Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 762: Mountain Demon Lord

Chapter 762: Mountain Demon Lord

The Mountain Demon Lord was the person who had previously briefly confronted Liora before giving way under the pretext of being on the verge of an advancement.

Back then, his fury had been obvious to all.

Yet now, as he stood in front of her in the form of a kind old man, there was no dissatisfaction on his face at all.

Since practicing the Primordial Sin Art, Liora had become extremely sensitive to other people’s emotions. Even so, she was unable to detect the slightest bit of anger coming from him.

Granted, she didn’t fully trust this feeling nor the Mountain Demon Lord’s previous claim of not coming here to cause trouble.

She knew very well that Ancient Devils had many ways to hide their own thoughts.

Countless thoughts raced through Liora’s mind, though on the surface, she showed none of them.

She looked at the Mountain Demon Lord, and after a brief second, she spoke up.

“I wonder why Your Excellency has visited me today. Since you claim not to care about your Demon Layer’s demotion, you should not be here to seek revenge.”

“However, I doubt we have any other connection to each other…”

Hearing Liora’s distrustful tone, the Mountain Demon Lord was not surprised. If anything, he would have been concerned if Liora suddenly became overly friendly.

He lightly shook his head.

“If I’m not wrong, Your Excellency must have only recently become an Ancient Devil and only just now returned to the Demon World.”

“I’m certain you don’t understand many matters about Ancient Devils, the Rulers, and the Demon World.”

“Since we’re going to be neighbors in the future, I wanted to invite you over to have a talk.”

As he spoke, the Mountain Demon Lord raised his head, pointing to the 18th Demon Layer.

Clearly, this was an invitation.

Faced with it, Liora didn’t think for long.

She didn’t know what the Mountain Demon Lord was planning or what his intentions were. However, she had great confidence in her own strength.

At worst, she could borrow the strength of the Cosmic Universe.

If the Mountain Demon Lord had any bad intentions, then she wouldn’t mind killing one more Primordial Devil today and improving the foundation of the Primordial Sin World.

With that in mind, she didn’t hesitate.

Enveloping the Mountain Demon Lord’s clone with her power, she rapidly moved toward the 18th Demon Layer at an extraordinary speed.

—

Under normal circumstances, entry into another Demon Layer by a being of a similar strength to its Ruler would face a counterattack.

After all, a fight between Ancient Devils could easily destroy a Demon Layer. No Ruler wanted to have the Demon Layer they had created after going through so much effort be suddenly destroyed.

Thankfully, Liora had already received the Mountain Demon Lord’s permission.

She easily passed through its outer defenses, entering the real Demon Layer soon after.

Once she did, her gaze subconsciously swept across its surface.

She was quite curious about the structure of other Demon Layers, having only seen floating continents so far.

The 18th Demon Layer did not disappoint her.

Liora came face-to-face with a never-seen-before structure.

The world was neither a planet, a continent, nor even a universe.

Instead, it was an enormous mountain range. All the living creatures of the Demon Layer resided on this mountain range, creating a civilization of their own.

Liora’s forward momentum suddenly halted.

From the mountains, she could feel a familiar aura.

Archdevils might not be able to detect it, but every Ancient Devil would immediately recognize it:

The mountain range was actually a living being! More precisely, a Devil!

It was the true form of the Mountain Demon Lord!

The moment she realized this, Liora felt somewhat emotional.

Sure enough, the world was full of wonders.

Even with her own experiences and her journey through the Origin Sea, she had never seen such a giant creature.

At the same time, she came to realize why the Mountain Demon Lord interacted with other people only using clones.

If his real body were to move, the entire Demon Layer would likely be destroyed!

“Your Excellency is here…”

Just as Liora was observing the mountain, a consciousness enveloped her, and a message was transmitted.

On the peak of the giant mountain range, an enormous face suddenly appeared, looking exactly the same as the face of the Mountain Demon Lord’s clone.

Sensing the goodwill emanating from the mountain and feeling no danger, Liora slowly approached it.

Before long, she was standing only a few feet away from it.

Although curious about the Mountain Demon Lord’s race and his abilities, Liora didn’t mince her words. She went straight to the topic.

“I wonder why Your Excellency invited me. You should understand that I’m currently busy with building my own Demon Layer.”

“I don’t have much time to waste.”

“If you have something to ask, you can simply say so,” Liora stated, her eyes lingering on the Mountain Demon Lord, observing his expression and being ready to take action at the first sign of anything wrong.

Her opponent did not know that Liora was already thinking of ways to kill him.

Even so, he didn’t show any displeasure at Liora’s impoliteness.

Instead, he mimicked her own way of conduct and spoke as straightforwardly as she did.

“Since Your Excellency has come here, you should have already guessed the reason I asked you to come.”

“I wish to form an alliance with you. As for the price…”

The Mountain Demon Lord paused briefly.

“… Just like I said before, I’m willing to reveal some crucial information about the Demon World and its Rulers.”

Fearing that Liora would make the wrong decision, the Mountain Demon Lord quickly added:

“Don’t think that you can get such information from the memories of other Rulers. Such information is sealed. Even the Ancient Devils’ abilities are unable to unravel them.”

“Although you must have obtained the souls of the Fallen Ancestor and the Holy Land Demon Lord, you won’t get anything valuable out of them.”

“Only by having a Ruler personally explain these things to them can new Rulers learn them.”
