Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1058: New World [3]

Chapter 1058: New World [3]

Michael was starting to feel that perhaps going to a clothing store first would have been better. It wasn't that he hadn't thought of it, but he had figured that in an era where anyone could wear literally anything, a woman in ordinary clothes wouldn't catch much attention.

This much was true. Unfortunately, the person working in the store just happened to be someone who liked this kind of thing, or rather seemed deeply into it in more ways than one.

Michael could only endure it.

The young man had been polite so far, and there was no reason to suddenly leave. Besides, they weren't planning to stay long.

"Anyway," Michael said, deciding to change the topic, "please give me a chocolate ball pack."

The cashier immediately nodded.

"What kind? The usual?"

Michael paused.

That was actually a good question. The chocolates he had previously given Arianne had been fairly ordinary. Since she had liked those so much, he hadn't bothered looking into other options.

Now that he thought about it, maybe there were better choices.

The cashier leaned forward.

"We've got milk chocolate. Dark chocolate. White chocolate. Chocolate-filled pastries. Chocolate cake. Chocolate croissants." He pointed toward another display. "Candies too."

The young man lowered his voice.

"First date?"

"No."

The cashier looked unconvinced.

"Uh huh."

Michael sighed.

"Just give me recommendations."

The young man's eyes immediately lit up. Now this was a subject he understood.

"If you're introducing sweets to a date, milk chocolate is usually safest." He pointed toward several products. "Those are popular." Then he pointed elsewhere. "And that's our specialty."

Michael followed his finger. Inside the display sat several freshly baked pastries coated in chocolate and drizzled with something glossy. Even from where he stood, the smell was incredible.

Michael thought for a moment. If he only bought chocolate, Arianne would probably enjoy it. But this was her first time in Aurora. Perhaps letting her try more things wouldn't be a bad idea.

"Alright." The cashier straightened. "I'll take both. The chocolates and the specialty pastries."

"Good choice."

The young man immediately began packing everything.

Meanwhile, Arianne continued examining the displays. She had no idea what most of the items were. However, she had reached one firm conclusion: Aurora really had enough food. There was simply too much of it.

Eventually, Michael paid and quickly escaped before the cashier could continue the conversation.

The moment they stepped outside, Arianne finally asked the question she had been holding back.

"What was he saying?"

Michael immediately answered.

"Nothing."

"You are lying."

"I am not."

"You are."

"It wasn't something important. Don't bother about it."

"It was."

"It wasn't."

"It was."

"It wasn't."

"It was."

Eventually Michael surrendered.

"Fine. He was talking about your clothes."

Arianne blinked in surprise.

"My clothes?"

Michael nodded.

"You dress differently from everyone here."

That answer immediately made sense to Arianne. In fact, she had already noticed it. Since arriving in Aurora, not a single person she had seen dressed remotely like her. Compared to the flowing dress she wore, everyone else looked completely different.

Arianne looked around. She deliberately began studying the people passing by. More specifically, the women.

At first she merely observed out of curiosity. Then her pace gradually slowed until she completely stopped walking.

Michael had only taken a step before realizing she was no longer beside him. When he turned around, he found Arianne staring at a group of women walking down the street.

One wore a fitted black jacket. Another wore a long cream-colored coat. A third wore a simple white blouse and jeans.

The clothing looked incredibly simple. Yet strangely elegant.

More importantly, there was variety. An unbelievable amount of variety. Some outfits looked practical. Others looked beautiful. Others somehow managed to be both.

Arianne's eyes slowly lit up. She looked at one outfit. Then another. Then another. The more she looked, the more fascinated she became. Though deep within her she still felt overwhelmed by this strange world, and a little fearful of it, its beauty wasn't something any capital she had visited or heard of could match.

"You like the clothes?" Michael suddenly asked.

Arianne remained silent. Which was answer enough.

Fortunately for Arianne, the trip had already changed from its original purpose. At first, Michael had only intended to show her something memorable. Something that would help her understand that Aurora truly existed and that this wasn't some elaborate illusion.

However, after the incident at the bakery, he had come to realize the importance of another problem.

Clothes.

Arianne attracted attention far more easily than he had expected. At first Michael hadn't considered it important, and indeed he could still choose to walk around with her looking like this. But there was no need for them to draw so much attention if they could help it.

Now he was reconsidering.

Arianne remained completely unaware of the thoughts running through Michael's head, still busy observing the women around them. The sheer variety fascinated her. She had never imagined a world where fashion could possess so much freedom.

Without realizing it, she found herself wondering how she would look in some of those outfits. The thought embarrassed her slightly, so she kept it to herself.

Several minutes later, Arianne suddenly realized they had changed directions.

"Hm?"

She looked around. This wasn't the road they had been following earlier.

Before she could ask, Michael stopped in front of a large glass storefront. Behind the transparent wall stood countless outfits.

Arianne's eyes widened.

"Come on."

Michael entered first. Arianne followed after only a second of hesitation.

The moment she stepped inside, she was overwhelmed. There were clothes everywhere.

Before Arianne knew what was happening, she had been surrounded by several enthusiastic employees. Then things became chaotic.

An hour later, Michael sat silently on a nearby chair. His expression had long since gone blank.

Meanwhile, several store employees seemed more energetic than ever.

"No, no, no." A woman shook her head. "Try the blue one."

"But—"

"The blue one."

Five minutes later.

"No, the white one is even better."
