Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 761: Devils of the End

Chapter 761: Devils of the End

“Sin Devils?”

“Cosmic Devils?”

“Destruction Devils?”

Liora whispered several different names.

In the Demon World, the name of a race was directly related to their power and the concepts they represented.

Thus, thinking of the Sin Art and the Cosmic Sea power system she had passed down, Liora’s first thought was to name her race in that way.

However, the more she thought about it, the less satisfied she became with these names.

They all sounded very… earthy. That was the way to describe them.

Just as Liora was planning to keep thinking of a suitable name, she suddenly felt something within her stir.

At the end of the River of Time within the Cosmic Sea, the thing that had been gestating all this while seemed to have sensed her dilemma.

It trembled.

Its will resonated with that of Liora.

The instant it did, Liora’s gaze became increasingly indifferent.

For a moment, she seemed to have entered a strange state, akin to when she borrowed the power of the Cosmic Universe.

Yet unlike then, when what she obtained was power, Liora now merely received a message.

A name.

“Devils of the End…” she whispered in a low voice that spread through her surroundings.

The instant these words fell, a tremor was sent out from her Throne.

Her will communicated with her bloodline and then the Demon World itself, sending this name to every bloodline descendant.

The results were immediate.

In every part of the Origin Sea, the aura of every Devil possessing Liora’s bloodline suddenly surged.

The name “Devils of the End” emerged in their minds.

They subconsciously knew. From then on, their race had a name.

Although this didn’t directly improve their strength, it had made them more complete.

Their thoughts became clear and they found many doubts they had about the Cosmic Sea power system and their bloodline abilities being answered.

It was as though an omnipotent being was illuminating the way for them, allowing them to make rapid progress.

Liora instantly sensed the results of those changes.

Her split consciousness, which was still “paving the way” in the System’s space, seemed to have taken a great tonic.

Its speed got even faster, several times higher than the original speed.

This speed snapped Liora back from her peculiar state.

She didn’t pay attention to that consciousness, however, but focused on the Cosmic Sea.

More precisely, on the River of Time.

She stared into its depths, into the far future.

Seeing that whatever lay there was still in a gestating process and was still a long way from truly being born, Liora raised her eyebrows.

“Is this a change brought by the Cosmic Sea? Or…?” She frowned.

Several seconds later, she shook her head.

At the very least, whatever had happened had solved her dilemma, granting a name upon her own race.

As for the name of the 17th Demon Layer, Liora did not need to think for long.

Glancing at the seven continents that were filled with sin and recalling their creation process, she immediately came up with a name.

Primordial Sin World.

It fully matched her current title.

The moment that thought arose, Liora felt the space of the 17th Demon Layer solidify.

In the Demon World, and even the Origin Sea as a whole, names carried a strange authority.

Just like the True Names of Devils possessed power, so did the name of everything else.

As such, just like her bloodline, her Demon Layer received various benefits upon gaining a name.

Of course, the benefits were minuscule compared to those of her bloodline.

Or rather, it granted Liora no strength. Therefore, she didn’t pay attention to them for long.

Sensing the many changes in herself, Liora waved her hand, constructing a palace in the sky above the seven continents and hiding it amidst the crimson clouds.

Then, she was prepared to release Alpha and her other subordinates, letting them take care of the Primordial Sin World while she went into seclusion to familiarize herself with her current strength.

Yet before she could even enter the palace, her expression suddenly shifted.

Raising her head, Liora looked at the membrane protecting the Primordial Sin World, a barrier she had specifically erected to protect it.

Its power was high enough to prevent even Other Shore Devils from entering.

But now, a person stood outside.

And, judging from their aura, they were a Primordial Devil, a Primordial Devil Liora could recognize.

She hesitated briefly.

In the end, confident in her own strength, she decided to meet them.

With a thought, her body transformed into a crimson light, passing through the membrane and appearing in the outside world.

—

Nyarl stared at the Primordial Sin World below with great curiosity.

Although the membrane possessed concealing capabilities, it was far from strong enough to keep everything secret from him.

With a sweep of his gaze, Nyarl noticed the seven Sin Races as well as the newly ascending Devils.

For some reason, he felt that all these creatures were special, as though they held some great secret.

Just as he was about to investigate deeper, though, he restrained his gaze and looked to the side.

Surprisingly, another person had appeared there.

“Primordial Sin Demon Lord…” Nyarl muttered their name.

Sensing the clear distrust in Liora’s eyes as well as the trace of fighting intent flickering within them, he immediately spoke up to prevent any misunderstandings.

“Your Excellency, there’s no need to be wary. I didn’t come here to cause trouble,” he said.

“…As for my Demon Layer being demoted to the 18th place, you don’t need to concern yourself with it. It’s not why I came here today.”

—

Liora stared at the sudden visitor, and their information flashed through her mind.

Part of this knowledge came from the memories of the Hollow Ancestor while most stemmed from her own observations during this time, as well as the conversations of other Ancient Devils she had overheard.

Mountain Demon Lord—an ancient Primordial Devil whose true form was a range of mountains.

Perhaps affected by this identity, the Mountain Demon Lord was a reclusive Devil, seldom interacting with his peers and rarely fighting.

Even when he did, he mostly did so in the form of a human-like clone, just as he was doing at the moment.

However, that was only the Mountain Demon Lord’s superficial information.

His most important identity, at least to Liora, was that he was the Ruler of the—former 17th, now 18th—Demon Layer.
