward Liora at a terrifying speed.
Its fingers curved, surrounding her from every direction.
